Whilst pleased with my principal winners it was
evident that many exhibits who looked reasonable stacked, fell apart on the
move. Fronts have, I think, improved – hindquarters on many have not, with some
dogs showing no evidence of drive from the rear. I was looking for a sound
Dachshund in hard condition that was able to cover the ground with ease. Most
were well presented, and temperament on the whole was excellent.
VD/B (3,1) 1 Bainbridge’s Lynbain Lady Liza. Black & tan bitch shown in
super coat and condition. Excelled in hind movement, keeping a firm topline. Not
showing her age at all. 2 Shackleton’s Edmay Kalyana Mitra. Black & tan bitch of
nice type, well constructed throughout but not the hindquarters of 1.
MPD (5,2) 1 Roberts’ Wingcrest Goldfinger With Denver. Super cream dog
with lovely bone, plenty of body and elegant head. Neat front with good pro
sternum, well laid shoulders with good strong ribbing. Moved well, just needing
to tighten up and mature on. 2 Leyshon’s Picklescott Zigmund. Beautifully marked
silver dapple boy of good type, but rangier than 1. Well ribbed and in good
coat. Moved soundly but not rear drive of 1 and needs to body up. 3 Beal’s
Chriskim Sunscreen At Kizbeal.
PD (2,1) 1 Shutt’s Sanmik’s Sir Galahad At Donnadoon. Black & cream dog
going through the teenage stage. Rather rangy at present and would benefit from
more body on him. Moved steadily, keeping his topline.
JD (3) 1 Brooks’ Lyndarlea Pedro. Black & cream dog shown in good, hard
condition. Decent front, good lay of shoulder. Well ribbed with strong loin.
Well-made rear which he used on the move, keeping a firm topline. 2 Oxley’s
Dinkidax Donna Rova. Black & cream dog who lost out to 1 on immaturity. Good
head proportions, ribbing and loin. Needs to tighten fore and aft. Moved
soundly. 3 Welton’s Chelane Master Class.
GD (3,1) 1 Brooks’ Lyndarlea Silver Starlite. Well-marked silver dapple
dog. Houndy head with good length of neck, tidy front, well-ribbed. A little
unsettled on the move, but nonetheless sound and kept a firm topline. 2 Dring &
Harris’ Sonsrymes The Swift Master. Shaded cream boy carrying too much weight. A
bit narrow in front and rather short-coupled all through.
PGD (3)1 Kennedy’s Denkena’s Solar Flare. Cream dog of lovely type.
Masculine head, correct length of neck. Nice front with well-placed shoulders,
well off for ribbing with strong loin. Really uses his rear on the move keeping
a firm topline. 2 Dring & Harris’ Mardachrob Milky Bar Kid In Sonsrymes. Shaded
cream with fair head proportions. Rather stuffy in neck, movement a bit erratic.
3 Nottingham’s Sanmik The Count.
LD (12,3) 1 & Res CC Illidge’s Paradachs Murphy Moonshine. Upstanding black
& tan dog of super type. Elegant, houndy head with dark eye. Super length of
neck with well-laid, clean shoulder. Well ribbed-up, strong loin and well
angulated rear. Moved like a train, showing a clean pair of heels and keeping a
good topline. Ran CC winner very close, hope he gets his title soon. Well
handled. 2 Oxley’s Wildhatch Cropston Boy Of Dinkidax. Very smart brindle dog,
not a big lad but has all the essentials and unlucky to meet 1 today. Tidy front
with well-laid shoulders, decent ribbing and loin and well-proportioned rear.
Moved soundly, but not quite the hind extension of 1. 3 Brooks’ Lyndarlea Earth
Tremor.
OD (5,1) 1 & CC Brooks’ Lyndarlea Choc Ice. This chocolate dog surprised
me greatly. Not a glamorous dog but super sound all through. His colour, being
rather pale for a chocolate, does him no favours but when I got my hands on him
I felt this could easily be overlooked. Houndy, yet elegant, head, correct
length of neck and good layback of shoulder. Excellent ribbing and short, strong
loin. Excelled in hind construction and moved really well, showing terrific hind
extension. Shown in terrific condition, as were all this exhibitor’s dogs. Well
done. 2 Poole’s Findowrie Man About Town. Very honest, red dog. Again, not a
glamorous type, but found him most pleasing to go over. Good head proportions
with tidy front and good ribbing. Driving nicely behind, keeping his topline on
the move. Did everything his handler asked him to, but not a scrap more! 3
Illidge’s Paradachs Dream Come True.
