Birmingham National 2007 Dachshund (Miniature Long Haired) Judge: Mr Sigurd Wilberg
|
This was my first time giving CCs to Dachshunds
in the UK, but I was passed by the FCI in the mid 70s. I must say that I was
positively surprised by the overall quality of the dogs I judged. I was very
pleased with most of my class winners and my top winners were excellent. I did,
however, think that too many lacked sufficient depth of brisket and spring of
rib. They were too shallow. I do of couse know the size in mini Dachshunds can
be a problem, but quite a few were too small and rather toyish. Heads were often
too short and the eyes too round.
MPD (6,2) 1 Turner’s Rafthouse Herr Flick. Promising youngster of high
class. Excellent neck and shoulder, well developed in front and good quarters.
Moved very well. 2 Roberts Wingcrest Goldfinger with Denver. Another attractive
youngster. Lovely head, moves well around the winner but Goldfinger had the
better topline. 3 Beal’s Chriskins Sun Screen at Kizbeal.
PD (3) 1 Shutt’s Sanmick Sir Galahad at Donnadoon. Quality dog with a
nice head. Well developed in body, moves well. There was a lot to like about
him. 2 Keay’s Lyndarlea Just in Time for Essendy. A dog with many virtues. His
body and topline are superb, but I preferred the head of the winner. 3 Bedford’s
Wynndax Latte Leo of Dinkidudlor.
JD (6,1) 1 Oxley’s Dinkidax Donny Rova. Lovely dog with a good head. Well
constructed and moves very well with an excellent topline. 2 Warren’s Leo
Mondial. An attractive dog which is lovely on the move, but could be a bit more
confident. 3 Brown’s Devoncream Dew N Thyme.
PGD (8,1) 1 Graham’s Jadag Fornton’s Special. Top quality dog of high class.
Beautiful head, well constructed and with an excellent front and keel. He moves
very well indeed and is very special. I was pleased that he was a son of my BOB,
one of the very best. Res CC. 2 Farmer’s Jenwood Summer Solstice. Nice dog and
well constructed. He moves very well but I preferred the head and topline of the
winner. 3 Warren’s Leo Mondial.
LD (8,1) 1 Oxley’s Wild Hatch Cropston Boy of Dinkidax. Quality dog with
a lovely neck and shoulders. He moves well and has class. 2 Breese’s Silkdown On
A Parade. JW. This dog had the outline and the substance I was looking for. He
moves well around the rinng but he is too weak behind. 3 Poole’s Findowrie Skye
Lord.
OD (8,1) 1 Lockett and Lockett-Walter’s Ch Ralines Royal Statesman. This is
the King! He moves and stands like a professional athlete and never puts a foot
wrong. I loved his head and outline. His front assembly is as perfect as you can
get it and he has strong, powerful quarters. I was not surprised when I was told
I had given him his 29th CC, he surely deserves them! BOB. 2 Poole’s Findowrie
Man About Town. This is another high quality Dachshund. He moves and stands very
well indeed and with a perfect topline, but he has not quite got the presence of
the winner. Having said that he is a lovely dog. 3 Barnsdale and
Hayward-Barnsdale’s Chriskim Ray of Sunlight. JW.
MPB (5) 1 Thomas’ Shenaligh Sweet Shadow. Promiising bitch puppy of high
class. Well developed for age and with an excellent outline. Excellent mover.
Best Puppy. 2 King’s Bronia Lasting Impression with Kingsdax. Another promising
youngster, nice head and moves well. 3 Breese’s Kingsday Lady Luck.
PB (1) 1 Hanney’s Bronia Navarra. A quality bitch puppy which stands and
moves well.
JB (10,3) 1 Norton’s Halunke Shallimar. Excellent bitch who showed very
well. Lovely outline and stands and moves like a princess. I did consider her
for the Res CC, but she lost out on maturity. I was, of course, pleased to see
that she is also sired by my BOB. 2 Cooper’s Jumanda’s Gypsy Silver. Quality
bitch all through. Excellent front and good quarters, but I preferred the winner
on the move. 3 Way’s Messines Magic Carousel.
PGB (5,1) 1 Cooper’s Garbosa Tilly the Tinker ay Jumanda. Excellent bitch
with a lovely head. Moves very well. 2 Johnson’s Charpurdy Mille McStar. Quality
bitch, well constructed and moves well but preferred the topline of the winner.
3 Wallace’s Cheslan Fenfushi Rah.
LB (9,2) 1 Roberts’ Denver Suzi Wong. Lovely bitch of high class, excellent
head and outline. Well developed in front, good strong quarters. Moves with
drive and determination, a great bitch of the correct type. Res CC. 2 Thomas’
Shenaligh Teasel. Similar to the winner in quality and type. I did like her very
much. She is a good mover but I preferred the topline of the winner. 3 Wallace’s
Cheslan Makunu Rah.
OB (9,1) 1 Angear’s Ridgegrove Halle Berry. This bitch is a pearl! She has
an exquisite head and expression and a beautiful outline. When you go over her
she is full of substance but she is easily within the weight limit. Her front
and quarters are to die for and she moves like a queen. She is very special and
I was pleased to be told that she was made up on the day. CC. 2 Wallace’s Ch
Cheslan Reethi Rah. Very similar in type and quality to the winner. She is a
beautiful bitch but I preferred the winner on the move. 3 Roberts’ Ch Denver’s
Babycham.
