I would like to thank the Officers and Committee of the Long Haired Dachshund Club for my appointment to judge and to the exhibitors for their entries. Also, thank you to my stewards for the day, Lesley Elliot and Judith Haynes.
In general I found the exhibits to be of varying size, type and conformation.
Temperaments were generally good but just a small number were very uncooperative with their handler on the table, which was disappointing.
I was, however, pleased with my main winners. All had quality and substance, were beautifully presented and in tune with their handlers. I was also impressed by the quality of some of the youngsters who hopefully will benefit the future of this much loved variety.
Veteran Dog 1 (1)
1. Maclaine’s PENNYGOWN PILOT
A quality 11 year old red presented in excellent condition. Soundly made throughout. In super coat. Moved freely at all times. A credit to his owner. BVD
Baby Puppy Dog (2)
1. Drady’s INDIKO FIRE AND ICE
4.5 months. A delightful cream baby, full of confidence for one so young. Good hind action and level topline on the move. Pleasing head with dark eye. Front developing nicely. BBP
2. Cox’s CHERITONDAX MALBEC
4.5 month Sh/red of finer build to 1st. Very much a raw baby as yet but has plenty of time in front of him to mature.
Minor Puppy Dog (3)
1. Brown’s DOLYHARP ROSSINI AT GARBOSA
This 6 month old cream showed quality thoughout. Nicely proportioned with good bone. Forechest developing well. Good extension on the move keeping a level topline. Handled and shown to perfection. BPD
2. Hayward & Barnsdale’s CHRISKIM’S GOLD FEVER
8 month cream. I liked this young dog but he was not as developed in forechest as 1st. However, he was a sound exhibit with a pleasing outline and moved out well.
3. Fairchild’s RESTINIM MR PIP
Puppy Dog (6, 2Abs)
1. May’s SCRUMPTIOUS RED ON THE DOT
Lots to like about this 9 month stylish puppy. Balanced in outline. Good head and eye. Sufficient ribbing. Nicely angulated front and rear.

3. Bater’s ALL FOR SHOW
4. Elliott’s MILENDO CREAM TOUCH
Junior Dog (3, 1 Abs)
1. Dalton & Beach’s ZARCREST RED IN THE ROOM JW

2. Elliott’s MILENDO CREAM TOUCH
9 month cream. Very much a baby needing more time to develop further. However he has a nice profile and moved out well.
