I would like to thank the Committee for inviting me to judge my favourite variety of Dachshunds. I had a very efficient steward, Eddie Webster, it makes life so much easier! It has been several years since I last judged my own breed, having given the last, ever, set of CCs  for Min.Longs at Three Counties Show.  Thank you to the exhibitors for my entry, there was a pleasant atmosphere around the ringside, and even a little clapping! The rings were large, but some dogs were put off by the volume of noise at times. Contrary to what I had been led to believe, I found that the majority are well constructed and definitely "fit for purpose", I found no mouth faults and no kinky tails at this show, and only 2 exhibits nervous. V (2) 1 Johnson's Ch. Charpurdy Just Iss, now 8yrs old.  Pretty head, full dentition, correct shoulder placement, tight elbows, good length of ribbing, well angulated behind. Moved out well. 2 Jamieson's Ch. Djeata Spring Blossom, red girl, 10yrs old, pretty head, correct shoulder placement. MPD (2,1) 1 Brooks' Lyndarlea Red Poker, red boy 7months, very well constructed, lovely head and eye. Good angulation both ends, shows promise. PD (3) 1 Rowell's Emmajesk Hotshot, 9 months red boy, liked his head, lovely shoulder placement and well angulated behind, good length of ribbing. Moved with drive. BPD. 2 Woodall's' Lyndarlea King Arthur, lovely outline stacked and maintained on the move. Unlucky to meet 1. 3 Shutt's Dragonsteeth Cream Cracker at Donnadoon. JD (2) 1 Lockett- Walters and Walters' Ralines Bright Future, 16 month old black and cream dog. What a star!! He is so well constructed, masculine head, good reach of neck, correct shoulders, good prosternum, good length of ribbing, well angulated behind, lovely feet. He flowed round the ring, covering the ground with ease. So pleased to award him the CC and later BOB, then to see him win Best in Show. (John and I don't always agree, so this was brilliant!) Witheld. PGD (3,1a) 1 Brooks' Obdax Lynn's Badger, Silver Dapple boy, good head and eye, excellent shoulders, tight elbows, good length of rib, moved out well. 2 Mortlock's Metadale Leandros at Hertsmerry, red boy, much lighter in bone than the winner.  Preferred head and eye shape of 1. LD (5,1a) 1 Woodall's Half Century at Rarewood, Silver Dapple boy I have admired from the ringside, and he didn't disappoint. Lovely head and eye, good length of neck, excellent ribbing, tight feet, moved out well. I seriously considered him for top honours, but "Bright Future" just had the edge today. Res CC. 2 Brooks' Lyndarlea Kenny, Black and tan, excellent head, lovely ear length, good ribbing, good drive behind. 3 Walters' Metadale Masterchef. OD (1) 1 Bell's Ch. Tolberg Cream Dream ShCM, shaded cream dog, nothing to dislike, well angulated both ends, good length of ribbing, strode out well.  MPB (6,2) 1 Cooper's Jumanda's Silver Lace, what a beautiful puppy! Well marked silver dapple, lovely houndy head, good length of ribbing, prominent prosternum, excellent shoulder placement, tight elbows, well angulated behind. Only just 6 months, so was tired by the time the bitch challenge took place. She's going to trouble the best soon. 2 Johnson's Charpurdy's Gold McEve, red, smaller all through than the winner. Pretty head, good front assembly, well angulated. Smart girl. 3 Bell's Tolberg Tilly's Just The One. PB (6,1) 1 Oxley's Dinkidax Cyenna Satin, 10 month old shaded red girl, my notes say "all of a piece", very confident, good shoulder placement, good length of ribbing, nicely angulated behind. Moved out positively and truly. BP and later Reserve Best Puppy in Show. Definitely one to watch. 2 Bell's Tolberg Tilly's Mirror Image, black and cream, litter sister to 3rd in Minor Puppy, small and neat, moved well to be placed in this Puppy Class. 2 Cooper's Sadie Lady at Jumanda. JB (5) 1 Bell's Tolberg Legally Blonde, shaded cream, just out of Puppy, sweet head, correct eye, Lovely angulation both ends, strode out well, covering the ground with ease, while maintaining topline. I gave her Best Puppy in Show at the Miniature Club a few months ago, and she didn't disappoint me today. Res CC. 2 Lockett-Walters and Walters' Ralines The Last Word,  15 months old black and cream, very elegant head, good angulation both ends, lovely length of ribbing. This kennel always sets the standard in presentation and handling. I liked her very much. 3 Way's Hillstar Saffron with Sudasam. PGB (6) 1 Bell's Tolberg Legally Blonde. 2 Woodvine-Shone's Hanishan Dutch Romance, mahogany red, 22 months, so elegant. Lovely head and eye, reachy neck, lovely length of ribbing, well angulated, moved out well, true fore and aft. Interesting to actually feel the difference with the introduction of the Dutch line, the prosternum is higher, so the keel is longer giving good length of rib. The effect stamps in the elegance and good conformation. She looks taller, but it gives a clean outline. 3 Brook's Willott Astra at Pauntley. LB (3,1) 1 Woodvine-Shone's Hanishan Little Red Madam, 4yr old mahogany red, lovely shoulder placement, tight elbows, moved out well, true fore and aft, lovely outline standing and moving. 2 Cooper's Jumanda's Silver Slipper, 2 yr old silver dapple, loved her head, good length of ribbing, very little to split these two. OB (4) 1 Johnson's Charpurdy Just Willow, 3 yr old black and tan girl. Couldn't fault her! Everything in the right place, correct head and eye, excellent shoulder placement, tight elbows, good length of ribbing, so sound. Moved true fore and aft. Her handler must practice for hours! She deserved her CC, well done! 2 Brooks' Hanishan Eezzy Magic Nite at Lyndarlea, red, 4 yrs old, good angulation, tight elbows, nice head. Moved out well. Today Willow had the panache. 3 Jamieson's Djeata Sansa Suix.
