I was honoured to be invited this variety at Crufts and would like to thank my two very competent steward and the exhibitors for their super quality entry. I found there were two very distinct types the continental type all of which have superb heads, reach of neck and spot on toplines on the move, also due to the little extra leg length very fluid movement. Having said that our own British type has a great deal to offer I found them to be much better in front assembly, with a better spring of rib and roundness of rump. The breed standard does call for an oval thorax that fits snugly into the foreleg this is where this type excelled, over the continentals.
Veteran Dog (3) 1. Black’s CH BASSODON BILBIE extremely well balanced, lovely head, good reach of neck moves out well, won this class with ease. 2. Evans EMEM STORMS AHEAD still in lovely condition for his age, very well presented and moves soundly. 3. Ward-Blower’s WILLOWMIST LITTLE RED ROOSTER
Minor Puppy Dog (2) Two very immature puppies but both show great promise. Sure they will change places many times 1. Garrity’s RUSTECK WYRED FOR SOUND AT MACUSHIA good front and shoulder, good length to rib, super rear drive holds his topline better on the move 2. Russell’s RUSSTECK WYRE IN THE BLOOD same coments apply just not as mature as his brother at the moment
Puppy Dog (2) 1. R Wyred for Sound 2. Cassidy’s ROSENEZ LITTLE RAMBLER, pleasing head and reach of neck, little short in upper arm and ribbing not the rear drive of the winner.
Junior Dog (6) 1. Feetham’s KIMBLEHOLME JACKPOT, lovely clean outline, which is all of a piece and keeps keeps a lovely outline on the move. Pleasing head, good reach of neck, clean front and well placed shoulder, well coupled in the loin, strong hindquarters which he uses to the full. 2. Howells FALLOWMILL SYDNEY Lovely head, good reach of neck, sound front, good topline, not quite the ribbing of the winner and preferred the tail carriage of Jackpot on the move. 3 Presnails TAREE USELESS LOOP
Yearling Dog (10) 1. Busta ROMEO MY WONDERBOY VITORAZ b & t This young man caught my eye the moment he entered the ring. His movement was a joy to watch he has that lovely reach and drive that I was looking for and keeps a lovely outline and topline at all times. Superb head perhaps a touch round in eye, good mouth, lovely length of neck well coupled body, well made front with sufficient forechest. 2. Kuropatkina BALTIYSKIY TALISMAN LUCKY BOY Br another really lovely youngster that has a lot to offer the breed, liked everything about him again super outline and movement, not quite the forechest of the winner 3. Shones STRAX GOGOL
Post Graduate Dog (10) (2abs) 1. F. SYDNEY 2. Flowers & Soderberg a sound very well balance dog, lovely head, good mouth, good strong neck of sufficient length good ribbing, strong hindquarters which he uses to the full, not such a tight fitting forechest as the winner and a little more detail to presentation needed 3. Tubbs WESTWILLOW MINI MAJOR RICH
Limit Dog (13) (3 abs) 1. Barcella’s KINGSLORD EAGER BOY JW He filled my eye completely, beautiful head, good strong mouth, well filled in front, lovely bone and feet, good shoulder placement, good length of ribbing well coupled loin strong well angulated hindquarters and when he moves everything falls into place. He has terrific reach and rear drive and the cleanest of outlines on the move CC & BOB wish he was mine 2. Grant’s BARRATINI TED ASTAIRE AT GRANHOWARD lovely dog of a different type, much lower to ground and more compact, extremely well put together, moves out well and his movement is very precise keeps a lovely outline at all times. 3. Blesnowski’s BAJER ZIBIBIM HAU JCHPL
Open Dog (8) (1abs) A quality class that it was a pleasure to judge 1. Haywards FOXEARTH FIDDLER ON THE ROOF red Super head, good mouth, sufficient reach of neck, excellent front assembly and shoulder placement, good ribbing, well coupled loin, strong hindquarters, moves with precision, shown in tiptop condition RCC just preferred the touch more body length and elegance of the CC winner 2. Rose’s CH RIDANFLIGHT RICARDO one I have always admired and he did not disappoint me on his construction, a very worthy champion but not moving as well as the winner behind on the day.3. Fulton’s CH BOTHLYN BRIGADOON a very worthy champion made on classis lines, just a touch to low to ground for my own personal preference
