Thank you to the Southern Dachshund Association for their invitation. I was very pleased with my main winners. Some of the heavier coated exhibits need a good comb through with tangled coat, particularly round the neck & legs. Some short ribcages & a few were lacking in confidence on the move, but with the absence of matting, it was rather slippery so I took this into account. The coat should be soft but apart from feathering should lay flat so as not to obscure the outline.
V (3,2a) 1 Earley’s Rafthouse The Diva of Yelva, choc dapple, bitch with a lovely head & eye. Good front & keel, turned a foot a bit when stood, well ribbed & strong backend. Could have done with better presentation, feathering was tangled particularly round neck. Moved well, topline OK could be a bit firmer. MPD (1) 1 Brown’s Boris Bear at Garbosa, 7 month b/t baby, super head & eye. Loved his outline & attitude as he entered the ring, good strong neck. Plenty of keel, tight feet. Tight in elbow already. Well ribbed. Strong hindquarters. Puppy coat a little blowy on his back so at first looked a little hunched on the move, but when settled he had a good level topline. RCC, must have a bright future. BP. PD (2) 1 McCarthy’s Nagshall Justintime, shaded cream youngster with a good head, eye & pigment, good feet & enough keel. Would prefer longer ribcage. Moved OK on a slippery floor; 2 Norton’s Halunke Pure Magic, nice shaded red baby with a pleasing head, eye & neck, liked his outline. Feet could be tighter. JD (2) 1 McCarthy’s Nagshall Digby Mac, an attractive shaded cream dog of 16 months. Shoulders & front good. Ribbing could go further back. Well presented, but moved rather close behind; 2 Bedford’s Devoncream Midnight Mirage at Dinkidudlor, cr/br, nice outline, ribs could go further back. Not the drive on the move of 1. PGD (3) 1 Brooks’ Obdax Lynn’s Badger at Lynderlea, silver dapple/t dog, rather square in outline. Best front & shoulders here, & ribs went well back. Moved close behind; 2 Green’s Neertanauf Jack Jones, shaded red. Pleasing head & eye. Good outline but not the front or drive on the move of 1; 3 N Digby Mac. LD (9,1) 1 Mitchell & Antonopoulos’ Ygeia Numero Uno, aptly named, my winner here won this class with ease. Young red dog with superb construction. Lovely head & neck. Good eye shape. Well ribbed. Correct front & keel. Good tight feet. Strong well angulated hindquarters which he used on the move & not being heavy coated one could see his quality & drive. Completely sound coming & going & powered round the ring, deserving his CC, his second I understand; 2 Bedford’s Rossdach Cream Of The Crop, a shaded cream, nicely constructed. Good head & neck. Moved well. Feet could be tighter; 3 McCarthy’s Nagshall Just Santana. OD (2) 1 Broad’s Neertanauf Sea Magic, shaded red, nice head & eye. Good neck & front. Tight feet, spring of rib lacking. Moved out well; 2 Earley’s Mr Brandy Man, shaded red, 3 year old, not quite the length of neck as my winner & closer behind. Could be better presented.
MPB (2) 1 Worswick’s Dolyharp Bizet’s Carmen, b/t, very sweet baby. Good head shape & neck. Rather round eye. Correct shoulders. Turned her feet slightly on the move but they were tight. Well ribbed, good backend. Confident on the move; 2 Cooper’s Sadie Lady at Jumanda, cream youngster. Very sweet but lacking in substance, good head & neck. Well ribbed & strong backend. Two nice babies. PB (4,1) 1 McCarthy’s Nagshall Puttinontheritz, cream baby with a pretty head & good pigment. Correct front & shoulders. Nice tight feet. Not the bravest on the slippery floor to start with but when settled moved really well. Elegant youngster. BPB; 2 D Bizet’s Carmen. JB (4,2) 1 Brooks’ Lynarlea Chitty Bang Bang, b/cr, sweet headed bitch with good neck & shoulders. Plenty of keel. Good tight feet. Well ribbed with smart outline, moved & stood a tad close behind; 2 McCarthy’s Nagshall Justfizzical, shaded cream bitch of good shape, not the substance of my winner & turned her feet when stood. Not very confident & moved erratically. PGB (6,1) 1 Cooper’s Jumanda’s Silver Slipper, silver dapple/t, good head & eye. Strong neck & correct shoulders with sufficient keel & ribbing. Moved very well; 2 Green’s Neertanauf Lucia Rijker, 5 year old b/t, sweet head & good eye. Correct shoulders & good tight feet. Not the topline of the winner. Not as positive on the move as the winner but she had correct ribbing & moved well behind. LB (6,2) 1 McCarthy’s Nagshalllove Actually, cream with a good head pigment & nice dark eye. Very elegant outline. Sufficient keel. Shoulders good with tight feet. Well ribbed. Good backend which she used on the move. Contender for RCC; 2 Brook’s Willott Astra at Auntley, silver dapple/t with a good head & eye. Strong ribbing & correct shoulders. Tight feet. Moved OK in front but not the drive behind of my winner, not as strong in hindquarters; 3 Phillips’ Rossdach Madame Butterfly. OB (8,1) 1 Edwards’ Barok Blondeliah, 7 year old, very elegant shaded cream with a lovely head & eye, sweet expression. Good neck & shoulders, tight feet. Good keel & ribbing. Strong hindquarters which she used on the move. Retained her outline throughout. CC, her 4th I understand, & BOB; 2 Brooks’ Hanisham Eezy Magic Nite at Lyndarlea, shaded red. Another lovely bitch with sweet head & expression. Good eye. Strong neck into well laid shoulders. Well ribbed with a good outline. A little closer behind than the winner. RCC; 3 Dutson’s Rossglen Rosa Mundi.
