WINDSOR 2002 Dachshund (Miniature Long Haired) Judge: Mr L Hammond
|
I was surprised to find so many reds with light nails. The standard clearly states that nails should be black in all colours except chocolate, where brown is permitted. Fronts are still a problem. Too narrow, elbows sticking out and feet at “ten to two”. Nevertheless, I found some very nice dogs.
MPD. (4). 1. Turner’s, Rafthouse Here Comes the Son. B/t. Promising youngster, just 6 months of age, Long and low with good topline. He has a good front and shoulder, with well angulated hindquarters. Moved well. BPD. 2. Croxford’s, Sandwells Cardinal at Arbroath. Rich red, same age as winner but still very much a baby. He has good front construction and a well ribbed body. He moved very soundly. 3. Brooks’, Lyndarlea Digby Boy.
PD. (1). 1. Wallace’s, Cheslan Maximillion. Shaded cream. Fair front, good length of body and ribbing. Good hindquarters and moved out well.
JD. (7). 1. Harrison’s, Lacerking Jack Pot. B/t. Just out of puppy. What a little cracker, a joy to go over. Good head with almond eye. Perfect front construction with good ribbing. Good top and underlines with strong well angulated hindquarters, which he used to power around the ring. RCC. 2. Watkin’s, Melvalley Midnight Star. B/t. Not the head of winner but with a well constructed body. A very sound dog but was not co-operating with his handler on the day. 3. Brooks’, Rhinestar Phoenix at Lyndarlea.
PGD. (9). 1. Wallace’s, Mullion Kuda Thila at Cheslan. Very attractive cream. Good head and eye with good pigment. Excellent length of body with good ribbing. Moved out well. 2. Earley’s, Yelva Prince Charming. B/t. Very sound. Good forechest and shoulders. Correct width between forelegs with good keel and ribbing. Moved true both fore and aft. 3. Brook’s, Maundowne Mutineer at Lyndarlea.
LD. (10). 1. Barnsdale and Hayward-Barnsdale’s, Chriskim Ray of Light. Red. A very sound dog with super front and shoulders, which are tight to the body. His ribbing is good with good top and underlines. He moved out with drive. He carries a heavy coat which can make him look short in neck, which he is not. 2. Maher’s, Landelf Black Jack. B/t. Another super dog. I liked him very much. There is little that you would want to change. His construction is first class. His movement is very sound both coming and going, although he could do with being moved at a faster pace. 3. Croxford’s, Arbroath Mr Mackinnon.
OD. (5). 1. Hall and McLachian’s, Gayvilles Northern Classic. B/cream. Your hands just flow over this boy, and you get a great feeling of satisfaction. Everything is as you want it. From his excellent front and shoulders, though his well ribbed body with good top and underlines, to his good strong hindquarters. He is a very sound mover, but has a habit of lowering his head, but this is a very minor point. CC. 2. Dunn’s, Ashridge Private Ryan. S/r. Yet another very well constructed dog. Not quite the length and depth of the winner, but sound in every way. Good temperament, moved well. 3. Naden’s, Marielle’s Brigadier Jerard.
MPB. (8). 1. Warter’s, Yelva Lady Wilhelmina to Warway. B/t. Good head and eye shape. Well arched neck on good shoulders. Nice ribbing and hindquarters. Very good mover and well handled. 2. Collin’s, Ambermist Midnight Diamond. B/cream. Nice type. Good front construction with good length of body. Good top and underlines, moved well. 3. Banting’s, Indicott Moonglow.
PB. (13). 1. Goddard’s, Minard Krystal Darque. B/t. Here is one for the future, as she will go to the top I am sure. Good all through and a great mover. Very well handled and presented. BP. 2. Boyles’, Zarcrest Gold Designer. Red. In fantastic coat. Very close up to winner and it was a case of splitting hairs. I liked her a lot. 3. Mack’s, Topgem Louisa May.
JB. (11). 1. Jensen’s, Albaneys Skoda. B/cream. Very nice type, so well balanced. Excellent front with good ribbing and short loin. Good dark pigment. Moved very soundly. 2. Edward’s, Barok Beneath my Wings. Red. So well constructed. Good forechest and shoulders. Good bone and feet. Good hindquarters and another that really powered around the ring. 3. Amos’s, Dacatec Pure ‘n’ Simple.
PGB. (9). 1. Wallace’s, Mullion Kuda Rah at Cheslan. A cream with black pigment, including the nails. Gave a very good outline and very pleasing to go over. Sound in front, tight shoulders and moved well. 2. Winchurch’s, Zarcrest Gold Haymaker for Brianolf. B/t. Good overall balance. Good head and eye. Ribbing is good and she carried a firm topline. Moved well. 3. Wall’s, Salalah Sunrise.
LB. (14). 1. Goddard’s, Mullion Bensons Lilly of Minard. Cream. Litter sister to Post Grad winner and dam of the Best Puppy. She well deserved her win in this very good class. She is so well constructed and one of the best movers of the day. Again so well presented and handled. 2. McLachlan’s, Gayvilles Specially for You. B/t. Good forechest and shoulders with correct width between the forelegs and good feet and bone. Keel, ribbing and hindquarters are all good. Firm topline, moved well. 3. Thomas’s, Shenaligh Sweet Symphony.
OB. (11). 1.
Boyle’s, Ch. Zarcrest Ace of Diamonds. B/t. Lovely bitch with the best of
fronts. Prominent forechest, excellent layback of shoulder fitting tight to the
body. Good bone and feet. Good keel and ribbibnng and well angulated
hindquarters. Moved true and with style. CC and BOB. 2. Wood’s, Wildstar Wright
Wroyal. Shaded red. A real glamour girl, very impressive. Sound construction
throughout. Moved with great style and will gain her title without doubt. RCC.
3. Harrison’s, Denver Definitely Maybe at Lacerking.
