MINIATURE LONG HAIRED
Many thanks to the society for inviting
me to award my first set of CC’s in this variety and to the exhibitors who gave
me a good entry which I believe is representative of the breed at the moment.
Whilst I was delighted with my principle winners and the majority of my class
winners there were considerable areas where the breed needs to improve. Many are
very flat footed and weak in pasterns, this would prevent them from doing the
job they were intended to do. Too many in my opinion are verging on toyish
rather than a workmanlike hound which could do a days work, and many need far
more exercise than they get. Exhibitors who present their dogs with long nails,
dirty teeth, untrimmed feet and coats in poor condition are in my opinion
wasting their money, a few extra minutes the night before could make all the
difference to a lot of these dogs, and please make sure your dogs are trained
before you subject them to the show ring. Many had totally incorrect
pigmentation particularly reds and creams with chocolate nails and noses which
is an ugly fault not allowed according to the UK Breed Standard and was
penalised heavily. Please be aware of what colours your dogs may carry before
deciding on a suitable mate otherwise this problem is going to escalate.
MPD (4,1) 1 Holden’s Lyndarlea Black Ace at Sengepabu. B/Cr boy in good
coat for age and presented well. More mature than the others in the class.
Lovely head with good eye shape and expression. Decent lay of shoulder and good
pro-sternum, well ribbed back with correct spring. Feet a little flat and weak
in pasterns but with exercise as he matures this should improve. Moved well. 2
Burge & Rossiter’s Creekpit Hot Chocolate. C/T, balanced dog with a good head,
would like truer action in front but needed to settle on the move to really
assess. 3 Way’s Sudasam A Touch of Magic.
PD (5,1) 1 King’s Kingsdax Chase The Dream. B/Cr well grown
masculine dog, beautiful head, good front, topline ok, used rear well on the
move. 2 Brooks’ Lyndarlea Bubbles. C/Dapple with very pale tan, taller on the
leg than one but this gave his scopey side movement which I like. Good head,
good topline carried correctly on the move. Would like to see more angulation
both ends but a well balanced dog. 3 Woodage’s Totonian Toscanini.
JD (5) 1 Boyles’ Zarcrest Ice Conqueror. Stunning Shaded Cream boy of
just the type I like. Beautiful head, correct front, good neck leading into
correct topline held perfectly on the move. He was out of coat but this just
showed his effortless reachy movement even better which is true coming and
going. He eats up the ground despite not appearing to put much effort in.
Presented to perfection and didn’t put a foot wrong to win his 2nd CC & BOB. 2
Holden’s Sengepabu Saint Valentine. Lovely red boy of good type. Lovely head,
neck and good front assembly. Excellent topline carried well on the move, good
drive from behind. Would like slightly tighter elbows but a lovely dog and a
well deserved BPD. 3 Leyshon’s Picklescott Vincenzi.
PGD (7,1) 1 Poole’s Findowrie City Slicker. Red dog of good
type, ok in head, good front assembly, level topline, good rear which he used
well on the move. Powered round the ring. Would just have liked more neck. 2
Latham-Jackson’s Nagshall Black Nite. 5yr old B/T which really appealed. Taller
than most but so elegant, stunning head, correct topline held well on the move,
would like a little more angulation behind but moved really well with excellent
drive. 3 Fsadni’s Rugosa Saint Barnabas.
LD (7,2) 1 Cawley & King’s Creekpit Black Opal at Summerview JW
ShCM. B/T dog of super type. Very good head and front. Excellent topline and
sound rear which he uses really well on the move. In beautiful condition. Pushed
very hard in the challenge. 2 Hallett’s Cagebrook Jimmy Choo at Loretto. S/R dog
who needed his coat to finish the picture. Close up to 1 and a good type. Good
head, excellent front construction, good topline. Moving a little wide behind at
times. 3 Brooks’ Lyndarlea Fizzical Attracts JW.
