MINIATURE WIRE HAIRED
It is 4 years since I last judged the breed at this level and I must admit I was pleasantly surprised. In almost all cases the head shape was good with well shaped, obliquely placed dark eyes. Necks were long and muscled without having to be combined with the long loins. I found in the mini-longs recently. I felt the length of upper arm was mucg better and weight did not seem to be a problem as most were shown in excellent body. Only a few exhibits did not hold their topline on the move. My only concern was the unsoundness at the back end of several bitches in later classes. I hope it was the grass!
PD. (4). 1. Dunstall’s, Metcroft Dressed to Thrill. Excellent head, neck and eye. Good coat and underline. Scored on topline which he held on the move. 2. William’s, Brytonian Clydwyn. Very promising youngster. Nice compact body with plenty of width throughout. 3. Daltrey and Belcher’s, Drakesleat Ottomatic.
JD. (1). 1. Wilberg’s, Kanix Duncan. A truly exciting youngster. A very mature puppy. Pleasing head and eye. Good neck on well laid shoulders. Excellent topline and hind angulation which he held on the move. Presented and handled to perfection. CC.
PGD. (4). 1. Banks and Douglas’s, Torabbi Welsh Malt.
LD. (2). 1. Blackburn’s, Stargang Mickey Finn. A nice type. Pleasing head, neck and eye. Good angulation. Ultra sound. 2. Water’s, Stargang Bolt from the Blue. Brindle dapple. Another useful type but I would have liked a bit more coat and condition.
OD. (2). 1. Horswell and Kubota’s, Jap Ch. Drakesleat JP Baro Trier (Imp). I was surprised to discover he was an import but I can appreciate why he is here, as he has much to offer the breed. He fits my interpretation of the Dachshund standard with a good harsh wire coat and close knit feet. On the day I felt he needed a little more finish but I will certainly watch his career with interest. RCC. 2. Horswell’, Drakesleat Von Der Full. Another well proportioned and constructed masculine dog in very hard muscular condition.
PB. (6). 1. Stockdale’s, Russteck Honeysuckle at Stockcroft. Excellent profile. Sound mover. A promsing youngster. 2. Minchull’s, Bryntonian Catrin. A very promising puppy whose career I will watch with interest. Everything seemed to be in the right place but she really did enjoy herself on the grass. 3. Halsall’s, Russteck Hallrack at Shelsall.
JB. (10). 1. Whitehouse and Evill’s, Ubu Abigail. Sweet feminine bitch who scored on hind angulation and front extension. 2. Wilberg’s, Stargang Picket Line at Kanix. Excellent head and neck on well laid shoulders. Ultra sound. Handled and presented to perfection. 3. Stockdale’s, Russteck Honeysuckle ay Stockcroft.
PGB. (14). 1. Blackburn’s, Stargang Encore. Sweet feminine bitch of the smaller type. Correct in every way. Well constructed with good width throughout. Moved soundly with drive and extention. 2. Muller’s, Rabymere Last Resort. Black and tan. Excellent head, eye and neck. Well constructed. Ultra sound. 3. Hipkin’s, Bronia Party Revival at Metrella.
LB. (7). 1. Mueller’s, Drakesleat I Rest my Case Rabymere. Well constructed with good coat texture. Enviable face furnishings. Ultra sound. One of the best front movement coming towards me. 2. Barney’s, Verrami Vera Right. A very nice type in excellent coat and condition. Sound free mover. 3. Blackburn’s, Stargang Blue Freckles.
OB. (5). 1. Thorn-Andrews’, Drakesleat Guilty me Lud. Sweet feminine bitch fitting my interpretation of the breed standard. Nice broad, well muscled rump and low set hocks. Excellent hind angulation which she kept on the move. CC and BOB. 2. Wilberg’s, Ch. Kanix Audrey. A truly worthy Champion. Well proportioned and constructed. Sound free mover. Handled and presented to perfection. RCC. 3. Thorn-Andrews’, Drakesleat Black Marks.
