A privilege and an honour to judge this variety of Dachhunds at the largest Dog
show in the World. The ringside was packed for the majority of judging my entry
of 180 making 205 entries was mostly pleasing. My 8.30 am start was made easy by
the efficiency of both my Stewards Mother and Daughter duo Marley and Rebecca
Callow who kept the proceedings flowing throughout the day; along with the UK
entry I was blessed with entries from no less than 8 European countries. I first
awarded Challenge Certificates to Dachshunds in 1993 and have continued to do so
ever since. Apart from here in the UK, I have had the privelge of judging
Dachshunds all over Europe and as far a field as South Africa, Russia and
Australia and never, until today have had to ask an exhibitor to leave the ring
due the exhibit being unsound in its rear. I did not take this decision lightly,
but following Royal Kennel Club guidelines I felt I had to do so. Throughout
this entry type was mixed. Untypical heads i.e. round skulls, large round eyes
and short forefaces are not what is required. The ring provided was huge so
there was no hiding place for exhibits to show of their paces. I did find
however, that throughout this entry, there was sufficient quality in each class
to award winners and was more than pleased with my major winners. Good Citizen
Dog Scheme D (4,1) 1 Reynolds, Kleinser Blue Moon B/T. Fair all through for
overall breed type. Head is ok. Dark expressive eyes plenty in neck. Ribbing is
carried well back and is level in topline. It was his sound movement that won
him this class along with good presentation. 2 Lee-A-ping, Tony Chocolonely.
Love to know where this name comes from. His head is acceptable, eye colour is
ok. Decent body outline but does need to fill his frame. Bone and feet ok. Not
as positive in his rear as the winner. 3 McLonville, Phaile Kernon Ned Kelly.
MPD (2) 1 O'Hare, Wilson, Wilson, Atikan I Am Kenough, red. 9 months. Correct
conical shaped head with plenty in foreface. Dark expressive eyes, sufficient in
neck with a good front assembly. Plenty in ribbing. On the stack he displays
correct balance. Bone and feet are good. On the move he displayed a pleasing
attitude whilst holding his profile on the go around and was well presented.
2 Williams, Hamilton, Sanspooch Pain Au Chocolat, choc/tan, 9 months. OK all
through. Head is acceptable with a clear eye. Needs time to mature up. In time
this will happen. However, has a most uncharacteristic tail carriage. PD (5) 1
Kirkwood-Emery, Marvale Royal Salute at Heydon, B/T. Plenty to admire all
through on this one. Correct conical shaped head which has good length, dark
expressive eye all topped off with well placed ear. Correct in neck with a clean
front assembly. Plenty in rib which is carried well back to a firm loin. His
topline is level which he held on the move. He stands on correct bone with neat
compact feet. Moved out well on the out and back and was well presented. Should
have a bright future! 2 Morton Monrateckel Tiger Feet, R/Brindle. My notes say
ok for overall breed type. Head, eye and expression all good. General body
displays correct proportions. Bone and feet good. Just not as settled on the moe
as the winner but will continue to catch the eye! 3 Robertson, Marvale Salute
the Crown with Ravenwood B/T. Litter brother to the winner. Has many of the two
in front attributes just needs more time to develop and settle on the move. Only
time will correct this. JD (3) 1 Williams, Moes, Cwmdarhian The Ice Man, Red.
