Thank you for my invitation to judge. Sadly we were in a ring which was rather uneven with long coarse grass and some coped with it better than others. Weather was rather unpredictable too. Disappointed that there were quite a few creeping towards toyishness and losing proper hound type. Was pleased with my main winners and thank you for entering. Thank you to my stewards Karan and Michael.
Veteran – (1,0) 1st Feetham – Kimbleholm Jackpot – BV Smart little chap, full of running and moving well in all directions. Nice size and well proportioned. Held his topline on the move. Keel could be longer and a better layback of shoulder would be preferred. Masculine head but would like a little more length to his muzzle. Balanced angulation fore and aft. Presented in good coat and well handled.
Puppy Dog – (2,0) 1st Fulton – Bothlyn Trail Blaze – BP Smart young puppy. Presented very well as always from this kennel. Good harsh coat. Prominent prosternum. Nice size. Dark eye and masculine head. Better length of keel than 2nd and moved better coming. Ribbing carried well back. Good topline and sweeping underline. Good tail set. 2nd Black – Bothlyn Back In Black Bassadon Larger and rangier than 1st. Prefered his more houndy head. Very harsh coat. Moved out well with confidence but a little close coming towards me. Unfortunately the confidence also gave him a very ‘happy’ tail which he carried quite high.
Junior Dog – (3,1) 1st Kirkwood – Beetlejuice Vitoraz At Helydon (Imp CZE) Proper little hound with correct head and dark eye. Red coat starting to blow, but as with this colour, great pigment. Well laid shoulder and good topline, correct tail set. Well angulated fore and aft. Enough ground clearance but would prefer a longer keel. Smart on the move with correct width going, showing good drive, but a little close in front coming. Considered for RCC. 2nd Corner – Carcorn Fabulous Frank Different type and a little heavy in head for me. Rather heavy across shoulders and undeline cut up too quickly instead of sweeping because he was a little short in keel. Good feet. Nice pigmentation. Fair coat. Movement not so positive as first.
Yearling Dog – (1,0) 1st Thorn Andrews – Drakesleat Gud To Go – RCC Lovely masculine dog with correct head, good dark eye although his undercoat colouring can make his eyes look round, good ear set, strong neck running into well laid shoulders, strong topline held on the move. Correct size. Good keel carried well back. Found the long grass a bit challenging, but still moved well enough to gain RCC.

Limit Dog – (1,0) 1st Corner – Carcorn Fabulous Frank Stood alone but deserved his place. Smart little dog. Harsh jacket, good feet. Masculine head. Decent angulation fore and aft. Ribbing well back. Prefer to see him more settled on the move.
Open Dog – (4,0) 1st Pain – Ravensbeech Buccleeugh – CC & BoB Lovely stallion hound with masculine head, dark eye, good ear set, length to muzzle. Lovely set on to neck, running into well laid shoulders, with correct angulation and good length and return of upper arm. Super topline with strong loin. Prominent forechest with good keel and ribbing carried well back. Strong quarters with short hocks. Well presented in good coat. Moved well around the ring showing accuracy in his steps. CC and BoB – His 3rd I was told. Many congratulations. 2nd Thorn Andrews – Drakesleat Gud Day Sunshine Have seen this dog looking and moving better than today where he seemed to be not at his best. Good size and masculine head. Was roaching a tad on the table. Good coat and well proportioned. Well angulated fore and aft. Moved well in profile and coming but not so well going away. Would like a little more condition on him. 3rd Feetham – Kimbleholm Cazino
Special Beginners – (1,0) 1st Corner – Dragareth Girl at Carcorn A very well presented jacket. Could do with losing a little weight which spoiled his outline a bit. Didn’t cope too well with the long grass and didn’t co-operate with his handler, therefore hard to assess movement. Angulation okay fore and aft.
Puppy Bitch –(6,1) 1st Clements – Springdac Hip Hop Pretty little girl in harsh black and tan jacket. Nice head with good length to muzzle. Good angulation fore and aft. Strong correct topline with matching sweeping underline. Good ribbing. Confident moving for one so young. A very nice puppy. 2nd Stephenson – Bothlyn Sweet Missy at Wistex Feminine girl although I would have preferred a stronger more houndy head. Nicely made with good top and underline although her tail set was a little high. Once she settled her movement was very good. Nicely presented and sympathetically handled. 3rd Clements – Springdac Miss Rhumba
Junior Bitch – (4,0) 1st Russell – Eyez The One Russteck Feminine and well balanced. Good angulation fore and aft. Strong topline which she held on the move. Strong quarters. Good ribbing and correct underline. Moved okay in the long grass. Well presented in good harsh coat. 2nd Kirkwood – Helydon Radiant Rivva Feminine girl with well laid shoulders and good return and length of upper arm. Neck a little low set from shoulders. Topline good but short in keel and cutting up too much today. Moved well in profile but could be more positive going away. Well presented in good harsh jacket. 3rd Feetham – Kimbleholm Mahjong
Yearling Bitch – (1,0) 1st Russell & Graham – Sheez Got It Russteck NIcely proprtioned girl of good size. Feminine head although a little round in eye. Balanced angulation. Good topline, held well, although a little short in keel. Moved well enough from all directions. In good coat, presented and handled well.
Post Graduate Bitch – No Entries
Limit Bitch – (4,0) 1st Sexton – Malloney Noodle Not A Doodle – RCC 2nd Blackburn – Stargang Witches Shadow Two very different types but both very pleasing and of good breed type. Both femine with good heads. Good shoulder placement running into strong toplines. Nice sweeping underlines. Rear angulation correct. Good coats but both just starting to blow. Winner had better ground clearance than second. 3rd Kirkwood – Emery – Helydon Nifty Nairn JW
Open Bitch – (5,2) 1st Thorn Andrews – Ch Drakesleat Too Gud To Be True – CC Feminine and of correct size. Well proportioned head although a tad round in eye. Well balanced with good angulation fore and aft. Strong topline, held well on the move. A real little hound, nothing toyish. 2nd Blackburn – Stargang Sapphire And Steel Many of the same comments apply, but a little lower to ground and a bit unsettled in hind movement. Movement in profile good with good topline which she held on the move. 3rd Feetham – Kimbleholm Taboo
