MINIATURE LONG HAIRED
I thoroughly enjoyed my day and numerically it was a very good entry, but
quality did vary. In some classes I was spoilt for choice and there were good
dogs that went cardless and in other classes I found a real problem. The last
five years have been difficult for min. long breeders as they have been
bedevilled by the Cord 1 PRA eye problem, which they are overcoming and should
be congratulated upon. I do feel that some breeders must now think about their
future breeding programmes with regard to getting the correct position and
placement of shoulders, a most important piece of construction in the Dachshund
to be able to be “fit for function”. This does not apply just to the min. long
variety. From a distance some dogs looked good but on examination the over
profuse coats covered a lack of forechest and correct hind angulation which
showed in their movement. Saying that, I was delighted with my principal winners
and they were all well covered and presented (a few dirty teeth) and within the
desired weight limit (just one youngster at 12 lbs.) and with the required
correct ground clearance to allow free movement. I feel that some dogs were not
putting everything into their showing on the day due to the high temperature.
MPD (5) 1 Robinson’s Dinkidudlor Golden Kurie. 7 month well balanced
red with pleasing head and dark eye, enough forechest, good front and rear
angulation, movement a little erratic but moved out keeping his topline. Time on
his side to strengthen in movement. 2 Pitfield’s Follyfield Firecracker. 9 month
b/cr young man also with a lot going for him. Would benefit from a tidier coat
on his back as it gave the illusion of an uneven topline. Good body proportions
and angulation. Preferred the hind movement of the winner as Firecracker was
moving a little close behind. 3 Brook’s Lyndarlea Raferty.
PD (5) 1 Gallagher’s Galrhia Icing On The Cake. 10 month mature
well marked choc. dapple in gleaming condition and well schooled, who showed his
heart out for his owner today. I feel he has the same arrogance and presence as
his sire Ch.Rafthouse Herr Flick. Elegant, masculine head, good forechest and
reach of neck, well placed shoulders, correct hind angulation and a sound steady
mover keeping a good topline and general outline on the move. Considered him for
the RCC but just needs time to mature and body up. Will follow his progress with
interest. Best Puppy. 2 Holden’s Sengepabu Dark Thunder. 9 month b/t with a good
head and eye, firm topline which he held on the move . A lot to like about him.
Just preferred the winner’s shoulder placement and length of upper arm. 3
Mccarthy’s Nagshall Oklahoma Sunrise.
JD (5) 1 Renton & Brown’s Garbosa Catcha Moonbeam. Well boned
and confident young man who moved out well with his owner if a tad close in
front. Masculine head, good reach of neck, well sprung ribs and good rear
angulation but a little straight in front compared with his rear end . He tended
to fly his tail although it didn’t spoil his outline. Well schooled and in good
condition. Promising young man. 2 Chappell’s Gleneddee Mister Cool Dude. Another
well boned, sound dog with good head and dark eye and pleasing general outline
who moved out well with his owner. Close decision between the first three. Just
liked the elegance of Moonbeam on the day. Placed Cool Dude over Bubbles as I
preferred his length of upper arm and more positive rear movement. 3 Brook’s
Lyndarlea Bubbles.
YD (3) 1 Holden’s Sengepabu Saint Valentine. Shaded red who really
showed with style and verve. Good head, if a little round in eye, correct front
and shoulders and rear angulation and good body proportions. Moved out well with
his owner. 2 Cooper’s Jealroie Sir Percivale At Jumanda. A smaller cast shaded
red with pleasing head and expression, enough forechest and good overall body
shape but lost his topline on the move and I preferred Valentine’s tighter
elbows. 3 Woodage’s Totonian Toscanni.
GD (2) 1 Renton & Brown’s Garbosa Catcha Moonbeam (1 in JD). 2
Cooper’s Jealroie Sir Percival At Jumanda (2 YD). Preferred the general movement
and stronger topline of the winner.
PGD (6,1) 1 Brooks’ Lyndarlea Atlantic. A well constructed
quality b/t with strong masculine head, although a little round in eye for me.
Adequate ribbing, good forechest, well placed shoulders and correct rear
angulation which enabled him to move out freely and with drive keeping his
topline. Looked so good in profile on the move. Another dog I considered for RCC.
