I would like to thank the Dachshund Club for inviting me to judge Miniature Smooths at the Championship show held on 19th November 2022.

It is always an honour to judge for such a prestigious club. I would like to thank the exhibitors for their fantastic entry. It is some years since I have judged miniature smooths in the UK and very much like Australia some problems have creeped into the breed that need to be addressed before they take a firmer hold. Like Australia size seems to be creeping up, Main concerns I found were head and eye shape, incorrect mouths, Incorrect front placements and lack of ribbing. If we neglect these problems now it will be very hard to fix in the future.

A lovely class of quality bithces and could change at any time, this was the most challenging decision of the day

An overall lovely quality bitch with lots to like. Lovely head, shoulders well placed, lovely neck length and well ribbed. Nice turn of stifle, lovely short hocks and moved true front and rear holding her top line on the move. Was delighted to award her Bitch CC and Best of Breed

2nd DYNASTYDAX ALFREDA JW

Another lovely quality bitch, slightly smaller to class winner, but had everything in the right place. Well presented, moved true and held top line on the move. Placings between this bitch and first place winner could change on the day. I was also delighted to award her Reserve Bitch Challenge and Runner up Best of Breed
