I should like to thank the committee and members for deciding to hold this show indoors within airy shedding, so avoiding the dangerous temperatures without. My thanks to my patient steward Phil Rollinson for keeping things running smoothly. It was an interesting and enjoyable experience to judge this sizeable entry in the UK for the first time. These are my general impressions.

Size was apparently largely within limit, movement was widely sound with very few exceptions, coats came in a variety of styles and densities but almost none very soft, a very few chances were spoilt with shyness (not assisted I’m sure by long term absence of shows), condition of almost all the entry was good and fit. Overall I found a broad range of ground clearance, just one or two too low, a fair number rather in excess of the KC Standard – which personally I find is erring on the better side. I found a wide disparity in heads, and I have to say that there were comparatively few absolutely typical in terms of skull shape and strength/length of muzzle. Round eyes were more in evidence than the desired almond shaped.

I was very pleased to find winners who stood out in type and made my task a pleasure.

Veteran D or B  1.Mr P & Mrs N F Price SAMLANE BELLEZA B. 7 year old, nicely balanced proportions, exc head with strong long muzzle, nice shape to topline, good depth carried well back, moving v well in front, a little close behind.
