Dachshund Club 2002

Judge: Arnold Derry

MINIATURE LONG

Many thanks for the great entry that you gave me. It was a honour to be able to judge such a high quality set of dogs. Although I was very pleased with my winners, everything was not all rosy. I did find that the shoulder placement was a prevalent fault that needs watching carefully, but I do believe that this is so in the other breeds as well. Movement was not at it’s best, although I did allow for grass hop, step and jumpers. Mini -Long:

MP (11) 1. Ridgegrove High Command. Nice red d good head and eye good reach of neck. Execellent depth of keel, nice neat elbows. Strong rear quarters which gave plenty of drive. 2. Paradachs Dream Come True. Had all the atributes of 1. Slightly longer which I preferred and a good level top line, however the drive and movement of 1 was better overall. 3. Dacfolke Snow Prince.

PD (6) 1. Gayvilles Northern Defender; Good coated black and tan, well off for keel, low to ground with no sharp under-cut Well developed head on a good length neck, well-off for bone, moved with drive. 2. Halunke Mister Baggins; Well-off for length, nice underline strong rear quarters, Head not as mature as 1, nice tight elbows. 3. Ridgegrove Cuddley Dudley.

JD (9) 1. Ralines Royal Statesman; Nice coated d, well-off for length good bone and depth of keel. Strong well placed shoulders. Well chiseled head, good eye, Level top line, strong quarters which gave him plenty of drive, and a good follow through. 2. Sanmiks Samamut; A slightly smaller d than 1 but with a neat compact head, good shoulders Depth of keel was good with a v nice level of under-line, movement was o.k. 3. Gayvilles Northern Lad at Jumarda.

GD (2) 1. Gayvilles Northern Lad at Jumard a well coated black/tan nice level top line good quarters. 2. Chelane King of The Castle of the smaller type, not the strength of head as 1 good bone and level top line.

PGD (6) 1. Charpurdy Sir Lancelot Good strong head, lovely dark eye long neck well placed shoulders. Super keel with ribbing well back level top line. With very tight elbows. Exellent quarters, and well let down hocks. 2. Barlaine’s Crusader Equally a lot of the same comments applied here, However I did prefer the head on 1 and found that when stood the head was pushed back to give it a square look, rather than being pulled forward to give it the correct stance. 3. Findowrie Sir George.

LD (15) 1. Denver Jack Frost Well coated cream, lovely Long, Low, Level lines super head, well proportioned, good eye very clean well laid back shoulders good depth of keel, strong ribbing that went well back nice underline well off for bone moved with plenty of drive. I thought that this d was a strong challenger for the C.C. however he did play his owner up in the challenge and spoilled his chance. I’m sure there will be other chances. 2. Paradachs Dream Machine a slightly small type, good head and eye, plenty of depth of keel, level top line good strong quarters and moved with drive. 3. Dialhouse Midnight Velvet.

OD (14) 1. Bidornis Pinball Wizard Well coated dog, with a super well proportioned head, strong neck, and well placed shoulders. Good depth of keel with the follow through all the way back with a nice underline to super quarters which gave plenty of drive I was very pleased to award him with the C.C. 2. Gayvilles Northern Classic A well proportioned d, not the refinement of 1. However nice depth of keel good underline good bone , strong quarters , moved well. 3. Diquest Rollo.

VD (3) 1. Ch Jadag Bjorn Veeta; I can only applaud the judges that saw fit to make this d a champion. He has lost none of his attributes. He has continued to be a roll model for all to follow in this breed, and can still move with plenty of drive. Pleased to award him the Res. C.C. 2. Scandell Talking Pages; Not the aplomb of 1 however nice level top line good quarters moved well. 3. Corrinbar Corn Barley.

MPB (5) 1. Lyndarlea Brown Bear; Good coated chocolate, with good bone, nice depth of keel at this age. Nice feminine head well placed shoulders, and movement for one so young was good. 2. Dacfolke Snow White; good coated cream, nice level top line good shoulders, not the confirmation of 1. Moved o.k. 3. Merumist dawn Treader.

PB (17) 1. Halunke Miss Elanor; Nice red coated bitch, well off for length, lovely feminine head, nice dark eye, super shoulder placement, level top line good deep keel nice spring of ribbing strong quarters gave plenty of drive. 2. ZarcrestGold Designer; Long low, level nice top line, good head, but not the femininity of 1. Nice keel good spring of ribbing has plenty going for her, however movement was not as sure footed as 1. 3. Jadag Wild Heather to Winglow.

JB (14) 1. Dacatec Dream on Baby To Rafthouse; Well coated cream, Nice feminine head, good dark eye. Long Low and Level. Super top line, well placed shoulders good depth of keel well off for bone, strong rear quarters which allowed plenty of hard drive.Pleased to award her Res. C.C. I’m sure there will be more to come. 2. Topgem Louisa may; Nice feminine head good strong neck and well placed shoulders moved well, but preferred the lowness to ground of 1. 3. Dacatec Dreamchaser.

GB (7) 1. Hillstar Maxzina; Good coated red, with a nice head and eye Well off for bone, ample length of keel, lovely length of ribbing, good strong quarters, but could have used them better. 2. Helmfoot Bright Destiny; A lot of the above statement is also true here however I did prefer the keel and movement of 1. 3. Jadag Kadbry Rose of Maydays.

PGB (16) 1. Barlaines Country Charmer; Super confimation Lovely feminine head and dark eye level top line, well placed shoulders, and a good depth of keel a level underline, leading to good strong quarters, movement was not her strong point today but was adequate. 2. Charpurdy New Dawn; Well coated, level top line, not quite the top line of 1. Well off for bone strong quarters and again didn’t use them as well as she might have done. 3. Donnadoon Passion Flower at Rhinestar.

LB (21) 1. Sanmiks Poision Ivy; well coated nice head, however I would have prefered it slightly longer in comparison to its overall conformation. Good depth of keel. Good shoulder placement and tight elbows. Level top line, strong quarters, and used the ground well in her movement. 2. Drymoor secret Delight; Nice head, slightly longer than 1. Good level top line, nice spring of ribbing good quarters moved well nice extention. 3. Wildstar Wright Wroyal.

OB (14) 1. Ch Ralines Royal Acclaim It was a pleasure to be able to go over this bitch, I cannot add anymore attributes to the ones that have already been said. Super head, the best of shoulder placement the tightest of elbows, good depth of keel. Long Low and Level super under line good driving movement from stong quarters. Pleased to award her C.C. and B.O.B And to go BI.S was fantastic. Well done. 2. Ch Zarcrest Ace of Diamonds; Another fine champion with a lot to like about her., and plenty of attributes which are well founded. She does stand taller and is slightly shorter in length than 1. Which takes away the femininity slightly when you place these two together. 3. Ambermist Crepe’ Suzzette.

VB (3) 1. CH. Maxwin Ice in the Sun; Nice red, with good shoulders, good style nice quarters moved well . Enjoyed her day out. 2. Harrimond Bonney Delight of Drymoor; Good coated, nice head but slightly bigger overall than 1 and movement was not as easy flowing. 3. Arbroath Lady Nicola
