I was delighted to be invited to judge Miniature wire haired Dachshunds at the Hound show. Thank you to my very competent lady stewards who kept things running smoothly. Also, a big thank you to the exhibitors for their numerically very high entry. My first time judging this variety with CC’s, some quality in both dogs and bitches, breed type varies, toplines could improve, but I was able to find my ideal, a balanced hound with good breed type, a harsh coat and typical furnishing

1^st Russell’s Russteck the Bruce, Dark brindle with lovely head and dark eye, good harsh coat, well off for bone with good feet. Correct front assembly, long neck, and good length of ribbing, well let down hind quarters moved well. BPD.

2^nd Kay’s Kaytien over Haiti. Red, a rangier type than one, and not as correct in front assembly, but has a lovely head and dark eye, long neck, and decent ribbing, quite shallow in body now…. needs time.

1^st Kugo and Holts Waldmeister Aldo

Young dog with good breed type, well off for bone and good feet, lovely head with typical furnishings, and dark eye, in harsh coat, correct front assembly, elegant neck, and strong ribbing, toned well-muscled quarters, which gave strong hind movement, moved well with purpose, a real working hound. RCC

2^nd Thorn Andrews Alncroft over the moon Drakesleet.. Typical head and dark eye…excellent front construction, as were all from this exhibiter, elegant neck leading to good shoulder placement, well angled quarter’s, moved well…just preferred substance of one.

1^st Harmer’s Bardrestan Sea Tiger…Red dog with lovely head and Dark eye, in good harsh jacket, sound front assembly and decent ribbing, a little erratic on the move.

2^nd Stephenson’s Ohotnichyi Azart Fahrenheit Von Wistex. Dark brindle with strong masculine head, not as correct in front as one, and lighter in bone, good hind angulation, moved ok.

3^rd Heather’s Ravensbeech Rossini with Whiteorchard.

1^st Clare’s Lordscarnie Love God. Dark brindle of good breed type and very good overall construction which won him the class. Good harsh jacket…and typical head furnishings, he moved well…just lacks a bit of sparkle.

2^nd Morrison’s Benzden Luna Rose, Brindle boy, who is lower to ground than one, and couldn’t match his front assembly, but has good length of ribbing, and decent hind angles, moved well.

3^rd Haywood and Howells..Fallowmill Canberra

LD 6-1

1^st Howells Fallowmill Sydney JW. I liked the overall balance of this dog, Sound front construction, he has good feet and bone, well laid shoulder, long ribbing, well let down quarters, keeping a good topline on the move.

2^nd Russells Russteck Wire in the Blood, Lovely type on this dog, who was pushing the scales a little too much. Dark brindle with good harsh coat. Lovely head, enough fore chest, excellent shoulder placement, and well sprung ribs. Moved well

3^rd Presnails Taree Useless Loop.

1^st Jone’s CH Bimini Startruck, A certain star for me today, with real ring presence…Quality dog well made all through, with lovely head and dark eye, good length of neck in to well-placed shoulders, lengthy ribbing, well-muscled hind quarters, with good breed type, he maintained a lovely profile on the move, keeping a good top line.CC BOB

2^nd Rose’s CH Ridanflight Ricardo A well-known, and very worthy CH, quality dog with excellent bone and feet, masculine head, super harsh jacket, so sound on the move from his strong muscled quarters. Keeping a good topline always, just preferred the more elegant outline of one.

1^st Phillips CH Curtisey Boogy Woogy, 7 years dark brindle dog, with good construction, and harsh coat, could do with his teeth cleaning! Moved ok.

1^st Jones’s Bimini Wish upon a Star, Quality eye catching baby of just 6 months, feminine head with lovely expression, lovely bone and feet, tidy front with tight elbows, good length of neck, good hind angle, moved well for one so young.

2^nd Pains Ridanflight Recherche for Ravensbeech, Another lovely baby, Smaller type and not as true in front construction as one but can improve. Nice length of ribbing…and good hind angles. Moved ok.

1^st Jones Bimini Blue Moon. Of good type and gorgeous head with super harsh coat on this lovely puppy, substance with elegance, excellent construction through, confident, she moved well keeping her topline... BP

2^nd Dances Emem Gloria Sunshine, Quality puppy of different type to one. Not quite the elegance, but she has lovely bone and feet, classic head and and expression, excellent ribbing, and chunky well balance quarters, moved happily and with purpose keeping a good topline, not so composed as one but just a baby.

3^rd Foulton’s Bothlyn Half a sixpence

1^st Blacks Bassodon Dodecahedron Quality dark brindle of good type and harsh coat and good bone. Lovely head and dark eye, well-constructed through, moved well.

2^nd Pains Russteck Nicely Nicely for Ravensbeech Red … with lovely head and expression, well made through, just not the substance of one, but of good type, moved well

Meredith’s Deepdax lets Dance Another quality bitch, with good construction through, and harsh coat, not quite as balanced in outline as one, she covered the ground well keeping a good topline.
