Bitches outnumbered dogs by about three to one in this entry but my general impression was that the balance of quality was more in favour of the males. Quite a number of dogs & bitches looked lovely stacked up but failed to hold their shape on the move. I would like to think that I do not have a fetish for movement to the point that I cannot see the overall picture, but I must admit a decent length of stride in most hound breeds is very often the icing on the cake.
V
(1) 1 Hill & Niall’s Drakesleat Material Girl at Kanstul, nine years b/t/brindle
bitch, very good size & type, shown in good condition, head of good length,
harsh jacket, stepped out well. Stood a bit high in rear at times but I am sure
allowances can be made for a lady of her years. Looked in good shape for her
years, outgoing temperament.
MPD (3) 1 Kent’s Barratini
Teddyboy at Lokmadi, 8 months brindle of good size & type, very together &
showy, attractive head, long neck. Could extend more in front movement. Good
shoulder placement, harsh coat, should have a promising career with his outgoing
temperament & super outline. 2 Blackburn’s Stargang Russian Roulette, 6 months
brindle, very houndy dog, good bone & ribbing, harsh coat. Not quite as firm in
front as 1 at this stage. Looked good on the move once he settled. 3 Grant’s
Barratini Ted Astaire at Granhoward.
PD (1) 1 Thorn Andrews’ Drakesleat If Looks Cud Kill, 9 months promising brindle, excellent type & balance, very much the houndy expression I look for, good underjaw, very good keel & forechest, good topline & quarters, lovely harsh jacket. Pressed hard for the CC but I just felt the older dog covered a shade more ground on the move. Still a baby but a successful show career no doubt beckons. RCC, BP & RBPIS.
JD (1) 1 Rose’s Ridanflight Ricardo, 17 months brindle, eyecatching youngster, very showy & alert, head of good length, very good keel & shoulder, long neck, harsh coat, good ribbing. Stood a little high in rear at times. Looked good going around.
YD
(1, 1 absent).
PGD (1) 1 Dance’s Waldmeister Rova To You Emem, 18 months brindle, well
proportioned dog, good ground clearance, lovely houndy head & eye, good length
of keel. Would prefer more angulation, topline slightly arched on the move.
Super harsh jacket, used his hindquarters when moving.
LD (2) 1 Dunn’s Barratini Danz
On to Ashridge, brindle of overall pleasing type, good head & expression, very
good topline which he maintained on the move, good turn of stifle. Would prefer
a slightly better return of upper arm. Coat of good texture. 2 Hayward’s
Foxearth Fiddler On The Roof, masculine red dog, head of good length, good bone,
long neck. Would prefer firmer elbows & he moved a shade high in rear. Good
ribbing, stepped out well.
OD (4) 1 Fulton’s Ch Bothlyn
Brigadoon, masculine brindle, shown in lovely hard condition, really caught my
eye with his houndy outlook & outstanding hind action with real width & drive,
good body proportions, maintained his shape well on the move, good reach in
front, difficult to deny on this form. CC & RBOB; 2 Thorn Andrews’ Ch Drakesleat
Win Tin Tin, top quality b/t/brindle, head of good length, good body
proportions, super keel & shoulder, shown in good jacket. Much to like but just
felt he looked a bit tired today so had to bend the knee to his younger
kennelmate for the RCC; 3 Phillips’ Ch Curtisey Boogy Woogy.
MPB (5) 1 Meredith’s Deepdax Perrie, 8 months brindle, very neat & typical, very good angulation at both ends, good length of keel, coat of good texture, held her outline well on the move. BPB. 2 Kirkwood’s Helydon Fabulous Freya, 6 months brindle, slightly taller type with plenty of ground clearance, good keel & shoulder. Not as together on the move as 1; 3 Walker’s Roselle Irenee.
PB (6,1) 1 Russell’s
Russteck I Dreamed A Dream, 12 months b/t/brindle, houndy bitch, good ground
clearance, excellent harsh coat. Head of good length but would prefer a slightly
stronger muzzle. Good turn of stifle, held her shape well on the move; 2 Rose’s
Ridanflight Reflection, 9 months brindle, head of good length, good keel &
shoulder. Stood a shade high in rear at times & croup was a bit squared off.
Stepped out OK; 3 Baxter’s Hotwire Starstruck.
JB (4) 1 Thorn Andrews’
Drakesleat Fingers Xrossed, 15 months b/t/brindle, lovely head & expression,
long neck, excellent topline both standing & moving. Could move with slightly
more drive. Super parallel movement fore & aft, strong loin, neat quarters, a
very balanced outline like others from this kennel; 2 R I Dreamed A Dream; 3
Selley’s Ubu Cracklin Rosie for Heleanne.
YB
(3) 1 Price’s Samlane Alexis, 18 months brindle, very dainty & feminine, good
body proportions but could have a shade more to her. Loved her way of going,
moving freely on a long loose lead, kept shape nicely as she went; 2 Poxon’s
Upto Mischief Diervilla via Kapodach, wild boar, slightly taller type, good
ground clearance, head of good length. Would prefer more angulation & a shorter
loin. Movement OK; 3 Morris’ Stargang Quintina at Pennywave.
PGB (6,1) 1 Kugow & Holt’s Waldmeister Annie, 18 months dark brindle,
houndy expression, strong jaw, well balanced body, good forehand & quarters,
harsh coat, held her outline well on the move; 2 Morris’ Banburg Black Opal at
Stargang, brindle just off a litter so underline not as good as 1. Overall nice
type, stepped out quite well, good turn of stifle; 3 Baxter’s Hotwire All Shook
Up.
LB (5) 1 Poxon’s Kapodach Cup Cake, dark brindle, good head & expression,
good topline, very good turn of stifle. Front movement could have a shade more
width. Very together on the move; 2 Walker’s Deepdax In The Red at Roselle,
b/t/brindle, overall nice type, good ribbing & stifle. Shoulder could be better
placed which is reflected in her front movement. Stepped out OK; 3 Smith’s
Drakesleat Round N’ Round.
OB (2) 1 Thorn Andrews’ Ch Drakesleat Scent Sybil, top quality brindle,
really filled my eye with her super outline & lovely breed type, so very good to
go over, lovely head & expression, well angulated forehand & quarters, excellent
parallel action out & back, kept her shape well on the move, shown in tip top
condition, a winning combination of beauty & functionality. CC, BOB & BIS; 2
Dance’s Ch Emem Candy Sunshine, very well named brindle, such a jolly character,
attractive head, neat outline, balanced body of good proportions. Not quite the
forehand of 1 but came back in for the challenge where her sound driving
movement & outgoing temperament captured the RCC.
