Miniature Smooth-Haired Dachshund

I would like to thank the committee for inviting me judge at this lovely friendly Club show.  Thanks & gratitude must also go to my very efficient, long-suffering steward.

On the whole the breed is in good heart with some wonderful specimens. Temperaments were generally good with only the odd shy/anxious one. I found no incorrect bites.  Movement was much improved since the last time of judging, particulary hind- extension. My main concerns were up-right shoulders, with short upper-arms.  More concerning, were the number of dogs with very short ribbing with corresponding long loins.  Size needs to be watched.

I would just like to finish by thanking the competitors for giving me such a generous entry and accepting my decisions with good grace.

Baby Puppy D or B

1(1)

1. Holmes’ Debiandaxies Zeus. Smart 4mth B/T male. Nice head with dark eye, correct bite. Developing front, ribbing a little short at the moment. Firmish top-line, good rear. Movement a little erratic as one would expect at this age. Delightful temperament.

MPD 1(1)

1. Tite’s Rayol Gingerfella by Rijobeau. 6mth red dog. Classic head, correct dentition. Nice lay back of shoulder, tight elbows. A little short in ribbing at the moment. Nice well angulated rear, moved true fore & aft.

PD 5

1. Hanney-Mitchell’s Bronia Despacito. Stunning puppy with great attitude. Masculine conical head with dark eye and correct bite. Nice reach of neck flowing into correctly aligned shoulder;  tight elbows. Excellent ribbing with short loin. Firm top-line held on the move. Well angulated rear with a wonderful turn of stifle. Moved true. Pushed hard for RCC just tiring after long hot day.  BPIB & BPIS

2. Wood’s Dackelhein Just a Game. Another lovely puppy where many of the attributes apply. Just not front or ribbing of 1, but very promising all the same.

3. Taylor’s Whitewebbs’ Obi Wan.

JD 2 (2)

1. Kirkwood-Emery’s Marvale Royal Salute at Helydon.  Smart B/T with conical head and correct bite. Adequate front angulation; however, a little short in ribbing. Firm top-line held on the move. Strong rear with nice turn of stifle and short well-let down hocks. Move true fore & aft.

2. Lee-A-Ping’s Tony Chocolonely. Taller stamp of dog with good ground clearance. Masculine head with dark eye. A little upright in shoulder with short upper arm. Strong top-line, firm rear, moved soundly.

YD 1 (2)

1. Lee-A-Ping’s Tony Chocoloney. See above.

PG (1)

LD 5 (2)

1. Jenning’s Stargang Whisky Mac. Attractive brindle dog. Masculine classic head, strong neck flowing into well- constructed front, a little short in ribbing. Firm top- line, nicely angulated rear. Sound fluid mover.

2. Andison’s Kelcardi Planet Mars. Another nice dog with good ground clearance. Conical head, dark eye, correct dentition.  Good front alignment, little short in ribbing. Firm top-line. Adequate hide angulation, moved soundly.

3.William’s Rozamie Tiger Feet.

OD 5 (1)

1. O’Connell’s Ch Rijobeau Rumours with Llennocor JW. A wonderful quality B/T dog of correct size. He just commands the ring with that “Look at me Attitude”. Conical male head with dark eye and correct bite. Long reachy neck flowing into beautifully constructed front. Tight elbows, prominent fore-chest. Excellent length of ribbing with short strong loin. Solid top-line held on the move. Super well angulated rear, with an excellent turn of stifle and short well let down hocks. Such a true sound balance mover, he just flowed round the ring covering the ground with ease and grace…just loved him! I had no hesitation in awarding him the CC & BOB.  I gather he went on to win BIS congratulations.

2. Andison’s Clentry Tiercel. Smart compact honest B/T; really liked the strength and stamp of this dog. Masculine classical head with dark eye and correct bite. Strong reachy neck flowing into correctly aligned front; long ribbing accompanied by short loin. Firm top-line, good underline. Well angulated rear, lovely turn of stifle, short hocks. Move true fore & aft, really covers the ground. RCC

3. Small’s Bronia Gustave of Melriding

SB D/B 5 (1)

1. Downie’s Marvale Kingfisher. Shaded red dog. Classic head with good pigmentation. Well aligned front with adequate length of ribbing. Firm top-line maintained on the move. Lovely well angulated rear which he used to good effect. Sound balanced mover. BSB

2. Holmes’ Debiandaxies Derry Girl JW.  Nice shaded red bitch. Where many of the attributes of 1. apply, just not the front; however, there is a lot to like and she does move with great drive.

