It was truly an honour and privilege to be invited to judge this the 25th Anniversary Show and receive such a lovely quality entry. Sadly a few absentees on the day. What a well organised, smoothly run event, super rosettes and thanks to the exhibitors for my lovely entry on the day. Some observations to mention, which have been an issue for as far back as I can remember are some untypical heads!! There were several exhibits where the body structure was exactly what I was looking for, however had the short muzzle, with rather distinct stop, which inevitably went with the round forward placed eye and for some reason a small shorter ear. One must also remember this is supposed to be the miniature variety with ideal weight limit and I am well aware big ones can produce small one and small ones still can throw big one, when making some final class placements, size did matter and had to came into play on this occasion.
Minor Puppy Dog (6) loved this promising class as it entered the ring. It was splitting hairs between the first two dogs, one needing time to fill out and one almost the finished article.
1 Haney-Mitchell’s - Bronia Despacito, loved this elegant yet rather raw young boy, reminded me a great deal of my dear departed Red Thorn at same age. Loved his conical head together with oblique almond shaped dark eye. Clean reachy neck into well laid back shoulder and good length upper arm, well pronounced forechest and wrap around front. Good length and level maintained topline. Loved the right angles to his rear. For me he won the class on his free smooth easy gait with drive from the strong parallel rear action. Pleased to award him BPIB and delighted to see him end up Best Puppy In Show.
2 Ergis’s – Siouxline Trojan, another promising one who appealed to me immensely and one I certainly could own, this pretty dark brindle who was more mature then the winner, possessed a lovely typical head with arch in the muzzle and good underjaw. Lovely strong neck clean into shoulder. Well developed prosternum and sternum. On the move presently a good topline and parallel out n back. Final decision on the go around however could change places on another day.
Puppy Dog (3,1)
1 Lee-A-Ping’s – Tony Chocolonely, elegant black and tan in lovely condition, good reach of neck, prosternum could be more rounded, good length of sternum, level topline on the move, a touch long in the hock, could have firmer hind action going away.
2 Robertson’s – Marvale Salute The Crown with Ravenwood, nice size, felt he had a little to much loose skin, rather short in neck, prosternum not rounded and sternum short. Would prefer stronger topline and rear angles.
Junior Dog (3,2)
1 - 1st place in Puppy Dog class.
Yearling Dog ((3)
1 Parr’s – Stargang Rusty Nail, appealed to me on entering the ring, lovely hound like head with punishing jaws, good amount of bone, well developed forechest, clean elbows, good feet, firm topline , tail bit high set, moved true albeit a tad narrow. Awarded the RCC on overall breed type.
2 Andison’s – Stargang Jim Bean, smaller than 1st dog see they are litter brothers, stop a bit deeper, certainly moved out well, on examination stood tad close in rear, tail could have less curve through it.
Post Graduate Dog (6,1)
1 Gittins – Boomerloo’s Robin, one I have placed previously, loved this one for his true miniature size, head could be longer, good front assembly, good length sternum, moved true in all directions with level topline.
2 Wood’s – Dackelheim Just A Game, Brindle with nice head piece, bit wrinkled over the shoulder, good length of sternum, could have touch more hind angulation.
Limit Dog (10,3)
1 Tite’s – Rijobeau Well I Never, lovely him on the stack, head could be more conical, clean through the shoulder which are a bit high placed, low to ground, well angled behind, moved tad close going away, maintained level topline. One considered for higher award.
2 Band & McCarthy’s – Carpaccio Red Alert for Essandsee, loved the miniature size of this shaded red boy, another one I remember judged before and liked, does not show himself off well on the stack for his owner, as give owner a hard time, loved the layback of shoulder nice feet and moves well.
Open Dog (8,2)
1 Corominas’s – Ch Scenterbay Rafael for Ruichango JW, Nice to see a typey dog in good miniature size, nice head , reachy neck into well laid back shoulder together with a long upper arm, moved well in all directions, whilst maintaining firm topline. One who the more I watched the more he appealed. Pleased to award him the CC.
2 Small’s – Bronia Gustave of Melriding, quality dog portraying nice type, good length of neck, upper arm could be longer, sinks a little into himself, fair amount of wrinkle on legs, stood little close, comes together nicely when on the move. Another considered for higher award.
Veteran Dog (2)
1 Ergis & Child-Thomas’s – Ch Siouxline Jacob JW, one I’ve always admired in past and again today whilst in good company, spot on for size, so well balanced and in lovely condition for 9 years, reachy neck, nice front still good feet, moved well as always. Lacking a bit of verve today.
2 Beach’s – Riowood Arizona JW, attractive brindle boy, loved his houndy head and reach of neck, little wrinkled over shoulders, enough sternum, still looking good on the move.