2 Halshall’s Kiddles Medusa. Brindle with lovely head and eye and generally good
body proportions but preferred the winners front assembly and overall free,
driving movement. 3 McCarthy’s Nagshall All Guns Blazing.
LD (7,1) A good class of quality dogs. I was splitting hairs
between the first three. 1 Robert’s Ravenways Tornero At Dandyayo. Compact b/t
in full coat (would prefer to see a closer coat) but couldn’t be denied his
placing as he had everything there in a small package. Masculine head and good
length of neck leading to good shoulders, firm and level topline held standing
and on the move, good length of ribbing and short strong loin, well angulated
quarters which he used to advantage on the move. He moved so freely and well
with his owner. Well handled. Just preferred the elegance and showmanship of
Raising Hell in the challenge. Res.CC. 2 Poole’s Findowrie City Slicker. Shaded
red, another smaller cast dog of quality in lovely condition and gleaming coat.
Liked him a lot but wasn’t co-operating fully with his handler today so didn’t
show off his attributes. When stacked on the ground he wasn’t relaxed and tended
to hunch his back. Good masculine head and correct shoulder placement and good
overall body shape which he held on the move. A sound dog but preferred the hind
quarters and length of neck of Dandydayo. 3 Young’s Willowheath Hendrix.
OD (9) Quality class. 1 Brown’s Ch/ Am Ch Rafthouse Raising Hell at
Garbosa (re-Imp) An elegant well boned masculine choc/tan dog that took my eye
as soon as he entered the ring. Another dog that seems to have acquired the ring
presence of the Rafthouse breeding with the arrogant head carriage. He was
presented in gleaming coat and showed all the time for his handler without
putting a foot wrong. Well handled. Lovely masculine head with correct eye, good
forechest and reach of neck flowing down into correctly placed shoulders and
correct length of upper arm. Well covered body with good ribbing making a
pleasing outline standing and on the move. Lovely rear angulation, good bend of
stifle and really drove round the ring. He had the ground clearance to allow
free movement which looked sound from all directions. DCC & BOB. In the Hound
Group in the larger ring he really looked a picture and covered the ground
effortlessly. 2 Wood’s Wildstar Wrenowned. Another quality dog who is so well
presented and sympathetically handled as they all are from this kennel. He is
the sire of Silver Moonlight the Best Puppy Bitch. An elegant b/t with a good
head and pro-sternum and all round a well boned and soundly made dog with
correct shoulder placement and good rear angulation when standing. Moved well
with his handler keeping a firm topline but preferred the winner’s hindquarters
and hind movement. He didn’t have the hind thrust of Raising Hell. 3 Brooks’
Layways Piper For Lyndarlea.
MPB (10,7) 3 promising puppies in different stages of
development. 1 Cooper’s Jumanda’s Silver Moonlight. A mature, well marked 6
month silver dapple sired by Wildstar Wrenowned (2 OD) Good head with dark eye,
well constructed fore and aft with pleasing and well boned overall body shape
and tight elbows. Doesn’t need to grow on. Moved out soundly with her owner.
Well handled and schooled. Best Puppy Bitch. 2 Welton’s Chelane CrE8me Brulee.
Just 6 months and a real baby enjoying her day out. A pleasing head with dark
eye and her overall construction was good but still a little loose and
uncoordinated especially on the move. I shall look forward to seeing her in a
few months time when she has developed and got her act together. I placed her
over Tabitha as I preferred her general conformation on the day. Both CrE8me
Brulee and Tabitha were very much babies which is only to be expected. 3 Rees’
Yumares Tabitha.
PB (10,2) 1 Cooper’s Jumanda’s Silver Moonlight. Winner of MPB. 2
Murphy’s Classidax Follow The Dream. A lot to like about this smaller cast 11
month b/t. Appealing head, well developed forechest and good topline and
underline with general good body proportions. Just preferred the winner’s hind
angulation and movement on the day. Very promising. Close decision between 2 and
3. 3 Graham’s Jadag Zina Zurner.
