I would like to extend a huge thank you to The Midland Dachshund Club for inviting me to judge at their CH Show. I would also like to thank all the exhibitors for their entry. I had a wonderful day and there were many quality dogs to go over. In addition, I would like to extend a huge thank you to my very efficient stewards who made my job so much easier.
A couple of observations; it was concerning to see so many with nervous temperaments, especially bitches. I also noticed quite a few with incorrect hind angulation, with a lot of reach but not much drive due to length of rear pastern. Saying that, I would like to praise the breeders who showed hounds with correct front angulation, giving extension and good reach and drive at the back.

1st Indiko Fire and Ice (Mrs K M Drady) Lovely cream dog, good head, good front assembly including forechest. Bit wide coming. Good hind angulation moves well, with good hind extension. Good turn of stifle holds a very good top line on the move. Correct tail set
2nd Cheriton Dax Malbec (Mrs P Cox) Balanced shaded red dog. Good head, eye, ear set. Good front assembly. Good length of keel and length of ribbing, hind angulation, tail set, moves with reach and drive. Not as settled as 1st.
Puppy Dog: (4,0)
1st Nagshall Paolo Prince (Mrs C McCarthy) Attractive black and tan boy, correct head, good front, good ear set, good shoulders, good length ribbing, keel, turn of stifle, hind angulation. Holds a good topline on the move.
2nd Restinim Mr Pip (Rev A Fairchild) Another attractive black and tan dog, very similar to first, just needs more drive on the move. Good body length, coat, handled very well. Gentlest expression
Junior Dog: (4,0)
1st Zilcan Vanilla Ice for Arlatdax JW (Misses C & C Morrin & Barbi) Shaded cream dog of very good proportions and size. Good head, ear set, length of neck, front assembly, length of ribbing, short loin, good hind angulation, moves well.
2nd Scrumptious Red on the Dot JW (Mrs C May) Shaded red dog, of very good proportions, Prominent forechest, good houndy head, eyes and length of neck, shoulder, moves and handled well. I can see these two swapping places easily on another day.
Post Graduate Dog: (5,1)
1st Rivandell Sirius Black (Mr L Thomson) Beautiful shaded cream dog. Good head, head, ear set, good return of upper arm. Length of ribbing, keel, short loin, good hind angulation. Moves with reach and drive.
2nd Revdvicki’s Theodore by Urishay (Mr P & Mrs A Latham-Jackson) Black and tan dog, correct size, more compact than 1st. Holds a good topline, hind angulation, just needs to settle a bit and settle, moves beautifully

1st Dolyharp Amadeus at Sidburyhill (Mr A & Mrs K Stevens) Black and tan dog very much of a showman, good front assembly good head, eyes, ear set, good length of ribbing and keel, return of upper arm, good turn of stifle. Good ground clearance and held a very good top line on the move
2nd Nagshall Dyce the Ice JW (Mrs C McCarthy) Cream dog, with gentle expression, would prefer bit more reach of neck, good front, angulation length of ribbing, hind angulation.
Open Dog: (11,2)
1st CH Bronia Maveric (Miss E Mitchell) Stunning cream dog of correct size. I judged him when he was only a pup and he has matured to a stunning boy, with quality conformation. Good reach of neck, lovely hound head with excellent pigmentation. Beautiful outline both on stance and move. Moves true to and fro. Excellent bone and substance. Good reach and drive from those strong hind quarters. DCC & BOB. Delighted to see him go BIS.
2nd CH Wildstar Washington (Mr R Wood) Impressive shaded red dog, Well defined outline. Correct proportions and a true show man. Good houndy head, eye set and reach of neck. Correct front assembly, good length of ribbing. Short loin, good hind angulation. Moved parallel. RDCC.
Veteran Bitch: (2,0)
1st CH Tolberg Beez Kneez at Teckletown (Miss D Mason) Shaded red bitch in lovely condition, attractive overall shape. Good front, head, eyes, ear set, good return of upper arm, short loin, good hind angulation, moves very well. BVIB
2nd Jaxrubydax Creamy Dream (Mrs J Pretty) Cream bitch with feminine head, lovely expression, good shoulders and hind angulation.
Minor Puppy Bitch (11,2)
1st Ralines Roses are Red (Mrs R Lockett-Walters) Beautiful red bitch with correct proportions, and very balanced. Feminine head and gentle expression, good reach of neck. Excellent front angulation giving her good extension. Good bone and substance. Excellent hind angulation and she moved with good reach and drive from behind. Held a super topline. BCC & BOS & BPIB. Delighted to see her go BPIS.
2nd Indiko Cast in Cream at Tolberg (Mrs L Bell) An attractive cream bitch of correct proportions. Good forechest. Good bone and substance. Moved parallel coming and going but did not have the hind angulation of 1st. Good topline on the move.

