My thanks to the Dachshund Club for their invitation to judge, to the exhibitors for their excellent entry and also to my two very competent stewards.
I looked for a hound, with some elegance, but not short on bone and substance. Narrow fronts, short ribbing and bad feet are an issue. Muscle tone was lacking in some exhibits. Presentation was mainly very good but
I was amazed to find some coats were not very clean, even smelly. I had to clean my hands several times.
I thought overall the quality of the bitches was better than that of the dogs.
I was, however, very pleased with those I placed.