Good Citizens Dog (1) (1abs)
Veteran Bitch (4) (1abs) 1. Hayward’s CH FOXEARTH FOTO COPY red, at 12 she really is a credit to her owner, in beautiful condition still has a lovely outline and can still move out well. 2. Kirkwood’s UBU ISLA AT HELYDON br still looking really smart for an old lady again in lovely condition for her age but a touch more portly than Foto Copy 3. Ward-Blower’s WILLOWMIST BROWN SUGAR
Minor Puppy Bitch – no entries
Puppy Bitch (12) (1abs) A close decision between the first two Hunts EARTHSEAS APRIL FOOL pleasing head, good mouth and bite, sufficient neck, good reach of neck lovely front coming and correct should angles, has slightly more ground clearance than the second and consequently more fluid in movement. 2. Billinghurst’s DRAKESLEAT MRS SHILLING FOR JILJAC dark br sweet head, good mouth, sufficient neck, neat front and shoulder, good length and spring of rib super bone and feet, beautifully presented 3. Marston teal’s LORDSCAIRNIE LIFE OF LOVE
Junior Bitch (13) (3 abs) A really quality class Shone’s PHANTISIA LADY br won this class hands down on her super movement, she has plenty or forward reach and superb rear drive simply flows around the ring. Lovely head, sound dentition, good reach of neck well developed front, correct shoulder angles and good length of ribbing, good strong hard coat just needs a touch more maturity to complete the picture and then should trouble the best RCC & BP 2. Busta’s RUSH RUSH VITORAZ Choc & tan lovely head neck and outline pushed hard to win this class, lovely front and shoulder assembly, felt she was a little too over angulated on the rear and could have done with being a touch shorter in the hock otherwise a truly lovely bitch 3. Blackburns STARGANG LIBERTY BELLE
Yearling Bitch (7) Oddie & Dyer’s BANBURG SVETLANA AT SHARNPILLY Quality bitch of good height to length ratio, pleasing head, clean reach of neck, well developed front, good shoulder placement, nice overall clean outline and cover the ground really well on the move. 2. Russell’s RUSSTECK SO FAIR A DREAM a very sound bitch well constructed body, excellent coat, moves true, but not the head of the winner. 3. Sailisbury;s BARRATINI HOT CHICK AT BROCKLEWOOD
Post Graduate Bitch (11) (1abs) Another top quality class 1. Blackburn’s STARGANG COMPANIA FABERGE nice head, good, mouth, good neck and shoulder, my notes say ‘Superb text book front’ good length of rib, well coupled and sufficient balance on rear end moves true and precisely won this class with ease. 2. Busta’s RUDOLFINA MADAM CHIC VITORAZ lovely type, lovely overall outline, not the front of winner and would prefer a touch more length of body but another excellent mover as were all from this kennel. 3. Rose’s RIDANFLIGHT RELECTION
Limit Bitch (14) (2abs) A Close decision between 1 and 2 1. Morris’s PENNYWAVE TOP TOTTI 2. Price;s SAMLANE BELLEZA this was a difficult class to judge, both had lovely heads sufficient neck, excelled in front assembly and good shoulders and ribbing. Preferred Belleza on the stack but Top Totti had the beating of her on rear drive, this was definitely nit picking and am sure they will change places on many occasions 3.Jones BIMMI FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE
Open Bitch (7) (2ABS) What a lovely class and thank you for the opportunity of judging your lovely top class girls it was a great pity I had no more prize cards as there were many quality girls that I could not place unfortunately. 1. Hayward’s FOXEARTH FATMA SALKAN red I don’t think I have ever seen this bitch look better she was on top form and presented to perfection. She has a lovely typical true dachshund head, clean neck, excellent front and shoulder placement, your hands simply cup nicely around her tight fitting front assembly, she is of the correct height to length ratio, good spring of rib, strong coupling and well balanced hindquarters which she uses to the full. CC. 2. Barcella’s ITA CH QUEENLORD SKINNY LOVE another lovely bitch she has a classic outline, lovely flowing movement and commands the ring, however I preferred the depth and roundness of the front of the winner.3. Kupropatkina RUSH CH BALTIYSKIY TALISMAN ISTORIA LUBVI a lovely girl in top class company but a very worthy champion
Good Cit B (2) (1abs) 1. Stephenson’s BOTHYLY INDIGO BLUE AT WISTEX well balanced bitch that is soundly constructed, a little on the plump side today but a worthy winner
