This was the 4th of the Dachs breeds I judged on the day and with such a good entry and so few absent throughout the day it was a little later than I’d hoped by the time the Mini Wires were called into the ring. On top of that the hot sun was beating down, which wasn’t ideal for the dogs, but luckily we finished just in time for the BOB and BP to make it to the groups! The length of grass and uneven areas in the ring wasn’t ideal for the Mini’s but all coped well.

JD (1) 1 Tomsett’s Dajean Oatmeal Cookie. Just 12 months old, smart little lad in harsh jacket with body developing well for age, good ribbing and forechest, nice front and rear angulation and compact frame. Nicely head and expression and a smart, easy mover.

YD (1) 1 Tomsett’s Daxilee King Of Kool At Dajean. Compact dog of a nice size, with ample reach of neck. Would like more forechest. Good head properties with correctly shaped dark eyes, correctly set ears and intelligent expression. Nice coat texture, moved well.

PGD (2) 1 Grant’s Pennywave Percy At Granhoward. Nicely balanced dog of nice type. Good head shape with lovely eye, strong jaw and nicely finished muzzle. Soundly made with firm topline, good underline and clearance. Moved smartly, looking particularly good in profile. RBD. 2 Tomsett’s Daxilee King Of Kool At Dajean. See YD.

LD (2) 1 Tomsett’s Dajean Surely A Star. Correct size and nice outline with good topline and underline, well angulated front and rear, lovely reach of neck allowing for good head carriage. Decent head with dark eyes and strong jaw. Once settled moved well. In good coat and condition. 2 Salisbury’s Pennywave Nosey Parker At Brocklewood JW. Close up to first with typical head properties, nicely balanced outline in profile, good ribbing and topline and also in good harsh jacket. Preferred the angulation of first. Moved freely.

OD (2) 1 Tomsett’s Dajean Surely A Star. See LD.

VD (1) 1 Black’s Ch Bassodon Westwood. Superb 9 yr dog of obvious quality in fabulous condition and still showing like a dog half his age! Super size, substance and balanced outline. Plenty of neck, good forechest, ribbing, strong loin, firm topline and good clearance beneath. Correct front and rear assembly allowed him to move with a good length of stride driving well from behind, accurate out and back. Attractive head properties and intelligent expression. Won BD with plenty to spare but the heat didn’t help him in the final challenge for BOB where the bitch was still firing on all cylinders. BD, BOS, BV.

PB (3, 1) 1 Kirkwood-Emery’s Helydon Penelope Pitstop TAF. Delightful baby who was a little overawed by the occasion but settled enough to show off her lovely make and shape. Compact outline with correct length of body, good reach of neck, well developed body for age and firm topline. Attractive head of good proportions with dark eye. Moved soundly with good drive from the rear. Lovely baby. BP. 2 Peek & Peek-Matar’s Whiteorchard Tiggy Winkle Of Milkwood. Correct size and typical outline with good clearance. Nice head and expression and in lovely condition. Not the coat texture of first at present.

YB (1) 1 Mills’ Oniasid Tart Tatin. 21 month old with good length of body, decent front and rear angulation, good topline and tail carriage. Sweet face with dark eyes and dense pigment. Underline could be better. Not in the harshest coat.

PGB (7, 1) 1 Kirkwood-Emery’s Helydon Nifty Nairn JW. Two and a half yr old who was my BP last time I judged the breed and I was delighted to see how she’d matured. A neat little package with good substance, lovely forechest and ribbing, good topline and underline, good front and rear angles. Feminine head with correctly shaped dark eyes, nicely finished muzzle and strong jaw. Smart little mover with good drive, accurate coming and going and covering the ground with ease. A touch careless with her tail at times but it didn’t detract from the overall package. Presented in a quality wire coat and well muscled condition. Handled perfectly in the challenge by her young handler to take BB and then BOB. 2 Walker’s Dexidax Whistling Dixie. Sweet little girl with pretty head, dark eye and dense pigment. Typical outline with good topline and underline, good forechest and ample reach of neck. Moved well holding her outline firm. 3 Macfarlan’s Bassodon Minerva.

LB (3) 1 Macfarlan Granhoward Lilly. Very nice type and balanced shape, good forechest, topline, length of neck and clearance beneath. Feminine head of good length with correctly shaped eye and well placed ears. Moved well, just a little close going away. 2 Walker’s Dexidax Whistling Dixie. See PGB. 3 Crow’s Martinks Drives You Dotty.

OB (3) 1 Dance’s Ch Emem Summer Sunshine JW. Another bitch of super quality and not surprised to see she has her title. In super coat and condition, displaying a smart outline in profile with perfect topline, correct underline, good forechest and ribbing and well constructed rear. Good length of head with strong jaw and dark eyes. Moving out with good drive, covering the ground with ease, head high and topline firm. Very close up in the challenge, just preferred the more compact frame of the post grad b. RBB. 2 Black’s Bassodon Dodecahedron. Really nice bitch who unfortunately wasn’t in her best clothes on the day!! Very soundly constructed all through with a neat, well balanced shape and good angulation. Super head and expression and a smart, effortless mover. 3 Crow’s Compania Pandora.

VB (1) 1 Crow’s Compania Pandora. 8 yr old in lovely condition with feminine head. Good length of body, forechest, firm topline and strong rear. Moved happily. Sp Beg B (1) 1 Crow’s Compania Pandora. See VB.
