BEST OF BREED: KING'S KINGSDAX REGAL KNIGHT
MINIATURE LONG HAIRED
A shame it was cool and wet, I am sure many would
have shone through more in the sun and great outdoor space available!Shoulders
and upper arms are my main concern, still.Weighing is, I believe a useful tool,
but I am not fanatical, I appreciate the discretion over dogs that tip the
scales, although this was not a problem today. It seems to me that those on the
upper limit for size have the scope that affords the benefit of better
conformation.Coming from a breed where black eye rims, and darkest of eye is an
absolute must with the red pigment, perhaps I am prejudiced against the lighter
eyes and very pale eye rims of the chocolates. To my eye they certainly spoil the
head and expression. It was my decision to not call in ‘seconds’ in the
challenges.
JD 1. McCarthy’s Nagshall All Guns Blazing, stood alone, honest
dog, steady moving.Res. Best Dog
OD 1 King’s Kingsdax Regal Knight, balanced, well proportioned, nicely
made and moved out well holding a good topline. His head and reach of neck
completed the picture for me today.Best Dog, BOB. 2. McCarthy’s Nagshall Polar
Seal, not quite a Veteran, and age has not diminished him, but not quite the
excellent conformation or finish of winner.
PB 1.Thomas’ Shenaligh Sweet Surprise, lovely puppy, good conformation,
balance, proportions, and moved out well.Best Puppy, and shortlisted in the
group I understand. 2. Brown’s Donnadoon Hollyberry at Garbosa, another well
made nicely balanced puppy. 3.Oxley’s Dinkidax Dollipop
JB 1 Turner’s Rafthouse Eternity, presence, balance, conformation, she
had it! Moving she covered the ground – at speed, I put this down to
over-enthusiasm which will gradually be tempered, as it does not display the
accurate reach and drive sought. It is a fine line between too much, just right,
and staid! That said, I could not resist her for Best Bitch! 2 Way’s Ralines
Butternut Posh, another honest bitch, about right in all departments. 3
McCarthy’s Nagshall My Fair Maiden
PGB 1 Leach’s Miriadachs Summer Breeze, nice enough, although not quite
the front I was looking for, and felt her outline would benefit from being
stacked a little longer. 2 McCarthy’s Nagshall Daisy Duke, front movement let
her down today.
OB 1 Thomas’ Shenaligh Sweet Shadow, very nice bitch, who just about
had it all.Reserve Best Bitch, couldn’t match the Junior for ring presence, (and
I prefer the puppy!) 2 Shutt’s Chocolate Enchantress of Donnadoon, another
really nice bitch, just didn’t quite have the overall balance of 1.3 Brown’s Ch
Garbosa Chocolate Vogue
Wire Haired OD 1 Rowe’s Boloria Calico Jack, unchallenged, but did not
diminish his qualities, strong bone, well made, steady mover. A very nice
dog.Best Dog
PB 1.Davis’ Atahira Centissima, still very much a puppy, but if it all
comes together she has the makings of a very nice bitch.Best Puppy 2. Cook’s
Warrsan Melody at Patlyns, nice enough, but not quite the underline I was looking
for.
OB 1 Rowe’s Boloria Anastasia, if I looked stunned – I was.For me this
bitch epitomised in Wires the saying “see a smooth – see a dachshund”.I loved
her outline, balance, shape, femininity, substance and coat. She could not be
anything but my Best Bitch and BOB. 2 Speak’s Rodnan The Goddess Athene, an
honest bitch I have judged before, she is made in a different mould that does
not have the elegance of lines of 1.
