Thank you to the exhibitors that gave me a healthy entry to work with. As usual the bitches were far stronger than the dogs in this variety. The main structural fault I found was front assembly. Although shoulder placement and fore chest in many cases were adequate the prevalent problem seems to be the length of forearm, which is becoming far too short. Consequently, there is a lack of forward reach and from the side view appearing far too low to ground. Also, there is little or no strength in pastern causing flat feet. For those who breed this needs to be addressed. On the brighter side there is a really healthy amount of young quality coming through.

Special Beginner Dog (4)
1st: JONES Jenivon's The Last Waltz, B&T with a lovely head, correct eye shape, good reach of neck leading into well placed shoulders. Moved soundly coming and going.
2nd: STUART Shantallah Bailey, Red very handsome youngster not the maturity of the class winner. 3rd: CATO Jenivon's Alexandra Of Earldax

Minor Puppy Dog (3)
1st: JONES Jenivon's The Last Waltz as above. 2nd: JENNINGS Jenivon's The Story Lives On Red litter brother to the class winner, a touch taller, preferred the shoulder placement of the class winner, however this boy does have lovely flowing movement with plenty of reach in front. 3rd: STUART Shantallah Bailey

Puppy Dog (3)
1st: O'HARE WILSON & WILSON Atikan I Am Kenough, Red boy with a pleasing head and eye. Nice clean neck, lovely front with nice tight elbows, keeping a good outline on the move.  2nd: KIRKWOOD-EMERY Marvale Royal Salute at Helydon, Smart B&T, not the front of the class winner and slightly down in pastern, slightly immature for his age. 3rd: ROBERTSON Marvale Salute The Crown With Ravenwood

Junior Dog (1)
1st: LEE-A-PING Tony Chocolonely 4th in SB. Well balanced and smart on the stack. Short in ribbing which makes him roach his topline on the move, but his movement is good a fluid.

Yearling Dog (6)

This was a really hard class as the first two was a very close decision.
1st: PARR Stargang Rusty Nail, This boy stood away for me, really well put together, front assembly spot on but moves a touch wide behind. 2nd:ANDISON Stargang Jim Beam Again a lovely shape, super rear movement and good ground clearance but a touch short in upper arm so not a tight in front as 1. 3rd: BULLIS Amaffrey Sirius Black

Novice Dog (4,1)
1st: JONES Jenivon's The Last Waltz as above. 2nd:CATO Jenivon's Alexandra Of Earldax met the winner of SB in this class, lovely type but too short in forearm, hence appearing a touch too low to ground and not the movement of the class winner.3rd: WOOD Llansansior Chervil at Littlecopse

Graduate Dog (1)
1st: WOOD Llansansior Chervil at Littlecopse Red extremely well handled and has a lovely attitude. Well balanced boy who moves well, just too big.

Post Graduate Dog (1)
1st: WITHHELD2nd:WITHHELD3rd: WITHHELD

Limit Dog (11,1)

Super Quality class where I found my CC winner.
1st: TITE Rijobeau Well I Never, Congratulations I understand this makes this boy a Champion. He is so sound to go over, has a lot to offer, superb movement with plenty of reach and drive, the best of shoulders and a super front, good length of ribbing and well angulated hind quarters which he uses to drive around the ring. In fantastic condition. His head is not my cup of tea, very old English type head, would prefer more foreface, but they don’t walk on their heads. CC
2nd: JENNINGS Jenivon's Starfinch another classy eyecatcher. Sound to go over, everything fit together beautifully a touch forward placed in shoulder and would prefer a little more bone.  3rd: METCALFE-BILGIN Metadale Aloysius

Open Dog (12,3)

Another close decision in this class with 1&2  very much of the same type.
1st: O'CONNELL Ch Rijobeau Rumours With Llennocor JW Loved the front assembly and shoulder of this boy. Lovely head carriage , super reach of neck, good strong topline and balanced quarters. Shown in tip top condition RCC, not quite as tight in front movement as the CC winner.
2nd: MASON Ch Teckeltown Suspicious Mind Lovely boy a very worth champion, would prefer a little more spring of rib and not quite the width in front of the class winner. 3rd: COROMINAS Ch Scenterbay Rafael for Ruichango JW

Veteran Dog (1)
1st: BEACH Riowood Arizona, Red Brindle, handsome chap showing in super condition. Felt he was well up to the size limit, moves well with good ground clearance BV.

The depth of quality in the bitches was like judging a separate breed. There is no way I would want to be exhibiting a youngster at the minute. They are truly delightful and no doubt will be changing places regularly.

