MINIATURE LONG HAIRED
It is some years since I last judged this variety and I found the same problems now as then, basically fronts very narrow, little reach of neck, poor feet and these turning out at ten to two and in the odd case quarter to three. Good feet have to be bred and these are the tools that a hound needs to hunt with a certainly to dig with. Rears on the whole were well constructed but when put with a poor front meant that on the move they were tummy tapping. I also found some light nails, even to white nails, which is a sign of poor pigmentation. On the plus side those that were good were very good and the bitches were better than the dogs. That having been said I had an excellent entry with very few absentees, so thank you very much, I enjoyed my day and must thank my stewards, especially for being able to cope with scales that either did not work or were very temperamental.
MPD (5,1abs) 1. Poole’s Findowrie Skye Lord, a red coated lad, who has a good rear with his ribbing carried well back, his shoulders are quite well placed, although he is tending to turn a foot out at the moment. He moved well and looked all of a piece in profile. He was in good condition and was well presented 2. Duchesne’s Scandells Hot Favourite, a brindle who was a little apprehensive, which cost him first place, as it affected his movement, but he has good shoulders and reach of neck, his ribbing is carried well back and his coat is in lovely condition 3. Brooks Lyndarlea Candle In The Dark, who at just six months lacks coat and is rather upright in shoulder, could do with more reach of neck and possible more rear angulation.
PD (4) 1. Brooks Lyndarlea Fleetin Affair, chocolate with good pigmentation, masculine head and expression, he has reach of neck and his ribbing is carried well back, adequate length of keel shoulders acceptable, as was his rear. Feet are not his fortune. Presentation good. Close decision for best puppy dog but in the challenge for B.P.I.B. he was not moving true at all times. 2. Shutts Donnadoon Diplomat. red dog, who is a little upright in shoulder and lacked reach of neck, his ribbing is quite good with reasonable prominence of forechest and length of keel, but he could do with slightly more angulation in the rear. 3. Farmers Jenwood shady Spot, who lost out to the above on shoulder placement and movement.
JD (3) 1. Oxley’s Dinkidax Tidal Wave, red in excellent coat and condition with a pleasing head and expression. Good shoulders, well ribbed up, sound rear construction, he moved out well but his feet could have been tighter. 2. Croxfords Arbroath Lord Of Strathspay, a little upright in shoulder and lacks reach of neck he tends to fall away behind, good length of ribbing and follow through. He was presented in excellent coat and condition, moved out quite well. 3. Broad’s Lyndarlea One Of The Boys a B/T who could do with more weight, but he was nicely presented, he has a masculine head and expression with a nice dark eye.
PGD (9) 1. Butlers Maundowne Momnetum Via Drybrook. R.C.C. Red who was presented in excellent coat and condition, head eye and reach of neck as they should be, correct angulation at the shoulders and the rear end with the ribbing carried well back. Moved and showed well, should give his owner some success. Well done 2. Brooks Lyndarlea Piper Kris cream in excellent coat and condition, shoulders not as well placed as winner, but he has a good rear and ribbing carried well back, with a prominent forechest. Good top and underline. Moved well. 3. Farmers Jenwood Summer Solstice. red, who could probably do with carrying a little more weight, feet are not his fortune, but he was shown in good coat and condition.
LD (8) 1. Brooks Lyndarlea Earth Tremor. Close up for the reserve C.C. He has a masculine head and eye, shoulders well set on with a good reach of neck, ribbing carried well back forechest prominent, good length of keel, well angulated rear, good feet, moved out well. 2. Welton’s Chelane Jasper Carrot, red who lost out to winner on feet, which could be tighter, masculine head and expression, adequate reach of neck, ribbing well back sound body, rear angles good, so he moves well. 3. Norton’s Halunke Just Jervis, good coat and excellent condition, masculine head and expression, good reach of neck, prominent forechest and well placed shoulders, would like his ribbing to extend a little further back and for his feet to be a little tighter, but a nice exhibit all the same.
od (7) 1. Angear’s Ch Ridgegrove Alfie Moon C.C. and B.O.B. How does this exhibitor do it? I first judged her dogs in the early eighties and I thought then how very typy and sound they were, all out of the same mould, so someone who breeds with great care and thought. This dog was shown in excellent coat and condition, he has a masculine head with a prominent forechest good shoulders feet and ribbing. Excellent angulation front and rear and he moved with extension and drive. Looked good in the big ring. 2. Worswick’s Ch Dolyharp Don Basilio J.W. cream another in excellent coat and condition. Front and rear construction good with ribbing carried well back. Good head and reach of neck. Moved out well, lost out to one on feet and nail pigmentation, but a worthy champion. 3. Watkin’s Bidnoris Pinball Wizard cream, whose presentation was excellent, ribbing carried well back, nicely constructed rear, who moved out well but shoulders not as one and two, but a lot to like about this exhibit and one who made a nice trio of males.