Champion Dog (4,2)
1 Mason’s – Ch Teckeltown Suspicious Mind, one judged before as a puppy, certainly now a worth title holder, looked good and well handled, nice head and length of neck into good shoulder, feet could be tighter, moved with level topline.
2 Krengel’s – Lux/Nld Ch I’m The One Les Petits Beaux, loved his clear red, good forechest, elbows could be tighter, some wrinkles over the shoulder, on move was bit exuberant and high stepping in front and carried his tail a bit high on the day.
Minor Puppy Bitch (10,4)
1 Ergis’s – Siouxline Trinity, quality clear red brindle, loved her type, due to correct hound like head, good front assembly, topline needs to firm up and little happy with her tail.
2 Coote’s – Kelsomaid Blazing Comet, Chocolate, found her to be a little anxious and unsettled on examination, nice size, good front assembly and topline, moved well. Owner needs to get her more exposure.
Puppy Bitch (9,4)
1 Hutchings’s – Teckeltowns Kelby Springs into Collidach, well balanced without any exaggeration, head could be a tad more conical and ears closer to head, nice front assembly, moved well and what a little show off, who certainly draws attention to herself.
2 Mason’s – Teckeltown Power of Love, loved the type of this pretty black and tan girl, see she is litter sister to above, loved front assembly, stood little close in rear, out moved by her sister on the day. Could change places another day.
Junior Bitch (9,2)
1 Beach’s – Beachdax California Gurls, lovely orange red, lovely type, excellent fore chest, bit wrinkling over shoulder, nice feet, shade tense on table, certainly moved with good reach and drive.
2 Graham’s – Portmoll Primadonna, pretty loved her size, another one rather anxious on table, nice neck good length upper arm, moved well bit too proud of her tail.
Yearling Bitch (8,1)
1 Bosworth’s – Bronia Solange at Louromi JW, shaded red, nice head, nice neck into shoulder, moved well, one again my notes suggested a bit proud of tail.
2 Herald’s – Winterfield Whiskey Maude, notes just say - loved this red, lots to like if she could get her act together.
Post Graduate (14,4)
1 Hicks’s – Beachdax Run The World with Phoenie, lovely type houndy black brindle, however top size and well over desired weight limit. Needed to be handled to appreciate her virtues. Owner needs bit more ring training in order to show her off to advantage. Put to the right dog could do well in the whelping box. ( I know where I’d go with her)
2 Coote’s – Andeyson Cape Verde of Kelsomaid, chocolate , head not her fortune and ears a bit untidy, however good for size, nice front assembly, good firm topline, toed in a bit going away.
Limit Bitch (11,1)
1 Roberts & Smith’s – Rozamie Magic Moments, another shaded red with lots to like, one today I feel was within desired weight requirements, not an easy one to stack and show off her virtues, particularly liked her front assembly and everything I found then came together when evaluating her on the move. The more she moved the more I like her. RCC in real good company and hopefully with more stack training, more notable wins to come.
2 Tite’s – Rayol Barcelona, another one who I have awarded a RCC in the past, superb front assembly and everything in right place, sadly too plump on the day, possibly not far off a litter recently ??, so had to forfeit the top award , one I hope should get titled in once back in bikini form.
Open Bitch (8,1)
1 Beer, William & Moes’s – Gellijams Fireworks at Cwmdarhian, this girl had a lot what I was looking for on the day, nice conical head and correct almond oblique eyes, reachy neck sloping smoothly into well laid back shoulders, smooth clean elbows, sternum well back, wrap around front, correct ground clearance and correct amount of bone. Powerful driving rear parallel out and back. Delighted to give her the CC & BOB , believe it was her crown today and then thrilled to see her follow it up by going BEST IN SHOW!
2 Robertson’s – Marvale Comanche at Ravenwood, lovely type, another one I have judged a few years back and awarded highly In a lower class, pleased to see she has fulfilled her early promise, head could be a touch stronger, lovely front assembly good length sternum, moved level topline and sound and true in all directions. Called back to consider for higher award.
Veteran Bitch (7,3)
1 Price’s – Samlane Happy As A Lark, going on 8 years old, lovely and yes happy old lady, excellent front assembly, good length of sternum, still nice tight feet, good topline and moved true. Can not believe she was not titled.
2 Hicks’s – Phoenie’s Lacrimosa Requiem, going on 10 years old, another one in good fine fettle for her age, muzzle could be stronger, good length of neck, well assembled front, could be tidier going away.
Champion Bitch (4,2) Hard class two different types.
1 Ch Marvale Jena at Jenivon, acceptable head, good reach neck into shoulder and well angled front assembly, good length of sternum, topline could be firmer and stood touch close in hocks.
2 Krengel’s – Nld/Lux Ch Zazza Degli Aristobassi, up to size, lovely conical hound like head, good reach of neck, a few wrinkles over the shoulder, a touch higher stationed then most here today, could have longer sternum, moved well tail carried a touch high.
