DRIFFIELD 2002 Dachshund (Miniature Long Haired) Judge: Mr W E Warke

I was very pleased with the lovely entry and there were many quality dogs. Temperaments were good without exception but I was disappointed with front construction and resulting close action in several exhibits. Hindquarters were generally good. Many dogs appeared to be too short and a few were lacking forechest.
MPD (2). 1 Hayes’ Dolyharp Swansong of Dialhouse. Baby of good quality, a well proportioned body with strong quarters and level top line, he showed well and moved freely but needs to tighten in front, time is on his side and I hope his owner will persevere.
PD (3). 1 Norton’s Halunke Mr Baggins. Striking red d with most beautiful head eye and expression, great length with good ribbing and top line, presented a lovely outline, his good construction enabled him to move out freely with good length of stride, in lovely condition and beautifully presented, I was pleased to award him his first CC; 2 Brook’s Lyndarlea Digby Boy. Lovely cream boy with strong masculine head, good strong body of good length and spring of rib, well constructed and good front and rear angulation, moved well covering plenty of ground but front action not as good as one; 3 Croxford’s Sandwells Cardinal at Arbroath.
JD (9). 1 Harrison’s Lacerking Jackpot. B/t a solid sound little boy of good overall balance, prominent fore chest with good depth and keel extended well back, true free mover relating well to handler, good top line although wavy coat detracted from overall picture; 2 Graver’s Melvalley Midnight Star. B/t another impressive well balance exhibit in lovely condition, could easily change places, similar remarks apply, good front, lovely depth and strong top line, strong well rounded angulated quarters, liked his outline and good overall shape, sound true mover; 3 Brook’s Rhinestar Phoenix at Lyndarlea.
SpYD (1). 1 Welton’s Chelane King Of The Castle. S/r of cobby type but well constructed and balanced head ok, well boned with good spring of rib, moved fluently with drive holding a firm top line, would like more neck, shown in lovely condition.
PGD (7). 1 Boyle’s Zarcrest Gold Dictator. An impressive quality red boy with very good head, long low and level, excellent construction all through and his good length, bend of stifle and correct under line enhanced his lovely flowing lines, moved true both ways, just needs to settle a bit, definitely destined for top honours; 2 Mee’s Barlaines Crusader. B/t another well constructed boy with good head, lovely strong body with good width and spring of rib, firm well rounded quarters and he moved well with drive using his short hocks, unfortunately coat a bit rough; 3 Johnson’s Rhinestar Kindred Spirit.
LD (7). 1 Illidge’s Paradachs Dream Machine. S/r, impressed me for type and overall balance, not the most ideal head and expression but so good otherwise, good prominent sternum, plenty of depth and good follow through of keel, very strong body and lovely rounded quarters, best mover in class; 2 Brook’s Quitrutec Half Day at Lyndarlea. Attractive flat coated cream, good masculine head with dark eye and pigment, good length depth and ribbing, strong level top line, moved well with good ground coverage, just preferred overall balance and type of 1; 3 Holmes’ Tammera Take A Chance.
OD (10). 1 Graham’s Ch Jadag Bjorn Veeta. A lovely Ch chocolate who catches your eye straight away, at 7 still maintaining a beautiful shape and lovely flowing lines, sporting a good flat coat, a very sound d and it was a pleasure to judge him, just not putting all in in the challenge RCC; 2 Barnsdale and Hayward-Barnsdale’s Chriskin Ray Of light. A well constructed solid clear red with prominent fore chest and well angulated shoulders, excellent top and under line, of good length with ribbing well back, plenty of strength in quarters; 3 Jamieson’s Airwaves to Carlang via Djeata.
MPB (7). 1 Crawley’s Doujac Duette. 7 mth b/t of lovely type and presented in shining condition, good width all through, best fo fronts with plenty of depth and good follow through of keel, giving a lovely under line, moved well with confidence, just needs to settle a little in top line; 2 Vine’s Cishelvine Tuscan Dream. Amazing neat 6 mths b/t baby of smaller type than 1, had all the essentials, already well developed fore chest overall construction was excellent, good true movement both ways, presented a lovely outline with strong top line, so well trained; 3 Worswick’s Dolyharp Ode To Joy.
PB (7). 1 Norton’s Halunke Miss Eleanor. Another quality one from this kennel, the same arrogant expression as her brother, long low and level, well developed front and good neck line and shoulders, moved well with purpose showing he lovely lines, presentation A1, just needs to strengthen a little at rear, will trouble the best; 2 Johnson’s Halunke Miss Angelica at Charpudy. Attractive red of good type and sister to above, pleasing head, good body proportions and overall construction, moved well on lovely feet, just not the top line of 1, presented in lovely condition; 3 Kennedy’s Denkena Lady Bear.
JB (6). 1 Brown’s Ch Northbrook Ellie May at Garbosa. Very shapely chocolate of great quality, loved her head and expression, so well constructed with lovely top and underline, strong quarters with good turn of stifle, just flowed around the ring with plenty of drive, unlucky to meet my ticket winner in such dazzling form RCC; 2 Mack and Dunns’ Topgem Louisa May. A very sound impressive b/t of excellent construction slightly taller type than 1, presented a lovely outline with her good front, tight elbows, lovely arched neck, clean shoulders and firm top line, strong well angulated quarters and moved soundly covering plenty of ground; 3 Thomas’ Shenaligh Sweet Dreams.
SpYB (7). 1 Boyle’s Zarcrest Gold Designer. What a lovely s/r girl this is, so good to go over and difficult to fault, lovely front, tight elbows and well angulated shoulders, liked her well rounded feet, looked lovely in profile, good bend of stifle and free flowing movement, just out of p, will easily gain her crown; 2 T Louisa May; 3 Tremble’s Northnook Firefly Summer.
PGB (10). 1 Vines’ Cishelvine Silver Spark. Silver dapple of very nice type, long low and level, strong well ribbed body with good width all through, very strong quarters with short hocks, moved correctly but could have shown more enthusiasm; 2 Johnson’s Charburry New Dawn. Sound appealing red of slightly taller type, good head with nice expression, good front construction with prominent sternum and well filled front, strong quarters, moved and showed well; 3 Brook’s Lyndarlea Pride of Kirton.
LB (8). 1 Illidge’s Paradachs Silver Sixpence. Well coated s/dapple of good type, the 3 L’s applied, pleasing head and eye, strong firm body with good bone and substance, presented a well balanced outline, firm quarters, short hocks, a sound mover; 2 Thomas’ Shenaligh Sweet Symphony. A quality very well constructed red of smaller type, best of fronts with prominent fore chest, good depth and follow through of keel, good oval shape correct feet, super strong quarters and sound true mover, perhaps would like a little more length; 3 Lamb’s Howrige Tar Baby.
OB (8). 1 Wood’s
Wildstar Wright Royal. This was her day, presented and handled to perfection,
her coat was gleaming, an ultra sound little extrovert who demanded attention,
her flowing movement was a joy to watch, a dream standing with her lovely arched
neck, good oval shape and well angulated quarters, I fell for her and was
delighted to award her second CC and owner’s 100th, what an achievement, BOB; 2
Geeson’s Bronia Fleur De Lys at Abydachs. Lovely well constructed balanced b/t,
good head and sweet expression, well angulated front and rear, a firm body with
