I was very pleased to be asked to judge at this lovely show & my entry was filled with quality hounds. Temperaments were generally very good, I only found one incorrect bite &, mostly, the hounds were presented in good order.
B (0). MPD (2,1a) 1 Holt’s Waldmeister Aldo, this young dog impressed me from the start & he did not disappoint on inspection. Masculine head with a dark eye & well placed leathers. Long neck leading to a correct front assembly. His ribs are of a good length & he has strong well angulated quarters. He moved out well & with a very happy attitude. BP & RCC. PD (3) 1 Hayward’s Foxearth Filharmonic, dark brindle of quality. Good head & expression leading on to enough neck & correct shoulder placement. Decent ribbing supporting a strong backline & well angulated quarters, which he used well on the move; 2 Crossman’s Energy Elegance Franklin, another good young male with very similar attributes to the winner of this class. Just preferred overall outline of 1; 3 Hayward’s Bedeslea Howdy Doody. JD (4,2) 1 Thorn-Andrews’ Drakesleat On The Nod, overall, this is a well balanced & nicely constructed young dog. He has a pleasing head & his shoulders are well placed. His topline was maintained & his quarters are well angulated; 2 Russell’s Russteck Wyre In The Blood, a completely different type of hound. A sound male who, again, has a good head, neck & well sprung ribs. A bit tall for my preference, but his movement was sound & he sports a glorious coat. PGD (3,1) 1 Rose’s Ridanflight Rock On Tommy, lovely male who has good breed type. Masculine head & lengthy neck leading on to correct shoulders with pro-sternum. Well angulated quarters & good ribbing supporting a strong backline; 2 Hayward & Howell’s Fallowmill Cambera, this male has some good qualities. Masculine head & decent neck. His shoulders are OK & he has reasonable ribbing. Well angulated quarters enabled him to move out quite well. Fabulous coat & a happy, outgoing chap. LD (4,1) 1 Howell’s Fallowmill Sydney, I have always liked this dog & he did not disappoint on the table or on the move. Masculine head with lengthy neck, correct shoulder assembly, well sprung ribs supporting a strong backline. His quarters are nicely angulated & he moved out with style; 2 Pain’s Ravensbeech Rigoletto, another good exhibit who, again, was correctly made & moved out well. I preferred the overall balance of 1; 3 Presnail’s Taree Useless Loop. OD (4) This class was of the highest standard. 1 Jones’ Ch Bimini Starstruck, top drawer male in beautiful condition. He has it all, impressive head, lengthy neck, strong & correct forehand, well sprung ribs & powerful, well angulated quarters. He sports a good coat & is of a gentle nature. Maintained his outline at all times. CC, BOB & RBIS. Well done; 2 Rose’s Ch Ridanflight Ricardo, top winning male who is sire of 1. A beautiful hound & so very appealing. He oozes breed type & quality, which he is producing in his progeny; 3 Thorn Andrews’ Ch Drakesleat Jp Once In A Blue Moon.
MPB (3) 1 Marston-Teal’s Lordscairnie Moon Over Love, just 6 months & all of a piece. Very feminine head & correctly made in her forehand. She has good ribbing & sound quarters. She moved out with style & maintained a good profile; 2 Phillips’ Clipperdown Thatsa Thistle, a lovely, quality baby who was just so unsettled by the noisy hall. I love her type & she has a lovely head & expression, but she was unhappy for me to go over her & I was reluctant to push her too far; 3 Watkins’ Blackvein Jackanory. PB (1) 1 Hayward’s Foxearth Fabracadabra, a sweet little red with the hardest coat. A little bit fine for me but she is nicely constructed & maintains a good profile, both stacked & on the move. She is developing a good pro-sternum & has good ribbing supporting a strong backline. BPB. JB (3,1) 1 Meredith’s Deepdax Let’s Dance, a quality brindle girl who has a lovely head & expression, a long neck leading on to a correct front assembly, & well angulated quarters which she uses well on the move. Her ribs are just long enough & reasonably smooth. She maintains a lovely profile on the move; 2 Tyler’s Aspera Hats Off To Yer, this young lady is quite a nice shape but very soft coated & not the quality of 1. PGB (8,2) A very mixed class. 1 Marston-Teal’s Lordscairnie Life Of Love, this girl is very well balanced & sports a good head & lengthy neck, leading on to a correct forehand. She has a strong backline, a good underline & has well angulated quarters, which she uses well on the move; 2 Meredith’s Deepdax Perrie, another good type of hound who has very similar attributes to 1. Today, I preferred the general outline of the class winner; 3 Blackburn’s Stargang Liberty Belle. LB (9,6) 1 Russell’s Russteck So Fair A Dream, pretty little bitch headed this class & she is very pleasing in her construction & type. The best coat today. An attractive head & expression with a good length of neck. Very correct in her front assembly & a decent ribcage supported a strong backline. She moved out true both fore & aft & I was pleased to award her the RCC in a good bitch line-up; 2 Blackburn’s Stargang Compania Faberge, a very typy girl who has a lot of quality. A beautiful head & expression, lengthy neck & good ribs supporting a strong backline. Well-angulated quarters. Today, I preferred the front of the winner; 3 Miller’s Palsuz Easter Bonnet. OB (6,3) Top quality class. 1 Thorn-Andrew’s Ch Drakesleat Scent Sybil, this brindle girl has had everything said about her. I judged her as a youngster & loved her then. She is lovely to go over, her construction is just so correct & she flows under your hands. Very correct all through & moved out with style. CC & RBOB; 2 Hayward’s Ch Foxearth Fatma Salkan, this, again, is a quality girl who ticked all the boxes. Beautiful outline, both staked & on the move. Very good front assembly & deep ribbing supporting a strong backline. Moved true fore & aft; 3 Jones’ Bimini From Russia With Love. VB (5,2) 1 Dance’s Emem All Het Up, 9 year old who still struts her stuff & maintains a good profile, both stacked & on the move. Nicely put together, she was pleasing all through; 2 Hayward’s Ch Foxearth Foto Copy, 13 years! This lovely old lady is still sound & active & very correct in her construction; 3 Walker’s Deepdax In The Red at Roselle.
