MINIATURE LONG HAIRED DOGS

I would like to thank the club for inviting me to judge at this well run show and to the exhibitors for a large entry. All of whom were in good coat and were well presented. Your main problem seems to be front construction, especially the length of upper arm and feet. Which turn out at ten to two. Too many though have poor feet, flat down on their pasterns. Some seem to have almost no pastern. Good feet have to be bred for, but road work will help. Certainly nails were short and attention had been paid to trimming round the feet. Having had a dog with superb feet, I'm afraid my eye goes to the feet almost straight away. There were a few absentees, some of whom were dogs I liked the look of around the shows, but I had some very nice dogs to go over and I very much enjoyed my time in the ring with you and your dogs.

MPD. (13). 1. Lockett's, Ralines Royal Statesman. Very well constructed. Nicely coated b/t who had a good reach of neck which ran into well placed shoulders. He kept a level topline standing and moving. Ribbing was well back. Prominent forechest, nice short hocks, which allowed him to move with drive. My only concern would be that when he has finished growing and developing. He could be over weight. Just lost out for BPD on maturity. 2. Harrison's, Lacerking Jack Pot. I preferred the head shape and eye of this dog. He is well made with good angles fore and aft. Has a level topline, good spring of rib and length of keel and he is well off for bone. But I did not feel he had quite suvch positive drive as the winner, but his much better feet put him over third. 3. Graham's, Jadag Brookbond.

PD. (7). 1. Welton's, Chelane King of the Castle. Darkish red who has a good head dark almond eye, is well angulated fore and aft. Prominent forechest, ribbing carried well back. Nice short hocks which allowed him to move with drive. A pleasing exhibit who could do well, as he gives a balanced picture from all angles. BPD and with the agreement of my co-judge BPIS. Janet was delighted to then be presented with a trophy given in memory of Sue Corn. 2. Graver's, Melvally Midnight Star. B/t quite good feet and bone. Prominent forechest, ribbing carried well back. Nice short hocks with a good bend of stifle, moved with drive. His better shoulders put him over third, who was a very nice red, and whose eye shape I actually preferred. 3. Crawley's, Doujac Fine and Dandy.

JD. (3). 1. Hazelby's, Evadanne Golden Rod. Cream with substance and good pigmentation, as well as good feet and bone. Good spring of rib, level topline, which he kept on the move. He moved well drive coming from nice short hocks. 2. Locksmith's, Al Capone. B/t who had a pleasing head and eye. Well set on ears, nicely coated. Not such good feet as one and needs to tighten in elbow. But a pleasing exhibit who moved well.

ND. (1). 1. Copper's, Gayvilles Northern Lad at Jumanda. Reserve in a good Minor Puppy class. He has a good front construction with well laid shoulders. Rear movement not quite so positive. But he kept a level topline. His feet could be tighter and I would like a little more length of ribbing.

PGD. (11). 1. Lockett's, Ralines Eye Dentified. Very good bone and substance. Pleasing head and eye, good reach of neck which led to well placed shoulders. Prominent forechest, correct width all through. Level topline standing and moving. This dog moved with extension in front and drive behind. Pleased to award him the CC but felt the bitch just had the edge on showmanship when it came to BOB. 2. Phillip's, Rossglen Reach for the Sky. This young lad as had all dogs carrying this affix, the best feet on the day. All three that I judged had thick tight bunched feet, with good bone. Well done. Good head and reach of neck, well placed shoulders, but slightly narrower than the winner. Correct length of ribbing and level topline, tighter elbows than third. 3. Mee's, Barlaines Crusader.

LD. (19). A good class and some nice dogs went cardless. 1. Amos's, Dacatec Dream Wizard. This young man could have gone home with the CC had he not thrown it and the Reserve away in the challenge by refusing to show himself off. He is a b/t shown in excellent condition. Pleasing head and eye, good reach of neck leading to well placed shoulders, correct spring of rib and length of ribbing, well angulated rear. Moved with enthusiasm and drive. A very nice exhibit, who I am sure can gain his title if he behaves. 2. Coxford's, Arbroath Mr MacKinnon. A very good red with prominence of forechest correct width, level topline, good spring of rib, short coupled, well angulated rear. But not quite the shoulder of one and two, had more drive than third, but not the thick padded feet. 3. Dutson's, Rossglen Di Dadori.

OD. (8). 1. Graham's, Ch. Jdag Bjorn Veeta. RCC. Chocolate with a prominent forechest, good spring of ribbing. Keel carried well back. Short coupled, excellent rear angulation. Just seemed to be turning a foot out in front. But moved out well. Just seemed to lack a little sparkle. 2. Hall and McLachlan's, Gayvilles Northern Classic. I felt his head and markings just detracted a little from a very sound dog, who has correct shoulder placement. Excellent ribbing carried well back. A good bend of stifle. Feet not so good as the winner but better than third. Whose head and eye I preferred. 3. Strachan's, Bronia Fusiller of Calder Park.

OD B/T. (4). 1. Jamison's, Airwaves to Carling via Djeta. Caot of good quality, pleasingly marked, tight feet, good shoulders. Kept a level topline standing and moving. 2. Mee's, Barlaines Crusader. Pleasing exhibit with good bone, level topline, nice rear. But elbows could be tighter, more mature than third. 3. Grave's, Melvalley Midnight Star.

OD ANY OTHER COLOUR. (5). 1. Hartley's, Lyrosh Lord of the Manor. Shaded cream. Pleasing head and expression. Good front and rear. Moved well keeping a level topline. Better feet put him over second. 2. Sharkey's, Darsoms Zaab at Hyshope. Feet let him down. 3. Jamison's, Ir Ch. Djeta Next Millennium.