"Cool name". Yet another quality exhibit produced by this highly talented
breeder/exhibitor. On inspection he has a true conical shaped head which
displays length with strength in foreface with excellent dentition. Correct
medium shaped eye. Excellent neck and forequarters. Solid in topline with
ribbing extended well back with correct underline which leads to a well
angulated rear with short parallel hocks. On the move he comes to life. One of
only a few that displayed correct forward reach and parallel rear drive whilst
holding an eye-catching profile on the go around and he was presented in
excellent order. Pleased to award him Best Puppy in Breed today and if judged on
merit should gain his crown! 2 Hiskett, Kelleway, Clenocor Stop and Stare with
Simorepaw, B/T. Plenty to admire about this one. Conical shaped head with
correct eye and expression. Plenty in neck with sufficient in forechest with
elbows kept well in. Ribbing is extended well back to a firm loin. Topline is
level with correct croup and tailset. He stands on good bone with neat compact
feet. On the move he was active. With normal luck will continue to do well. 3
Lee-A-Ping, Tony Chocoloney (second in Good Citizen) YD (8) 1 Bullis, Amaffrey
Sirius Black, 16 months b/t. Quality exhibit with plenty to admire all through.
Correct conical shaped head with plenty in foreface with correct dentition.
Clear in eye with good pigment. Plenty in neck with good fill in forechest with
elbows kept well in. Ribbing is extended well back to a firm lion. Topline is
level which leads to correct croup and tail set all finished off with a well
angulated rear. Moved out ok on the out and back whilst holding an eye-catching
profile on the go around and was presented in good order. Should continue to do
well. 2 Parr, Stargang Rusty Nail, 20 months, red. Another with plenty to admire
all through and is close up to the winner. Correct in head with a dark
expressive eye. Plenty in neck with good front assembly. Ribbing is extended
well back with a level topline all finished off with a well angulated rear. On
the move he was active whilst holding his profile on the go around. 3
Metalfe-Bilgin, Metadale Secret Alliance, red. Plenty to admire about this one.
Head, eye and expression are all good. General body proportions display correct
balance. Ribbing is extended well back. Moved out steadily both ways, completing
a trio of quality exhibits. PGD (11) 1 Reynolds, Kleinstar Moongazer, red. He
scores in head which is of the desired conical shape with strength in the
foreface. He is clear in eye which gives off a pleasing expression. His neck
flows into a pleasing front construction with ribbing extended well back to a
firm loin. Topline is level which leads to a well angulated rear. Bone and feet
are correct. On the move he was positive on the out and back whilst holding a
pleasing profile on the go around. At times however he was somewhat proud of his
tail but his other qualities outweigh this! 2 Williams, Rozamie Tiger Feet,
brindle. For me not the head qualities of the winner. However, he scores in neck
and ribbing with a level topline which leads to a well angulated rear. On the
stack he displays a balanced picture.. He stands on good bone and feet and moved
out with good reach and drive.
3 Dr Eyre-Brook, Mylforge The Bishop at Gentlegorse b/t. Adequate head, clear
eye, sufficient in neck and ribbing is extended well back. Level in topline, and
bone and feet ok; just needs to put more in on the move. LD (17) Good class! 1
Tite, Rijobeau Well I Never, B/T. So much to admire all through about this one
with correct breed type. A true dachshund in "miniature". He excels in the
correct conical shaped head with strength in underjaw with excellent dentition.
Clear in eye which gives off a true expression. Plenty in neck which flows into
a clean front assembly. His ribbing is extended well back to a firm loin with
correct coup and tail set all finished off with a well angulated rear with short
parallel hocks. On the out and back he displayed good reach and drive whilst
holding an eye-catching profile on the go-around was presented in excellent
order. Should with normal luck wear his crown! 2 Metcalfe-Bilgin, Metadale
Aloysius, red. No doubting this exhibit has quality all through. So correct in
head which has the desired conical shape with strength in foreface and a clear
eye which gives off a pleasing expression. Plenty in neck which flows into a
clean front assembly with elbows kept well in. His ribbing is extended well back
to a firm loin. His topline is level with the desired underline all finished off
with a well angulated rear with short parallel hocks. He was positive on the out
and back whilst holding his profile on the go around. Splitting hairs between
these two today. He will also continue to catch the eye! 3 Jennings, Jenivons
Starfinch B/T. Yet another exhibit that screams correct breed type. Head eye and
expression all good. Body proportions display correct balance. Bone and feet
good. On the out and back he was positive while holding his profile on the go
around. Will have his day. Good luck! OD (17) What a class! 1 Williams, Moes, Ch
Cwmdarhian Joe Calzghe B/T. An eye catching individual who in my opinion
deserves all the accolades he receives when judged fairly. On inspection he has
a head to die for. The ultimate correct conical shape which has length with
strength in foreface with plenty in underjaw. He is clear in eye which gives off
a pleasing expression all topped off with neat well placed ears. He excels in
neck which flows into a clean front assembly with the best forechest of the day
with elbows kept well in. His ribbing is extended well back to a firm loin with
a solid topline and underline all of which leads to a super angulated rear end
with short parallel hocks. He stands on quality bone with neat compact feet.
