Many thanks to exhibitors for the very nice entry (with
only one absentee) considering the distance between the Hound Show, held in
Stafford, the day before, and todays venue in Exeter. No mean feat with the
school holiday traffic and the effect on the dogs themselves. Excellent
sporting atmosphere around the ringside, although it would have been nicer
for everybody if we had had an outside ring, as the constant barking in the
main hall (causing a horrible echo throughout), really did upset many of the
exhibits, particularly the youngsters. Very pleased with my line-ups and
thrilled to hear my BOB was placed third in the Group. On the whole the
overall quality of the bitches was better than in the males and some
exhibits were a little fond of their tails, but feet, coats and presentation
was very good.
PD (3) 1 Howell's Fallowmill Sydney TAF. Gorgeous, just
6 mths, mature brindle, a real showman who really made the best of himself
moving and standing, excellent overall construction with handsome, typical
head, dark eye and correct expression, good ears and set, moved with great
drive and front reach. A super pup who I am sure will go far. Interested to
see he is sired by my CC and BOB winner. BP. 2 Hayward & Howell's Fallowmill
Canberra. Less mature, litter brother to above who is very similar in type
and conformation, has a lot to like about him, just less confidence and not
quite the easy soundness and drive of above, looked good standing and well
handled. 3 Kugow & Holt's Waldmeister Darby.
JD (3) None of the exhibits excelled themselves in this
class. 1 Spence & Kirkwood-Emery's Helydon Goharley At Cicada. 13 mths,
dark brindle. I liked his well balanced head and dark eye, nicely made
throughout with excellent length and body, correct ribbing and good front
and hind co-ordination. Side movement very good, just needs to settle on the
front, well handled. 2 Fry's Bedelslea Charlibird Parker. 12 mths red,
excellent red and dark eye, good ears and set, slightly longer cast than
above and less spring of rib, still immature and a bit of a handful, but
moves with style and presence. 3 Lancaster's Pellismer Ottdeal.
PGD (2, 1) 1 Neate's Beacat Eddie Tor. 2 yr old red,
mature, masculine hound who, unfortunately, was a little apprehensive today,
but he has very good head and dark eye, long neck into well laid shoulders,
good depth and spring, correct co-ordination front and rear movement, has
good type and style.
LD (4, 1) 1 Thorn-Andrews' Drakesleat Hostile Takeover.
Very handsome youngster who is mature at only 18 mths. Excellent overall
balance and conformation, well bodied with correct length and depth, not
quite the finish of older class mates but has correct type and moved soundly
front and rear. Won this class with ease. Res CC. 2 Neates' Beacat Exfactor.
5 yr old red, more mature than above but another who was a little
apprehensive today. Lovely typical head and eye, but not the topline and
overall balance of above and would like more drive behind, but has good
style. 3 Hayward's Taree Scoville At Wirefusion.
OD (3) 1 Roses' Ch Ridanflight Ricardo. Two and a half
yr old brindle, classy hound who, for me, has all the essentials, oozes
quality and type. I like everything about him and he did not disappoint,
really looked the part standing and moving. I have previously judged and
placed him Group 1, and today he is more mature and in perfect coat with
excellent furnishings. Pleased to award him his 20th CC and proud to hear he
was placed Group 3. Interested to see two gorgeous puppies today (including
BP), were his progeny, and I am sure he will be a big influence in the
future. 2 Dance's Waldmeister Rove To You Emem. 2 yr old brindle, mature
litter brother to BCC winner, masculine throughout, not the overall quality
of above but has good style and presence. 3 Stancliffe's Portalutra Mr
Thomas Of Tarkus.
PB (6) Very nice class to judge, all exhibits having a
lot to like about them. 1 Morris' Pennywave Uptown Girl. 7 mths, feminine
with very pretty head and dark eye, excellent overall conformation with
lovely outline and true, sound, easy movement. More settled than class mates
and although was pressed hard by the very special second, she really made
the best of herself for one so young. Excellent handler. 2 Howell's
Fallowmill Wagga Wagga TAF. Great name and very apt, her tail never stopped.
A real bobby dazzler who is litter sister to my BP winner. Excellent
construction throughout, well bodied at only just 6 mths, very immature but
shows great potential and hope she follows in her famous fathers footsteps.
One I would definitely take home. 3 Salisbury's Barranti Hot Chick At
Brocklewood.
JB (1) 1 Morris' Pennywave Top Totti. 13 mths brindle,
top quality youngster, half sister to excellent puppy winner, feminine and
sound with good substance. Well balanced head and dark eye, good ears and
set, long neck into correct shoulders with good depth and length. Pleasing
topline and sound well muscled hindquarters, good tail set and carriage.
Nice feet, excellent mover, shortlisted in the challenge and but for age and
maturity was seriously considered for the Res CC.
PGB (4) First two difficult to separate, both have good
type and overall balance. 1 Beckett's Beckshounds Under My Spell. Feminine
half sister to post grad dog and limit dog winners. Two and a half yr old
dark brindle who looked good both standing and moving, excellent front and
hind angulation with good depth and length of body. 2 Hambling's Tythe
Idaho. Not dissimilar to above in style. Two and a half yrs old, lovely head
and dark eye, nicely constructed throughout and moved soundly but a little
apprehensive when standing. Two nice bitches. 3 Watkins' Brookliad Lady
Morgan Le Fay Of Blackvein.
LB (5) 1 Kugow & Holt's Waldmeister Annie JW. Mature 2
yr old, lovely bitch who was my winner as she entered the ring and she never
put a foot wrong, moved with sound, parallel movement, exactly as the
standard requires. Great head and eye, lovely ears and set, long neck into
correct shoulders and true front, good depth and spring, correct ribbing and
length, tail and set, just right with sound strong hindquarters. Pleased to
award her her first CC, not quite the finish of the dog in the challenge but
I am sure she will gain her title soon. 2 Kirkwood's Helydon Fabulous Freya.
Only 21 mths but in top form, superb coat and condition, excellent head and
dark eye, overall balance and conformation. Really liked her type, standing
looked a picture but a little lacking in confidence on the move today, would
like to see her in an outside ring. Not the maturity of above but a lot to
like about her. 3 Lancaster's Pellismer Deals A Winner.
OB (5) 1 Thorn-Andrews' Ch Drakesleat Scent Sybil. 3 yr
old, top quality hound who is in her prime. Well balanced head and dark eye,
excellent overall type, good co-ordination front and rear, correct depth,
length and topline, well bodied. Outmoved her class mates with style and
presence. Res CC. 2 Morris' Stargang Quintina At Pennywave. Mature 3 yr old
who is the excellent dam of my PB winner. She has great body and substance,
type and overall balance, very pretty head and dark eye, correct expression,
moved soundly front and rear, pressed winner hard. 3 Dance's Bimini Time To
Travel To Emem.
