DACHSHUND - MINIATURE WIRE HAIRED

Due to the appalling conditions, I was unable to commence judging until 3.30 p.m.  Thanks must go to the Dog Show Committee who did their very best to keep things running smoothly but, understandably, due to the restricted number of "serviceable" rings, some breeds had to wait their turn.  Sadly the long wait and the bad conditions had an effect on some of the dogs and thus played a part in the decisions I reached.

JD(2) Puppies of  9 and 10 months old. 1 Tyler's Pellismer Gives The Nod To Aspera. Lovely head with dark eye, although needs a bit more confidence. 2 Hunt's Earthseas Pocket Rocket. Presented a more balanced outline. Would have preferred more front angulation and length of ribcage on both exhibits.

PGD(1) 1 Stephenson's Molloney Oh Oh Seven Von Wistex. Quality dog with well balanced head of good length. Lovely expression with almond shaped dark eye and good head profile. Long, clean neck. Well made front and strong quarters. Good presentation. Moved freely over the rough ground.

LD(5, 1) 1 Stephenson's Molloney Oh Oh Seven Von Wistex. BD. 2 Otter's Nordach Mr Muffin Of Tarkus. Nicely constructed front with prominent forechest. Pleasing head, good eye. Well angulated quarters. Preferred the balance of my winner although I felt this dog had the better length of ribcage. Would prefer a slightly harsher coat. 3 Moore's Danvichar Euphrasia.

OD(1) 1 Punter's Ch Welcumen Jeremy. Well constructed dog of two years old with good harsh coat.  Lovely head and dark eye.  Well made front with good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Prominent forechest. Deep chest, well ribbed back. Correct top line to angulated quarters. Obviously a quality dog as his Title would suggest but sadly he was somewhat reluctant to move, no doubt, due to the boggy conditions. Reserve Best Dog.

JB(5, 1) 1 Stythe's Dickleygate's Lucky Lindsay. 14 month old. Pleasing head with good length of muzzle. Well laid shoulder and prominent forechest.  Good length of ribcage to short strong loin. Level topline. Well made quarters. Coarse coat was well presented. Moved well considering the conditions. Reserve Best Bitch. 2 Otter's Russteck Crowdie. Delightful 7 month old, full of arrogance and self assurance. Good reach of neck, well laid shoulder good return of upper arm. Level topline, deep chest, well ribbed back to strong loin. Well angulated quarters. Unfortunate to be competing with an older, more mature bitch. Bold and outgoing, she moved with reach and drive. Best Puppy. 3 Hunt's Earthsea Dark Sorcery.

LB(5,2) 1 Black's Drakesleat Cheez Der One For Bassodon. Good eye and head with intelligent expression. Long, strong neck. Well laid shoulder and return of upper arm. Deep chest, well ribbed back with correct coupling. Level topline. Correctly angulated quarters, short hocks. Lovely outline with the correct amount daylight underneath. Well presented and handled. Best Bitch and BOB. 2 Hunt's Earthsea Chocolate Tear. Well made bitch with attractive head, strong neck, deep chest with good ribbing. Level topline, strong quarters. Scored in front construction although a bit lower to the ground than the winner. Good outline standing but, on the move, appeared rather disturbed by the wind.

OB(2) 1 Black's Bassodon Burlesque. Good conformation with nice head and expression, strong level top line, deep chest. Short coupled. Felt she was lacking in confidence today. 2 Smith & Moon's Drakesleat Bahn Anna. Nice bitch of 6 years.  Pleasing head, dark eye. Nicely constructed although I would have preferred her to carry more body. Coat texture could be harsher. Ably shown by her young handler.