OD (7,1) I was splitting hairs between my top 3, lots to like about all
of them. 1 McAlpine & Walsh’s Ir Ch Walpines Flamin Red. Red dog of excellent
type, looked like he could work all day. Very sound all through. Excellent
shoulder placement and long ribbing, powerful quarters which he uses so well on
the move. Sound as a bell and should get his UK title with ease, very well
deserved RCC to the lovely junior dog. 2 Wood’s Ch Wildstar Wrenowned. Glamorous
B/T with tremendous coat (even a little too much), lovely head with correct
eyes, good neck leading into well angulated shoulders. Ribbing could be slightly
longer, good quarters which he uses well. On the final go around he just dipped
his topline slightly which was the deciding factor but close up and a lovely
well deserved champion. 3 Poole’s Findowrie Skye Lord
MPB (7,1) 1 McCarthy’s Nagshall Puppet on a String. Cream baby who is
all of a piece and exactly how I would want her at this stage. Ok in head, good
front and topline, neat rear. Moved well. 2 Woodage’s Rossdach Secret Society
for Totonian. S/R ok in head and neck, would like a straighter front. Needs to
relax more when standing. Moved ok. 3 Brace’s Xemxija Ice Cristal.
PB (5,1) 1 Rees’ Rafthouse Classic ClichE9 at Amical. S/R bitch who
excels on the move. Good head and neck leading into excellent shoulders, correct
topline held well on the move. Used her rear well on the move. Looks like she
could move all day and this combined with her correct conformation won her BPIB.
2 Worswick’s Indicott In Tune With Dolyharp. Red/Brindle of good type, lower to
the ground than 1. Looked a picture stacked, in beautiful coat and condition.
Excellent head and front, level topline, good rear. Moved well but preferred the
leg length of 1, but a very nice bitch. 3 McCarthy’s Nagshall Puppet on a
String.
JB (6) 1 Thomas’ Shenaligh Sweet Surprise. B/T of a lovely type,
excellent head, true front, good topline which she holds well on the move. Moved
ok but would have liked more drive behind in the challenge. 2 Brooks’ Lyndarlea
Muffin. Elegant B/Cr with a good head, excellent front assembly. Ok in rear and
would like more drive from behind on the move. In lovely condition.
PGB (10,1) 1 Johnson’s Charpurdy Just Iss. Elegant B/T who
looks a picture on the move. Excellent head and neck, good front assembly,
correct topline and good rear which she used to advantage on the move. The more
this bitch moved the better she got and really shone in the challenge to win the
RCC in good company. 2 Breese’s Chriskim’s Sun Kissed with Silkdown NAF. S/R
neat bitch, excellent front assembly and rear angles. Ok in head but would like
more neck. Moved well. 3 Dring & Harris’ Bronia Royal Rouge at Roehampton.
LB (9,1) 1 Lockett-Walters’ Ralines Aubra Jean. Quality B/Cr in
excellent coat. Lovely head, good front and shoulders, correct topline held well
on the move. Used her good rear well on the move. 2 Way’s Ralines Butternut
Posh. Cream in good coat and condition. Nice head, ok for length of neck and
neat shoulders. Good topline at all times. Moved well. 3 Welton’s Chelane Pure
Magic.
OB (7) 1 McAlpine & Walsh’s Ch/Ir Ch Walpines Queens Courtier. It is no
secret that I love this B/T bitch, so elegant and just the type I adore.
Beautiful head, reachy neck leading into text book shoulders, excellent ribbing
and topline held perfectly at all times. Very good rear which she uses so well
on the move. In glorious coat and condition. Won the CC with ease but decided to
play up in the challenge for BOB and after a tough battle gave way to the young
dog. 2 Holmes’ Ch Tammera Touch of Elegance. S/R I have long admired for type
and soundness. Very balanced bitch with good angulation both ends. Lives up to
her name perfectly, in lovely coat and condition. Not putting her all in on the
move today. 3 Jamieson’s Djeata Spring Blossom.