JB (10,1) 1 Cawley & King’s Brynalyn Miss Icon. Attractive b/t with
lovely overall outline standing and on the move. Good head, forechest and
shoulders with correct bend of stifle and hind angulation. She has a lot going
for her. Well balanced all through and moved out soundly with her owner. 2
Young’s Willowheath Marillion. A smaller cast red who also had a well covered
and good overall body construction and correctly placed shoulders. Moved out
well keeping a strong topline. I just preferred the winnerhind angulation and
rear movement. Close decision. I placed her over Puppet on a String who tended
to fly her tail and lose her topline on the move. 3 McCarthy’s Nagshall Puppet
On A String.
YB (4) 1 Geeson’s Abydachs Angelica. Really lovely b/cr that
caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring. Just my type - a bitch that I
feel can do a day’s work but with a touch of feminine elegance and also has the
bloom of youth on her side. She didn’t disappoint on the table, lovely to go
over – all of a piece. Quality bitch. Attractive head with dark eye, good
forechest and reach of neck flowing down into correct shoulders, firm level
topline which she kept on the move. Would have liked tighter feet but had well
constructed hindquarters with good bend of stifle which she used to advantage
when moving effortlessly round the ring. Well handled. BCC. Placed the dog over
her in the challenge for BOB as she was beginning to feel the heat, whereas the
dog showed to the bitter end and still seemed full of himself. 2 Cooper’s
Jumanda’s Holly Berry. Another quality well presented b/t bitch in lovely coat
but just not quite the elegance of Angelica, nevertheless she had a feminine
head, good feet, bone and length of neck and body proportions. Moved out well
with her handler showing her good hind angulation. Well presented. 3 Murphy’s
Classidax Penny Black.
GB (3,1) 1 Cooper’s Jumanda’s Holly Berry. 2 in YB. 2 Burr & Abbott’s
Burrdach Any Dream. Finer boned shaded red who had a feminine head and good
forechest but was short in upper arm and wasn’t so well balanced in the body as
Holly Berry. Moved OK.
PGB (6) I felt this class was beginning to flag and not giving there
all due to the heat. 1 Halsall’s Kiddles Painted Bronze. Although lacking in
coat so her body outline was there for all to see I feel that she fully deserved
her placing. A good, well covered and balanced red with feminine head and lovely
overall outline and moved round the ring smoothly and well. 2 Crawley’s Doujac
Starlette. B/cr who I felt was not putting her all in today as also Star Struck
wasn’t. Close decision between these two bitches of different type. Starlette
had an overall good outline and topline which she kept when moving. Star Struck
lost her topline on the move. 3 Norris’ Xemxija Star Struck At Criscan.
LB (10,1) Strong class – I was splitting hairs between the first four
bitches. 1 Brook’s Lyndarlea Muffin. Considered her closely in the challenge –
her time will come. A well handled and presented quality b/cr bitch in good coat
with attractive feminine head, good reach of neck, shoulders, forechest and
length of ribbing. Well bodied and good angulation fore and aft. She moved
freely and with drive holding her topline at all times. 2 Young’s Willowheath
Frosting Angel. A quality silver dapple – also well handled and presented.
Similar remarks apply as to Muffin. A very close decision but Muffin held a
firmer topline on the move which was the decider. 3 Graham’s Hillstar Lexina Of
Jadag.
OB (11,2) Best class of the day – quality right down the line –
spoilt for choice. 1 Thomas’ Shenaligh Sweet Surprise. Lovely unexaggerated well
balanced and muscled b/t, you can feel that she is road walked – a credit to her
owner. Well handled and presented. RBCC – such a close decision for the ticket.
Angelica pulled out all the stops in the challenge and I think Sweet Surprise
felt the high temperature more. A quality exhibit. I heard afterwards that she
had been made up the week before. 2 Norton’s Halunke Casalina. Another quality
b/cr bitch who was so well presented and handled. Just preferred the feet and
muscle tone of the winner. Similar remarks apply to both. Attractive head, good
length of neck, prominent forechest, correct layback and position of shoulder,
excellent topline, well bent stifles and correct hind angulation. They both
moved out freely, correctly and with verve maintaining a good topline at all
times. 3 Welton’s Chelane Pure Magic.