MPB (7,2) 1 King’s Bronia Lasting Impression With Kingsdax. Shaded cream
bitch of nice type. Feminine head, correct length of neck, reasonable layback of
shoulder. Good length of rib, well-angulated rear. Moved soundly, with good
topline. Just needs to tighten in front, nicely presented. 2 Pratt’s Vineacre
Winter Cream. Shaded cream of similar type and by same sire. Not much to split
these two here. This young lady is, at present, rangier and not as firm in
topline as 1, but these two could easily change places on another day. 3 Hine’s
Ivyjo’s Miss Lily.
PB (3,1) 1 BP & Res CC Brown’s Garbosa Chocolate Vogue. Stunning
chocolate bitch just coming up to a year old and very mature for her age. A
lovely dark, bitter chocolate so rarely seen nowadays. Prominent pro sternum and
good depth of keel. Tight in front with well-laid shoulders, super length of
neck and good ribbing. Short, strong loin and super hind angulation. Moved with
drive & extension, keeping a firm topline at all times. A lovely bitch who
should easily gain her title. 2 Jury’s Torwood Too Good To Be Tru. A very raw
baby of just 6 months who was, unfortunately, completely out of her depth here.
Still very hesitant and not moving well, needs time.
JB (6) 1 Leyshon’s Pidklescott Violet. Elegant black & tan bitch of super
type, very showy and sound all through. Super head, with good length of neck.
Good front with evident pro sternum, super shoulders and rib. Well-angulated
rear, moved with drive & extension keeping her topline at all times. Pushed hard
for Res CC. A lovely exhibit. 2 Stagg’s Butterfly Geisha Girl. Black & tan bitch
of similar type to 1. Feminine yet houndy head, tidy front and good shoulders.
Well-ribbed and decent hindquarters, moved soundly but not the drive of 1. 3
Hanney’s Bronia Navarra.
GB (8,1) 1 Brown’s Garbosa Chocolate Vogue. 2 Brace’s Xemxija Ice On Fire.
Very smart cream bitch, unlucky to meet 1 here or would have won this class.
Elegant head with good reach of neck, nice front and layback of shoulder. Good
length and depth of rib, well angulated rear which she used on the move, keeping
a firm topline. 3 Sidgwick’s Paulian Shady Lady.
PGB (7,1) 1 Leyshon’s Picklescott Posy. Red bitch, again of lovely type
from this kennel. Very near & tidy all through, short of coat but had nothing to
hide. Elegant head & reachy neck, super front and shoulder. Super length &
spring of rib, well proportioned hindquarters. Moved soundly and with drive. 2
Poole’s Findowrie Wine N Roses. Black & tan bitch, sound and honest sort of
bitch, not as glamorous as 1 and also a bit short of coat. Well constructed all
through and moved really well, keeping her topline at all times. 3 Bell’s Lotus
Blossom Delucy.
LB (10,2) 1 CC & BOB. Roberts’ Denver Suzi Wong. Most elegant black &
cream bitch, typical of this kennel, put down to the minute and in super coat.
Classy head & correct length of neck, prominent front with plenty of width.
Super shoulders and ribbing which carries well back. Short, strong loin & super
hindquarters. Moved effortlessly round the ring with drive & extension, showing
a clean pair of heels. Handled very well. CC & BOB. No doubt will quickly gain
her title. A lovely bitch, well done. 2 Holmes’ Tammera Touch Of Elegance.
Shaded red bitch, elegant head with good reach of neck. Tidy front with good
length of ribbing. Moved soundly but lacked the drive of 1, nonetheless a nice
exhibit. 3 Goddard’s Minard Calypso Rose.
OB (7,2) 1 Boyle’s Zarcrest Gold Legacy. Clear red, short-coupled bitch,
shown in super coat & condition. Nice front with evident pro sternum, tight
elbows and good length of rib. Well angulated rear which she uses on the move,
showing good drive & extension. Very well handled. 2 Cooper’s Garbosa Tilly The
Tinker At Jumanda. Black & tan bitch of nice type. Good head proportions & neat
front, well ribbed. Sound, steady mover. 3 Kennedy’s Denkena’s Lady Bear.
