Thank you to the society for the invitation to judge Miniature Wirehaired Dachshunds at WKC. I felt it a great honour to award my first set of Challenge Certificates at The Welsh Kennel Club Championship Show, in the country of my birth. I thoroughly enjoyed my day, Thank you to the exhibitors for their entry and presenting me with some lovely dachshunds to asses. My placings were made as I saw each exhibit on the day, I found temperaments to be very good, all exhibits having a correct scissor bite and the majority with the correct wire coat that was clean and well presented and all appeared well and in good body condition. Finally thank you to my two stewards for their assistance and ensuring the smooth running of the ring.

VD 1 Phillips', Ch Curtisey Boogy Woogy JW. Lovely class to start with, 8yr old very typy brindle, who has a well balanced outline, everything in proportion, and fitting together. I would prefer a more masculine head, but it is correct in shape and well balanced. He has a dark almond eye, scissor bite, a good reach of neck, well developed and filled chest, prominent pro sternum and a good length of keel. His shoulder is well laid back, ribs are well sprung and carried well back into a short loin. His hind quarters are broad and well developed, has a good bend of stifle and hammy thighs that have good width and depth. He uses all of these attributes to move in profile with a free and easy stride, showing reach and drive elbows in, keeping his topline and was true moving out and back. He stands on good bone and feet, has a super wire coat and was presented in fit, hard condition. He was thoroughly enjoying himself is a credit to his owner and a very worthy champion. Pleased to award him BV. 2 Hayward's, Taree Scoville At Wirefusion. 7yr old dark brindle, with good breed type. He has a strong houndy head, lovely dark almond shaped eye and strong jaw, good reach of neck, prominent pro sternum and a good lay back of shoulder. His ribs are well sprung and his hind quarters are broad and well developed with a good bend of stifle and hammy thighs. He moved freely with reach and drive keeping his top line, and was true moving out, but a little wide coming back. He has good bone and a super wire jacket that was well presented and he was also in lovely fit and hard condition. Another who is also a credit to his owner.

MPD 1 Phillips', Gulliagh Loganberry Of Robinswood. 7mth typy baby who presents a lovely balanced outline. He has a correct head shape and proportions, dark almond eye and correct bite. He has a good length of neck, prominent pro sternum and a well filled oval chest. His shoulder is nicely layed back with a good spring and length of rib. His hind quarters are well constructed and angled and his thighs are well developed with good width and depth. He moved around the ring freely with reach and drive taking everything in his stride and was true moving out and back. A lovely baby who is maturing well, with everything in the right place for the future. 2 Shone's, Hanishan Springagain. A dark brindle baby who is coming up to 8mths and many of the same comments apply as the 1st. He has a correct head and almond eye, good length of neck, forequarters are ok, would prefer a more prominent pro sternum though. His ribs are well sprung, has a good length to his loin and his hind quarters are well angled and constructed. He has good bone and a wire coat that was well presented. He was a little unsettled in his movement, but was sympathetically handled and kept moving forward to complete the job. Preferred the front construction today at this stage of 1st. 3 Kent's, Barratini Ready To Rumble At Lokmadi.

PD 1 Jones and Jones', Carlita Sunrise. 11 mth dark brindle, very typy, presents with a lovely balanced profile. He has a correct houndy head that is balanced, strong jaw and a dark almond shaped eye. He has a good length of neck, a prominent pro sternum, and an oval chest with width through his keel. His shoulders are nicely layed back, ribs are well sprung with his under line balancing his top line. His hind quarters are well angled, good bend of stifle and deep hammy thighs. He stands on good bone and feet, has a lovely wire coat and moved around the ring with plenty of reach and drive, elbows in maintaining his top line and was true out and back. He was well handled, was presented in lovely condition, just needs to tighten up thruought which I`m sure he will do as he matures. Liked him a lot. BPD. 2 Crossman's, Janter Clarion. Another promising baby, a more compact type than 1st, lots to like about him, has a nice make and shape and presents a well balanced outline. He has a lovely masculine, houndy head that has good proportions, a dark almond shaped eye and a strong jaw, he has a prominent fore chest, shoulder, ribs are well sprung and carried back to a short loin and well constructed and developed hind quarters. He has good bone and feet and a lovely wire coat. He moved out steadily appearing a little unsure on times, but was sympathetically handled and kept moving forward. 3 Phillips, Gulliagh Logenberry Of Robinswood.

He presents a lovely balanced outline when stacked which is maintained when he moves, is pleasing on the eye and nothing appearing exaggerated or over done and I was delighted to award him the CC his 3rd and his title. Congratulations! 2 Fulton's Bothlyn Super Trouper. Another lovely balanced example with lots of breed type, slightly taller and longer cast than 1st lots of the same comments apply. He has a good length of neck, prominent pro sternum, shoulder is layed back, ribs are sprung and carried back to a strong loin, and well developed and constructed hind quarters. He has good bone and feet a lovely wire coat, and moved soundly maintaining his top line and was true out and back. Needs to mature and strengthen which he has plenty of time to do.

PGD 1 Fulton's, Bothlyn Super Trouper.

LD 1 Kugow and Holt's Waldmeister Jonah. Taller, more rangier in type, but is well balanced and proportioned. He has a strong houndy and balanced head, a dark almond shaped eye and a strong jaw and scissor bite. He has a good length of neck, prominent pro sternum and his shoulder is well laid back to a good spring and length of ribbing. His hind quarters are well developed with good angles and bend to stifle and deep muscular thighs. He is a well proportioned and balanced hound who was presented in fit and muscular condition, has good bone and feet, and a well presented wire coat. He moved in profile with a free and easy stride displaying plenty of reach and drive maintaining his top line and was true and parallel when moving out and back. Best mover in class. 2 Kay's Kaytian Tempest Over Haiti. A more compact hound than 1st displaying plenty of breed type, similar comments apply as to 1st. He presents a nicely balanced outline, was well constructed and had good angles to his front and hind quarters. RCC. 2 Presnail's Taree Useless Loop. Another mature dark brindle, not as flashy or as eye catching on entering the ring as some, but he has many virtues and when he is stacked and gone over on the table, then you can appreciate that he is well constructed and proportioned and is balanced in profile, which is maintained when he moves. He has a correct conical shaped head, dark almond shaped eye, scissor bite and correct balance of skull to muzzle. He has a good reach of neck a prominent pro sternum, chest is well filled and shoulders are laid back. This again was another lovely young bitch, slightly taller and longer cast, but still has plenty of breed type. Lots of the same comments apply to her. Her front and hind quarters are well angled and constructed with a prominent pro sternum, good spring of rib and broad well developed rear.
