MINIATURE LONGHAIRED
Although I do not wsh to
generalse and be too crtcal of ths lovely breed I felt that t would be
approprate and necessary to note my concerns. My prme concern was the percentage
of dogs wth major front constructon faults and because of ths a deteroraton n
movement. Some of the shoulder placements and n some cases almost non-exstant
upper arms were totally alen to proper dachshund shoulders and n turn ths s
producng a very dfferent and ncorrect movement. It s very dffcult as a judge to
watch a hound movng and wonder f a) t s gong to make t to the end of the rng and
b) have we got enough tme to wat for t to get there. Dachshund movement from any
varety should be flowng long strdes (relatve to a small dog) coverng the ground
wth ease. Ths doesn't neccessarly mean fast but just effortless and extendng.
Ths wll only be attaned wth well angulated shoulders and correct length of upper
arm balanced wth well angulated quarters. I h ave no doubt there are some good
dogs and some clever breeders but I hope everyone wlll consder the vrtues of
mantanng the true dachshund movement as a breed characterstc and ncorporate ths
nto ther breedng plans.