It's on the move that he comes to life, displaying excellent reach and drive
whilst holding an eye catching profile on the go around. He was presented in
excellent muscle tone whilst giving his hander one hundred percent all all
times. In my opinion a true Dachshund in "miniature". I had no hesitation in
awarding him the CC and later on BoB. Proud to see him still putting all in
later on in the day in the Group. Still giving one hundred percent in the Group!
2 Cori, Bih/Mne, Ch, Urban Regina Cornadro (Ita), red. Yet another eye catcher
with such ring presence with a commanding appearance. So correct in head, eye
and expression. Reachy in neck with a correct front assembly with sufficient in
forechest. Level in topline with a correct underline. Loin is solid with a well
angulated rear. Again on the stack he displays true balance whilst on the move
he was positive on the out and back. He was presented in stunning order. Could
not resist bringing him back to claim the RCC. No disgrace here! 3 Mason, Ch
Teckeltown Surspicious Mind B/T. Smart individual of above average merit all
through. Head, eye and expression all correct. Body proportions on the stack
display correct proportions. Ribbing is extended well back. Bone and feet are
correct. Moved out soundly on the out and back. Absolutely no disgrace here,
three very smart individuals! VD (1) 1 Beach, Riowood Arizona, red/brindle, 7
years old. Standing alone but it would have taken a good one to have toppled
him! He scores in head which is of the correct conical shape with a clear eye
which gives off a pleasing expression. Plenty in neck with good fill in
forechest. On the stack he displays good overall body balance with a firm
topline which he holds at all times. On the move he stands on good bone with
neat compact feet. Moved out with correct reach and drive and was handled well
to gain maximum output and was presented in good order. Pleased to award him

by litter sisters; it's called type judging! 1 Mason, Teckeltown's Power of
Love, B/T. Has so much to admire all through. Correct conical shaped head which
is feminine and well balanced. Dark expressive eye with correct dentition all
finished off with well placed ears. Correct in neck which flows into a clean
front assembly with elbows kept well in. Ribbing is extended well back with a
level topline and good underline. She is well angulated in her rear with short
parallel hocks. Put her best foot forward on the out and back displaying good
reach and drive whilst holding an eye-catching profile on the go around and was
well handled to gain maximum output. Should go on to better things! 2 Hutchings,
Teckeltown's kelby Springs Into Collidach, red. Has all her litter sisters
attributes and I was splitting hairs here. Again another that will continue to
do well and will change places. I was chuffed to hear that they were litter
sisters! 3 Coxon, D'Arisca Fascinating Rythm B/T. A well bred individual of
merit all through. Feminine in head. Dark expressive eye. Correct proportions in
body when stacked and was sound on the out and back. This exhibitor was showing

Bosworth Bronia Solange at Louromi JW (see Good Citizen) 3 O'Hare, Wilson,
Wilson, Atikan Give Them Merry Hell, red. Scores in head, eye and expression.
General body displays good balance. Bone and feet ok. Moved out well. Would,
however, benefit from carrying a little more weight. In time this should develop
with maturity. YB (22) 1 Ferretti, Minidogland Ambriz, red. Another overseas