3.Harrison’s Harridachs Queen of Clubs.

MBP 1(2)

1. Winkley-Balmer & Winkley’s Jenivons Get Them Talking for Edenwhip NAF. Pleasant B/T babe with sweet head. Developing front, ribbing a tad short at the moment. Top-line a little soft on the move but firming-up stacked. Nicely muscled rear, moved soundly.

PB 3

1.Hanney-Mitchell’s Bronia Lady Gaga. Lovely elegant puppy, with conical feminine head. Dark eye, correct dentition. Front already beautifully aligned with prominent fore-chest and well ribbed back.  Firmish top-line, excellent hind angulation, moved true fore & aft. Very promising puppy.

2. Bosworth’s Bronia Rihanna at Louromi. Another promising puppy which is litter sister to my winner. Many of the attributes apply just doesn’t quite have the front development yet; I’m sure it will come.

3. Coote’s Kelsomaid Black Dragon

 JB 4 (2)

1. Mason’s Teckeltowns Power of Love.  Feminine B/T with sweet head and expression. Adequate front angulation with good ribbing. Firm top-line, nice turn of stifle with well let down hocks. Moved soundly. I would have liked a bit more ground clearance.

2.Bain’s Jenivon Jewel at Wenichones. Smart B/T, higher on the leg but not the front of 1. Firm top-line, nicely angulated rear, lovely free mover.

3. Harrison’s Harridachs Queen of Clubs

YB 9

1. Hutchings’ Teckeltowns Kelby Springs into Collidach. Lovely compact shaded red. Classic conical head with dark eye and correct bite. Good front construction with prominent fore-chest, adequate ribbing.  Strong top-line, well angulated rear with short well let down hocks. Moved true fore & aft.  Pushed hard for the reserve CC, just carrying a little too much weight today, which deflected from her overall outline.

2. Graham’s Portmoll Primadonna. Smaller stamp with sweet feminine head. Lovely correctly aligned front with sufficient ribbing. Firm top-line, well angulated rear, true sound mover. Just lack the substance of 1. but a lovely bitch.

3. Jennings’ Jenivon’s Spicebomb

PGB 5 (2)

1. Herald’s Winterfield Whiskey Maude.  Pleasant shaded red with classic head and dark eye. Nice reach of neck flowing into well aligned front, sufficient ribbing. Firmish top-line, well angulated rear. Moved freely, just a little overawed by her day.

2. Harrison’s Harridachs Cherry Blossom. Smaller stamp with not the ground clearance of 1. Feminine head, correct bite. Sightly over developed front with adequate length of ribbing. Strong angulated rear. Moved soundly.

3. Davies’ Stargang Penny Lane.

LB 11

1. Wilkinson & Wakeham’s Wakywilks Vitoria. Lovely quality bitch of correct size where everything just fits, no exaggerations. Feminine conical head correct dentition. Elegant reachy neck flowing into beautifully constructed front, prominent prow and tight elbows. Well ribbed back with short loin. Solid top-line, well angulated rear, short well let down hocks.  Her movement was her forte today, so balance and true, covering the ground effortlessly. Handled to perfection to get the best out of her. Well-deserved BCC

2. Metcalfe-Bilgin’s Metadale Legacy of Love. Taller bitch with not the confidence of 1. Lovely conical head with dark eye. Nice reach of neck, correctly aligned front with sufficient length of ribbing. Firm top-line, neatly angulated rear, moved true fore& aft.

3. Bosworth’s Bronia Solange at Louromi

OB 7 (2)

1. Hanney-Mitchell’s Bronia Clarisse.   A biggish girl but so correctly made. Classic head, with pleasing expression. Nice reach of neck, flowing into beautifully constructed front. Prominent fore-chest, tight elbows, well ribbed back.  Strong top-line, super well angulated rear. Moved with verve pushed hard for the CC, just carrying a tad too much weight today. RCC

2. Mason’s Ch Marvale Crimson Sunbird at Teckeltown.  Another lovely bitch where many of the attributes of one apply.  Conical feminine head, good reach of neck, well-constructed front with adequate ribbing. Firm top-line, beautifully angulated rear. Moved true fore & aft.  Just pip to the post by 1, on movement today.

3. O’connell’s Ch Rijobeau Rita Bix with Llennocor.

VB 1 (2)

Cumberland’s Mumysami Here We Go Again. Carrying her years lightly. Tall girl with strong head and dark eye.  Adequate front angulation, however a little sort in upper arm.

Firm top-line, powerful rear with rather high hocks. Moved with verve and drive really enjoying her day! BVIB