Vet (2) 1. Butler’s Ch Drymoor Secret Delight, good front and rear construction with an excellent body, shown in excellent condition, she moved out well and does not look her seven years. A worthy champion. 2. Mc Carthy’s Nagshall Cream Toffee another seven year old shown in good bloom and who moved out well, just a little over weight, due to eating the cat’s breakfast!
MPB (4) 1. Turner’s Rafthouse Bright Prospect, who is just six months old and was a real baby, but has the potential to develop into a pleasing young lady. Feminine head and expression, good reach of neck, shoulders correct and good rear angulation, moved well for one so young. 2. Williamson’s Ralines Magic Dragon Of Barkroyal. One who needs to gain in confidence, nicely constructed all through, another whose feet could be tighter, movement gained her this place. 3. Shone’s Scandells Hot Date At Hanisham, has good coat, bone and feet although her rear is correctly constructed she does tend to rise up behind and her shoulders are a little upright, but she is nicely ribbed up.
PB (4) 1.Thomas’ Shenaligh Teasel B.P.I.B. out of a slightly larger mould than the rest of the class, feminine head and expression, one who has a well constructed front and rear, spring of rib good and carried well back. Moved out well keeping a level topline, excellent coat and condition. 2.Welton’s Cheslan Fenshi Rah red smaller than one, but also very well put together, good body well placed shoulders, prominent forechest adequate reach of neck, lost out to one by a whisker, as her rear is not quite so well angulated, but two very nice bitches. 3. Murphy’s Classidax Enchanting Pearl cream of ten months, who has time to tighten in front assembly, length of ribbing acceptable, but keel needs to lengthen and she is turning one foot out at the present, which was noticeable coming towards me.
JB (8) 1.Angear’s Ridgegrove Halle Berry, one who is all Ridgegrove breeding and is out of the top draw, who should with maturity easily gain her crown, for everything is in the right place, moved truly fore and aft. I shall watch her future with interest. 2. Turner’s Willowheath Silver Sequin From Rafthouse, silver dapple who was close up to one, but who has not got her feet or length, but one who could do well. 3. Elworthy’s Jamiespring Desert Flower. Shaded cream who completed a trio of very nice young ladies, her feet are not quite as good or her shoulders, but she showed herself off well on the move maintaining a level topline.
PGB (14,5abs) 1. Robert’s Denver Suzi Wong black and cream a very nice exhibit from this kennel with a feminine head and soft expression well placed shoulders, good spring of rib and length of keel nicely constructed rear and one who moved well both coming and going maintaining a level top line. 2. Johnson’s Charpudy’s Star Turn red of good type and close up to winner, slightly smaller mould good width through front and well placed shoulders and good feet, nice body with length and acceptable rear construction. Moved out quite well. 3. Butler’s Maundowne Monento To Maxwin. Shaded cream with sound front construction and ribbing carried well back, keel of good length, did not have quite the rear construction of the other two, but a nice exhibit with good feet and bone, who moved out well.
LB (13, 3abs) 1.Wallaces Cheslan Makunu Rah black and cream a very nice exhibit with a prominent forechest well placed shoulders, good rear angles, well off for feet and bone. Good top and underline, very feminine and one who moved well around the ring, looked good from all angles. 2. Angear’s Ridgegrove Dancing Shadow B/T another very good exhibit from this kennel, who was close up to the winner in all departments but had not quite got her length, but non the less one to be proud of. 3. Holmes Tanmera Touch Of Elegance. red with good bone, front correctly angulated nice body, top and underline, who moved out well, but not quite the tight feet of one and two.
OB (9) 1.Goddard’s Ch Minard Krystal Darque having written about her so often in breed notes it was a pleasure to go over her but she had to work hard for this class, for there were some lovely bitches in it, some of whom deserve their crown. This is though with out doubt a lovely bitch who has everything in the right place and who moved out with style, her coat was in great bloom, but for me she has just too much feathering and coming towards you she looks like the winged horse of Pegasus, I can understand why some people at the ring side say she is out at the elbow, which she certainly is not. I would also have slightly less on the tail, for they are a hound what ever their size and I am not sure how she would cope digging or going to ground. The dog took B.O.B. over her because of the picture he showed 2. Wallace’s Cheslan Reethi Rah R.C.C. one out of a similar mould to Krystal and looking at the breeding I see they are half sisters both having the same sire and their dams are closely related. This bitch is well constructed both front and rear with an excellent top and underline, she moved out with extension and drive but she just lost out in that, her feet are not quite so tight, and she lacks just a smidgen in length, but I understand she has two C.Cs and now ten reserves, so is one who really deserves her title and I hope it soon comes. 3. Roberts’ Ch Denver Babycham cream bitch who I have always liked and who completed a trio of very good bitches.
