Overall the quality was rather mixed, the winners good the principle winners very good. The same old issues short upper arms & necks, short keels & ribbing, shoulders too far forward & if people didnt already know I put a lot of store on feet! Remember dachshunds are a digging hound so untrimmed or splayed feet & long or hacked nails will not do. On the plus side there are some promising youngsters especially in the bitches which makes for keen competion which can only be good for the breed, all having merits to appeal to a variety of different judges. It is apparent that the imports & their descendents are proving a great asset to breeders.

1st METCALFES METADALE ARIADNE – Attractive Red bitch of excellent size & proportions, a balanced bitch of very good ratios, again everything enhanced by her dark pigment , nose, eye rims mouth nails & pads. The young bitch was a bit unsettled by the switching of handlers but when she settled she was a picture from all angles, moved with drive & ease. RCC
