MINIATURE LONG HAIRED
It was an honour to be invited to judge at The Dachshund Club and I thank the club for inviting me, and thank you to the exhibitors for the lovely entry. I was slightly disappointed in the lack of quantity of quality. I found far too many with short upper arms and cut up underlines, but movement would have to be my main concern. Many dogs looked lovely stood but really let themself down on the move, tummy tapping toy movement was very common, Dachshunds are hounds and should move as such. I also found bad pigment in reds has crept in which is not good. Also teeth in many cases need attention and presentation let many down. On the plus side temperaments in general were good with the exception of one and weight seems to be under control. I felt very priviledged to have Mr Alan Sharman sat at the side of the ring. Novices of the breed, take a look back at the Southcliff prefix and look at the many champions he bred, all of the same lovely type. This is what you should adhere to. MPD (6) 1 Barnsdale & Hayward-Barnsdale's Chriskims Blaze Of Light. Shaded red youngster of 7 months who shows promise for one so young, good reach of neck, well angulated quarters, decent length of underline, free movement. Best PD. 2 Burge & Rossiter's Creekpit Hot Chocolate. Sweet chocolate who shows promise but needs time. 3 Holden's Lyndarlea Black Ace At Sengepabu. PD (5) 1 Norton's Halunke Top Toddy. Red who lacked a little confidence but showed well enough for me to see his virtues, he has a lovely head and eye, good reach of neck into well laid shoulders, neat front, moved ok, this will improve when he gets his confidence. 2 Woodage's Totonian Toscanini. Black and tan who needs to tighten in elbow but has time on his side. 3 Leyshon's Picklescott Vincenzi. JD (6) 1 Blackshaw & Roberts' Ravenways Tornero. Black and tan, young lad of lovely type, just needs to mature a little then he could trouble the best, really nice to go over and his movement is very sound, his handler just needs to gain a little confidence, which I am sure he will do. 2 Halsall's Kiddles Medusa. Sweet boy who has a lovely reach of neck into well angulated shoulders, nice depth of forechest although would prefer a longer length of under rib, moved ok. 3 Palin's Sanmik Pikcard. PGD (6) 1 Fsandis Rugosa Saint Barnabas. Red boy of lovely type, in great condition, good length of neck, neat tidy front with plenty of width through correct ribbing and really strides out on the move. 2 Poole's Findowrie City Slicker. Again a nice type but lost out to above on front assembly. 3 Hume's Zoflora Connor. LD (6) 1 Lockett-Walters & Lockett's Metedale Dick Turpin. Really well constructed dog who has a lot to offer the breed, lovely neat well constructed shoulder placement, nice epth of ribbing reaching well back, excellent topline held well as he moves truly coming and going, should make up, unlucky to meet open winner. Res CC. 2 Hallett's Cagebrook Jimmy Choo At Loretto. Rich red boy of nice type who is neat and well constructed but for me just lacks in pigment. 3 Crawley & King's Creekpit Black Opal At Summerview. OD (5) 1 Woods' Ch Wildstar Wrenowned. Black and tan boy who draws the attention for his correct breed type from top to tail he is quality, lovely neat well laid shoulders, correct top and underline, angulated quarters, true movement fore and aft, top this with excellent presentation and you have the whole package. I was delighted to award him CC and BOB and see him go BIS. 2 Poole's Findowrie Skye Lord. Nice type of dog who is sound all through with true movement, just unlucky to come up against my CC and Res CC today. 3 Brown's Devoncream Dew N Thyme. VD/B (2) 1 Broad's Jenwood Ring Of Bells. 7 year old who certainly doesn't look his age, enjoyed his day out, especially the sausage at the end. 2 Ir Ch Jadag Kadbry Rose Of Donnadoon. 8 years old, beautifully presented, again enjoying her day. MPB (8) 1 Palin's Sanmik Amber. Elegant red baby who shows promise for such a youngster, neat front, good length of top and under rib, rounded quarters, moved soundly. 2 Priestley's Hillstar Amberlicious. Red baby of nice type but needs time. 3 Woodage's Rossdach Secret Society For Totonian. PB (9) 1 Worswick's Indicott In Tune With Dolyharp. Brindle lady with lots of promise, excellent front assembly, shoulder, ribbing and hind angulation, lovely free movement. BP. 2 Rees' Rafthouse Classic Cliche At Amical. Nice type of puppy who needs time but given that should mature into a nice bitch. 3 McSorley's Northnook Lacey Jane. JB (10) 1 Metcalf's Metadale Lallique. Red young lady who catches the eye for her correct breed type, lovely head and eye, reach of neck and length of ribbing, just needs to tighten up a little in elbow which I am sure she will do, then will trouble the best. 2 Norton's Halunkes Gabriella. I really liked this bitch, she is most promising, just needs to coat up a little to finish the overall picture, but one who should do well. 3 Thomas' Shenaleigh Sweet Surprise. PGB (10) 1 Norton's Halunke Casalani. This breeder is to be congratulated for her correct type and all so well presented. I liked this black and tan very much, she is very neat all through, lovely shoulder placement, good top and underline, excellent well angulated quarters, used well on the move. 2 Burgess & Rossiter's Barok Bellerania At Creekpit JW. Again a neat little girl but lost out on front movement of the above. 3 Murphy's Classidax Against All Odds. LB (12) 1 Jamieson's Djeata Cosmopolitan. Black and tan who impressed me, she is very sound all through and has some substance about her, loved her head, neat front, excellent feet, nicely rounded quarters and free movement, both front and back. 2 Turner's Rafthouse Eternity. Have always liked this breeders dogs and this lady was no exception, she is only young and needs to coat up to finish the complete picture, when she does she will reach the upper class. 3 Welton's Chelane Pure Magic. OB (13) 1 Goddard's Minard A Girl Like Me. What a little star, she came into the ring, demanded my attention and got it, sheer quality from top to tail, beautiful head and eye, correct dark pigment, good length of neck, well laid back shoulders, tight elbows, the best length of top and under rib, nicely rounded quarters and for me she is absolutely stunning on the move, an object lesson on what true hound movement is all about, add to this presentation of the highest standard and you have a beautiful very worthy champion which I was delighted to make her on the day. CC. 2 Holmes' Ch Tammera Touch Of Elegance. Lovely red lady who is as her name suggests, very elegant, beautiful to go over and many of the same remarks apply, as above I just felt that today she just lacked a little enthusiasm on the move, nevertheless a lovely bitch. Res CC. 3 Blackshaw's Ravensways Drama Queen.
