DACHSHUND - MINIATURE LONG HAIRED

My first time judging Miniature Long Haired Dachshunds and I thoroughly enjoyed my day; thank you to all those who entered. Some really good puppies coming through and was pleased with both of my line ups. However, I was disappointed that quite a few  dogs were over the weight limit and not by a narrow margin. Judges should not be encouraging exhibitors to show dogs that are clearly too big by awarding them top honours; surely this is not what the breeders are striving for and what we want representing our breed? The standard requests the weight to ideally be 10 lbs but no more than 11 lbs so finding dogs nearer to 12 lbs having CCs is, to me, a discredit to the breed. On the whole though, I really liked my top winners and found there to be a number of dogs in the line up worthy of a CC.

MPD (5,1) 1 Johnson's Charpurdy's Gold McNugget. Nice neat balanced black & tan. Good head and neck, good shoulder placement, good length of ribbing, good rear angulation. Needs to mature and settle in topline. 2 Green's Neertanauf Frank Bruno. Nice 6 month old red. Very immature. Good head and neck, neat shoulder placement. Would prefer longer upper arm and a shorter hock to balance rear. 3 Green's Neertanauf Callum The One.

PD (5) 1 Lockett-Walters' Ralines Here Comes The Sun. Lovely neat red boy with a heavy coat. Good neck and shoulder placement, decent length of upper arm, kept a beautiful outline at all times. Well made hindquarters which he used well on the move. RCC. 2 Cooper's Jumanda's Antonio. Of smaller type to 1. Nice head, nice lay of shoulder, shorter in upper arm to my winner, good firm topline and rear angulation. Preferred the head of 1. Moved well in side gait. 3 Le Page's Rafthouse Iceman Amongst Thelepees.

JD (5) 1 Dickenson's Dinkidax Broxa Boy At Ribblesmare. Nice neat black and tan boy. Well balanced. Correct movement fore and aft. Good shoulders and quarters. Kept a nice outline at all times. 2 Poole's Findowrie Mr Mc Duff. Balanced dog. Little narrow in front on the move. Good rear angulation. Tended to rise to his rear on the move. Should settle with maturity. 3 Holmes' Tammera Touch of Class.

YD (2) 1 Friend's Willowheath Festival Guy. Good front, nice reach of neck. Little short in upper arm creating rather prominent elbows. Good length and depth of ribbing. Neat quarters with a well turned stifle. Moved well. 2 McCarthy's Nagshall Oklahoma Sunrise JW. Neat balanced dog. Kept a good firm topline on the move. Would prefer more upper arm.

PGD (4) 1 Brooks' Lyndarlea Raferty JW Lovely 19 month old cream dog. Good head and reach of neck. Correct lay of shoulder with good length of upper arm. Good ribbing with firm topline at all times. Good well muscled quarters. Moved with good reach and drive. CC. 2 McCarthy's Oklahoma Sunrise JW. 3 Cooper's Jealroie Sir Percival A Jumanda.

LD (6) 1 Roberts' Ravenways Tornero At Dandydayo. Black and tan of larger size. Good front, nice neat shoulders, good firm topline, correct quarters with good turn of stifle. Moved well with reach and drive. Head not his fortune. 2 Holen's Sengepabu Saint Valentine. Lovely red dog. Much preferred head to 1. Good reach of neck and lay of shoulder. Well balanced with hindquarters. Good firm topline. Moved with reach and drive. Just a little to heavy on the day. 3 Lockett-Walters Ralines Red Kuri.

OD (7) 1 Wood's Ch Wildstar Wrenowned JW Lovely size and outline. Neat head neck and shoulders. Good amount of prosternum. Correct ribbing and well carried topline. Good hindquarters. Moved well. 2 Poole's Findowrie Skye Lord. Nice red of good size with good head and neck. A little narrower than I'd like in front. Good firm topline. Well made hindquarters. Lovely profile on the move. 3 MacClancy's Metadale Dangerous Liaison.

Good Citizen Dog (1) 1 Broad's Jenwood Ring Of Bells. Neat male of 9 years. Lovely head, well made front. Moved with pizzazz and in good condition.

MPB (6,1) 1 Poole's Findowrie Ring N Roses. Smaller neat red bitch. Nice head, good reach of neck and neat shoulder placement. Good firm topline. Good rear angulation. Moved with correct extension. Lovely in profile. 2 Lockett-Walters' Minard Eye Kandi For Ralines. 9 month old cream of larger size. Lovely head and neck. Good shoulder placement. Well made hindquarters which she used well. Would prefer more weight on her to correct her topline. 3 Green's Neertanauf Lucia Rijker.

PB (3) 1 McCarthy's Nagshall Wings Of Love. Nice neat bitch. Good head and eye. Nice fore and hindquarters. Well balanced. Would prefer more depth of ribbing and prosternum. 2 Leach's Miriadachs Maggie Mae. Nice red girl. Good head and neck. Well placed shoulders. Would prefer more angulation in the hindquarters. Tended to rise to the rear on the move. 3 Brace's Xemxijia Star Light.

JB (6,1) 1 Blackshaw's Ravenways Essence Of Peach. Beautiful 12 month old bitch. Lovely head and eye. Good reach of neck with beautiful lay of shoulder. Good length and depth of ribbing. Good well angulated hindquarters. Moved well with correct reach and drive keeping a good profile at all times. CC & BOB. 2 McCarthy's Nagshall Wings of Love. 3 Norton & MacClancy's Halunke Dream Maker.

Moved soundly. 2 Murphys Classidax Follow The Dream. Neat Bitch. Lovely head and neck. Would prefer more length in upper arm. Lost her outline on the move. 3 Cooper's Jumanda's Silver Moonlight.

Nice black and tan of good size. Good head neck and shoulders. Good depth of front. Moved with reach and drive but would prefer angulation in the rear. 3 Young's Willowheath Frosting Angel.

OB (7,3) 1 Graham's Hillstar Lexzina Of Jadag. Nice black and tan bitch. Lovely head and neck. Good lay of shoulder. Firm topline. Well angulated hindquarters. Beautiful coat and condition. Moved well RCC. 2 Norris' Xemxija Star Struck At Criscan. Nice red bitch. Good head neck and shoulders. Good firm topline. Lovely rear angulation which she used well on the move. Lacked in coat for open class but well constructed. 3 Leach's Willowheath Lad Sophia At Miriadachs.