Special Beginner Bitch (5,1)
1st: BOSWORTH Bronia Solange at Louromi JW have judged this girl before a very sound mover, well worthy of BSB  2nd: BARR Bronia's Annetta at Lowood, well made and looked a picture on the stack, not the rear movement of the class winner. 3rd: HOLMES Debiandaxies Derry Girl JW

Minor Puppy Bitch (5)
1st: ERGIS Siouxline Trinity super promising baby. Red brindle. The most stunning head and eye of good shape. Good reach of neck leading into correct shoulder placement. Ribs go well back and correct amount of loin. Just needs to tighten a little behind which will come with age. 2nd: BOSWORTH Bronia Rihanna at Louromi Shaded Red, nicely made. Moves out well holding a good clean outline, not as clean through the shoulder as the class winner, sure this is just a growth stage as her construction is correct, lovely feet.3rd: STUART Shantallah Betty Boop

Puppy Bitch (10)

What a gorgeous class sure the first four will be doing swaps all year.
1st: MASON Teckeltowns Power Of Love B&T, fell in love with the diamond. Nothin I would want to change, a true dachshund in miniature. Beautiful head and eye, correct dentition, elegant reach of neck leading into correct shoulder and front assembly. Good pro sternum, and plenty of bone, nice clean legs, correct length and spring of rib, with beautifully balances quarters. In my opinion nothing to touch her CC BOB BP.
2nd: HUTCHINGS Teckeltowns Kelby Springs Into Collidach, another one of top drawer quality, see she it litter sister to the class winner, just preferred that touch more length of 1. Personal preference on type is the only thing that split these two. 3rd:  DALTON Beachdax Angel of my Dreams at Llansansior beautiful shape, still carrying a touch of puppy chub, will trouble the above when she firms up.

Junior Bitch (7)
1st: BAIN Jenivon Jewel At Wenichones B&T, nice girl pleasing head neck and shoulder, good topline with sound quarters, moves true. Lovely bone and feet. 2nd: JENNINGS Jenivon's Secret Wish very much like the class winner same comments apply, moves true coming and going with good reach and drive but runs up a little behind on the move. 3rd: BEACH Beachdax California Gurls

Yearling Bitch (6)
1st: METCALFE-BILGIN Metadale Legacy of Love Red girl, super sound. Strong free flowing movement that caught my eye, another with super bone and feet and good ground clearance. 2nd: PARR Stargang Silk Stockings B&T well made, lovely well filled in front and good ribbing, touch too low to ground for me.3rd: O'HARE WILSON & WILSON Atikan Give Them Merry Hell

Novice Bitch (7)
1st: HUTCHINGS Teckeltowns Kelby Springs Into Collidach 2nd in PB 2nd: COXON D'Arisca Fascinating Rhythm B&T with pretty head, good eye shape, very smart clean outline and moves well would just like a bit more of her. 3rd: KENT Lokmadi Runaway Bride

Graduate Bitch (4)
1st: BARR Marvale's Austerlitz at Lowoods lovely outline, beautiful head and neck, sound movement which won her the class, free stands beautifully, super feet.
2nd: BOSWORTH Bronia Solange at Louromi JW sound foundation bitch, preferred head and hind quarters of the class winner.3rd: WOOD Littlecopse Black Opium

Post Graduate Bitch (6)

Another difficult class splitting hairs,1 & 2 very much like in type and construction. Both moved soundly just preferred the ground clearance of the class winner. 2 was a touch too low for my liking. 1st: BUTTERSTONE Joshotto Martha Gunn 2nd: ERGIS Siouxline Elsa Marie JW 3rd: MUGGLETON Sweet Creature

Limit Bitch (9)
1st: BEACH Beachdax Girl of my Dreams JW my notes say she stood out quality through and though, gorgeous head, good neck and super front, excels on the move with plenty reach and drive, not too low, keeping a super outline RCC.2nd: HERALD Winterfield Lucky Star B&T nice to go over really well balanced and moves well, not the bone and substance of the winner. 3rd: MASON Marvale Crimson Sunbird At Teckeltown

Open Bitch (10)

Another cliff hanger had to place by personal preference 1& 2 both reds, had to place by personal preference as both lovely girls, nothing I would want to change on construction 1 was lower to ground than 2. However 1 just moved with a  touch more enthusiasm and had a touch more bone. 1st: BEACH Ch Beachdax Sweet Melody,2nd: BEER, MOES & WILLIAMS Gellijams Fireworks At Cwmdarhian,3rd: HERALD Winterfield Lady in Red

Veteran Bitch (4)
1st: COXON Ch Sundsdal's Black Cadillac to D'Arisca B&T lovely bitch, a worthy champion, still holding a superb outline despite her years, in lovely condition and super sound on the move. 2nd:LUNT Marvale Silver Sorceress At Louarne Silver Dapple girl with lovely markings. In fantastic condition for her age. 3rd: HERALD Montone Our Lady Faith at Winterfield Res: ROSE Pennydach Mystique at Rosencrantz
