MINIATURE WIRE HAIRED

The day was bright but cold so I opted to be inside from the start. The ring was a good size and the benches handy. The atmosphere was really good and I thank everyone for taking the placings in a good sporting manner. Thank you to my two stewards -it was a hospitable well run show. Since I judged the wires not a lot has changed and there are still two distinct types. Oh those feet, nails were long in many cases and feet splayed. Heads, even on a wire, should have length of muzzle and look like a cone when viewed from above.

PD. (3). 1. Kugow and Holts’, Waldmeister Jackson. A nice young dog who had all the essentials, inculding good feet. He has a good wire jacket and moved out well. A promising young dog. 2. Fulton’s, Bothlyn Step in Time. A dark brindle with a good front and correct shoulders. His head is not masculine enough for me. 3. Finneys’, Gulliagh Dunk’s Donut.

JD. (1). 1. Thorn-Andrew’s, Drakesleat Sat Sumo. This young dog was what I look for. A lovely head and eye. A good neck and shoulders well set back. His feet were tight and the nails short. His back legs were well muscled and he could really move out. He was on his mettle and did everything asked of him. His true Dachshund type and excellent physical condition appealed to me greatly. CC.

PGD. (2). 1. Miller’s, Scotmariner Sea Anchor. This brindle had an excellent front. Good keel and ribs and a good head. I liked him a lot.

LD. (3). 1. Morton’s, Molloney Terra Fried at Cotherstone. A lovely dark brindle with excellent front and shoulders. Good feet and moving well. A most typy young male. 2. Rathbones’, Briarland Galahad. He had really excellent body proportions and a good wire coat, but his head was rather small for a male. 3. Dunks’, Loretto Snuff Box Sh CM.

OD. (3). 1. Blackburns’, Kanix Hugo to Stargang. This dog won on his maturity. He has good shoulders with a deep keel and ribbing carried well back. He moved out well enough but his feet are not his fortune. RCC. 2. Thorn-Andrews’, Ch. Drakesleat Otto Bahn. My headache of the day as I love this little dog that is correctly made and is a typical hound, but on the day, in typical hound fashion, he did not want to co-operate. 3. Fulton’s, Jonkaths Time Traveller to Bothlyn.

PB. (6). 1. Whitehouse’s, Rioban Lady Guinevere. 2. Shands’, Bothlyn Sweet Time. A close decision between both these two promising youngsters with correct body proportions. I preferred the head of the winner. 3. Russells’, Rusteck Minuet.

JB. (7). 1. Thorn-Andrews’, Drakesleat Nip On Tuck. A lovely brindle with a good head. Excellent shoulders and front. Well ribbed with a good outline and moving well. 2. Blackburn-Bennetts’, Shelsall Up to No Good at Shardagang. This was just a baby who excelled in body for one to young and who moved out well. BP. She gave a good account of herself in the Puppy Group and was short listed, well done. 3. Kugow and Holt’s, Waldmeisters Nutmeg.

PGB. (6). 1. Miller’s, Scotmariner Ariel. A taller elegant bitch with a good front and shoulders, who moved with ease around the ring. 2. Macdonoughs’, Varrich Strathislay. Dark brindle with a good head. Good front and correct shoulders. She played up rather but she is a good bitch if she can settle down. 3. Blackburns’, Shybu Saffire Perle at Stargang.

LB. (4). 1. Hutching’s, Molloney Zena Ghost. What a classic hound she is. Super head and eye. Long neck running into well placed shoulders and good ribbing. Lovely body length, well muscled thighs which enabled her to move out with a ground covering stride on good feet. CC and BOB. 2. Richard’s, Wentwood If Only. A nice red bitch with a good front and shoulder placement but not in contention with the winner. 3. Macdonoughs’, Beckel Flutterby Bothlyn.

OB. (4). 1. Thorn-Andrews’, Drakesleat I Rest My Case Rabymere. Super head and eye on this dark brindle. A long neck and well laid shoulders and good ribbing. A truly elegant typical hound that I have admired for ages but sadly she met a bitch in unbeatable form. She is the dam of my DCC winner so has played her part. RCC. 2. Blackburn’s, Ch. Stargang Xquisite. Well bodied with a deep keel and excellent ribbing but not the length or head properties of the winner.