1st Indiko A Touch of Cream at Tolberg (Mrs L Bell) Black and cream bitch, balanced and of good proportions and size. Pretty feminine head, dark eyes and correct ear set. Good reach of neck. Good front assembly, forechest. Good length of ribbing. Good topline
2nd Ralines Strike a Pose Dandydayo (Mr A Whitfield-Roberts) Red bitch of good proportions and correct size. Gentle expression, good reach of neck flowing to good shoulders. Good forechest. Needs to mature but moved well. Good hind angulation and topline
Junior Bitch: (12,0)
1st Ralines Just Jasmine (Mrs R Lockett-Walters) Lovely cream bitch of good size and proportions. Feminine head, with dark eyes. Good reach of neck and well laid shoulders which reflects on her forechest. Good length of ribbing and keel, flowing underline. Well angulated back end, short rear pasterns. Moved parallel coming and going holding a solid top line throughout.
2nd Larkhund Celtic Rose Darsoms (Mrs C Dare) Lovely black and tan bitch, well balanced and of correct proportions. Feminine head, correct dentition, eyes and ear set. Lovely reach of neck flowing to well-placed shoulders. Good length of ribbing. Would prefer more reach and drive on the move from hind quarters.
Post Graduate Bitch: (13,2)
1st Urishay Nell Gwyn (Mr P & Mrs A Latham-Jackson) Black and tan bitch of excellent proportions, good head, eyes, ear set, would prefer a bit more reach of neck, good length of upper arm, good ribbing, short loin, hind angulation, moves well.
2nd Crownlakes Million Dreams (Miss D Mason) Shaded red bitch good head, eyes, ear set, good length of neck, well placed shoulders, good length of ribbing keel, turn of stifle, close call but I preferred movement of 1st.

1st Magnolia Foxtail by Sanmik TAF (Mrs P Cox) Very nice, shaded cream bitch, good front, head, lovely dark pigmentation, good shoulders/ front assembly. Lovely length ribbing and keel, good hind angulation. Held a solid top line on the move.
2nd Nagshall The Odd Excuse JW (Mrs C McCarthy) Lovely cream bitch with beautiful expression, Lovely dark pigmentation. Would prefer more reach of neck. Good overall body shape and outline. Good length of ribbing. Moved with confidence.
Open Bitch: (12,2)
1st CH Darsoms Zynala (Mrs C Dare) Beautiful black and tan bitch, of correct proportions. Houndy but feminine head, with dark eyes. Lovely reach of neck, flowing to correct shoulders. Good forechest. Good return of upper arm, good length of ribbing, short loin and hind angulation, won the class easily on movement. Good coat with just correct amount of feathering. RBCC.
2nd Wildstar Wrolanda (Mr R Wood) Another beautiful hound from this breeder. Very balanced and of correct proportions. Presented a beautiful outline. Lovely reach of neck, flowing to correct shoulders. Good length of ribbing and lovely short loin. Preferred movement of 1st on the day. Good coat with just correct amount of feathering.
