MINIATURE WIRE HAIRED
It is quite some time since I last judged this variety and my overall finding were that on the whole temperament leaves a lot to be desired. The last time I judge they were all happy waggy little chaps as they should be but temperaments of this type were very few and far between. This is definitely a major concern that needs to be addressed. There are two distinct types, one being the taller more, continental type. That although correctly made lacked the prosternum and angulation of the others and consequently although sound lacked elegance. The more typical dachshund type with the lovely sweeping front and good hind angulation on the whole were more unsound and lacked length of ribbing and were unsound in rear action because of no structural follow through. This made judging really difficult in some classes. MPD (3,1) 1 Blackburn’s Stargang Tigers Eye. A little professional that is all of a piece, nicely made moves well lovely type. 2 Marston & Teal’s Lordscairnie Love to Dance. A very nicely constructed puppy to go over but lack confidence, hope this comes with maturity. JD (4,2) 1 Young & Otter’s Tarkus Windy Miller Portalutra. Pleasing head and reach of neck good front and shoulder good topline on the move well balance quarters, moves soundly. 2 Miller’s Bothlyn Black Raven at Sharplan lovely overall picture of balance, not the length of upper arm or so sound in topline as the winner. ND (1) B Black Raven. PGD (5,1) 1 Baxter’s Kapodach Love me Tender at Hotwire. Soundly made, lovely clean outline soundest of fronts, drives out well behind keeping a strong topline. 2. Young & Otter’s Nordach Mr Muffin of Tarkus nice overall type and outline, taller on the leg than the winner and not such good coat texture. LD (3,1) 1 Hassall & McLeod’s Sidelock Formula One. Loved this chap the moment he entered the ring and did not disappoint when gone over. Masculine houndy head, good mouth, reach of neck, good front and shoulders, good length of rib strong quarters used to best advantage, sound outgoing temperament, excellent coat CC. I understand this gives him his title congratulations. 2 Miller’s Bothlyn Time Master at Sharplan, not the front or shoulder of the winner. OD (4,2) 1 Thorn Andrews’ Ch Drakesleat Win Alot. Excellent head and reach of neck good front, good length of sternum and rib soundest of toplines, moves with verve, strong well balanced hindquarters RCC just preferred the length of upper arm on the CC winner. 2. Kugow & Holt Waldermesiter Henry Lovely coat, beautifully shown and presented soundest of temperaments preferred the front assembly of the winner. PB (8,4) 1 Dunn’s Barratini Bumble at Ashridge. A really lovely baby. Exquisite head, good reach of neck lovely front and shoulders, good length of rib and strong loin super hind quarters moves well only needs confidence to complete the picture, will watch her progress she really is lovely BP. 2 Hunt’s Marvelous Mischief at Earthsea another lovely puppy of the same type but not so mature. JB (6) 1 Thorn Andrews’ Drakesleat Winsum Losesum. Lovely typical head, good reach of neck, sound front shoulder and ribbing drives out well behind on the move, excellent coat. 2 Kugow & Holt nice bitch soundly made, lovely flowing movement and excellent temperament. NB (4,1) 1 Barratini Bumble 2 Stargang Jo Lo. Good balance overall, nice head good reach of neck good length, a little short in the ribbing and moves rather wide behind. PGB (8,4) 1 Marston-Teal’s Lordscairnie Draam of Love. Pleasing head, good reach of neck, good front shoulder and length of rib sufficient angulation behind. Moves soundly RCC. 2 Blackburn-Bennett’s Sargang Diamond Star. A bitch of lovely type would prefer more bone, not in such good coat as the winner and shorter in the ribbing. LB (3) 1 Horswell’s Drakesleat Know on Yer Nelly. Very sound to go over, again lovely head sufficient neck, good front and topline excels in rear angulation and drive on the hindquarters. 2 Mcleod’s Sidelock Do I Look Bovvered, same comments on construction apply, not the strength of hind angulation as the winner. OB (3) 1 Thorn Andrews’ Drakesleat Miss Suebishy. All the exhibits from this kennel has outstanding heads and strong necks. Lovely shoulder and front on this one excels in length of sternum and ribbing strong topline, moves exceptionally well both coming and going and keeps a lovely out line on the move CC & BOB. 2. Fulton’s Ch Bothlyn Penny Black. One I have always admired, she is a very worthy champion beautifully put together and moves well unfortunately I felt she was carrying a little too much weight today which detracted from her outline.
