Few breeds have given me so much pleasure through my doggy life as the Miniature
Wire-Haired Dachshunds. Kari and I breed and exhibited this lovely breed for
years. We made up 12 UK champions and won a hound group with one of them on our
way. The truth is that I am still missing these attractive and funny creatures
with such amazing personalities.
In general, I was pleased with the quality of the dogs shown under. Most of them
were sound and of good type with the right proportions. I would, however, have
liked to see a few with better coats and the tail carriage was a problem. It was
too many flag poles. Here is what I thought about the different exhibits:
Puppy - Dog
1ST HIT SEDONA IZ DIVNOGORGA (MRS J M & MISS E V NORTH-ROW), This is a very
promising puppy of excellent size and quality. I liked everything about this
baby and my guess is that he will have a great future. He had a nice head and a
superb outline with the correct tail carriage. He is well angulated, and he
moved very well. BP
2ND PENNYWAVE NOSEY PARKER AT BROCKLEWOOD (MRS G SALISBURY), Similar to the
winner in type
and quality but preferred the topline on the winner on the move.
3RD BOTHLYN STORM TROUPER (MRS E & MISS G FULTON)
Limit - Dog
1ST RUSSTECK THE BRUCE (MRS C RUSSELL), It’s a lot to like about this nice dog.
He has a good head and neck and he is well developed in body with a good for
chest. He moved well, but
topline could be stronger
Open - Dog
1ST CH RIDANFLIGHT RICARDO (MR S ROSE). Here he was the King of the day. He
impressed me no end and I was taken by his wonderful head and outline. He had
the right ribbing and the
keel was perfect. He moved with drive and emotions without being overdone. I
understand that I gave him his CC number 46 which makes him the new record
holder.I therefore want to send Ricardo and his breeder my most serious
congratulation!
CC & BOB
2ND CH HELYDON LAIRD LOKI JW (MRS D, MISS A & MISS A KIRKWOOD-EMERY). Here was
another top-quality dog which also impressed me. He was just unlucky to meet
Ricardo in such great form. RCC
Veteran - Dog
1ST HOLRIK MISTER MISCHIEF (MRS C & MR N CORNER), A great old gentlemen which
still is in excellent
form. Stands and moves well.
Puppy - Bitch
1ST JOLANDA UPTOWN GIRL AT BOTHLYN (MRS E & MISS G FULTON), Promising puppy of
excellent type. She gives a superb picture standing and moves very well, but her
tail carriage was too high.
2ND BOTHLYN A WHISPER AT DACHIENNE (MRS J WHYTE), Nice bitch of good type. Good
head, front and topline, but she could have been better angulated behind. Moved
well.
3RD GRAGARETH GIRL AT CARCORN (MRS C & MR N CORNER)
Junior - Bitch
1ST STARGANG PEGGY SUE AT PENNYWAVE JW (MRS C A MORRIS), Red bitch of excellent
type. She has a nice head and is very well constructed with an attractive
outline. The topline could, however, be stronger on the move.
2ND BOTHLYN A WHISPER AT DACHIENNE (MRS J WHYTE)
3RD MOLLONEY WINNIE TERGAMES AT WISTEX (MISS J & MRS L STEPHENSON & SEXTON)
Post Graduate - Bitch
1ST EMEM CONSTANCE SUNSHINE (MRS M M DANCE). This was my little princess because
she reminded me so much of the bitches Kari and I used to show in the old days
Yes, I might have liked to see her with a slightly better head, but this did not
take anything from the positive impression this little star gave me. Her outline
and construction were superb and her tail carriage and movements were perfect.
CC
2ND HELYDON MAGICAL MIKA (G KIRKWOOD), Nice bitch of good type which
unfortunately wasn’t in the best of coat on the day. Well-constructed but
topline could be better. Moves well.
3RD FALLOWMILL INDIAN RUNNER (MRS J C HOWELLS)
Open - Bitch
1ST EMEM SUMMER SUNSHINE (MRS M M DANCE), I can now see that this is the litter
sister to my CC winner, but I could have guesses that just by looking at them.
They do look like twins and it was a close decision between the two of them. In
the end I did, however prefer the and tail carriage of Constance Sunshine so
that swung it to her advantage RCC
2ND CH HELYDON FABULOUS FREYA (MRS D, MISS A & MISS A KIRKWOOD-EMERY), Excellent
bitch of high class. She was pushing hard, but in the end, I preferred the
winner’s outline on the move.
3RDBANBURG SVETLANA AT SHARNPHILLY (MRS S ODDIE)
Special Beginners - Bitch
1ST CHARANSCO BACK TO BLACK (MISS N S THOMPSON), Nice typical birch which
unfortunately is naked on the day. She is well constructed and moves well around
but could be better in front
2ND GRAGARETH GIRL AT CARCORN (MRS C & MR N CORNER), Typical bitch with a nice
head. She is
sound, but her topline curves to much over the loin.
