My long awaited Covid judging assignment arrived, I was very excited as it has been a quite a few years since I last had the honour of judging my Breed in UK. Thanks to Dachshund Club for my 2nd assignment at this prestigious event and to the exhibitors for the privilege of going over a lovely entry! There were some close decisions on the day and it pleased me to find out that many of the principle winners were related in some way or another. As always judging is objective, as is breeding and one judge/breeder places greater emphasis on certain parts of the breed standard to another, hence the reason why dogs can on occasion or quite often can change places on the day. It was a little concerning that several exhibits weighed in on the day however lacked body condition on table examination. Surprised to see there was only one silver dapple and one chocolate in the entrants! Another issue was the number of exhibits moving under themselves ie on their hocks ( tummy tapping).

1 Broad’s - CH Neertanauf Sea Magic JW, really fell for this almost 13 year old, right up my alley for type, long conical hound like head with slight Roman nose, ample reach of neck into super front assembly, correct sternum, lovely bone and still beautiful well knuckled feet. Did not zoom around ring a full speed , however as sound as bell, coat presentation could be better. Wish I had a bitch to breed to this boy, delighted to award him RCC in this strong entry. Understand from owner I had awarded him a RCC from junior many years back.
2 Woods - Ch Wildstar Wrobinson JW, please to have had opportunity to judge this famous high quality fellow, as always presented to perfection by this exhibitor.
