I was delighted to be invited to judge Mini Wires, and would like to thank the committee, stewards and everyone who entered under me for making it a fantastic day. It was an absolute pleasure being able to judge my own breed, and although I’ve been in mini wires for 25 years I haven’t been able to attend many shows recently so many of the exhibits were new to me. The weather had us moving rings a couple of times, although thats one thing that can never be predicted. Overall I was happy with the standard of dogs and pleased to see the vast majority kept in good shape and hygiene. There were a few that were a little too heavy and some out of coat, and a couple with more nervous temperaments. But I was overall lucky to have some very nice dogs to go over and place, with many fine attributes. Veteran Dog (3,2) 1st: FEETHAM Kimbleholme Jackpot. A good sized dog, well balanced and compact. Correctly proportioned head, well angulated front with tight shoulders and ample width throughout. Good spring and length of rib, short loin, good rear angulation. A little unsettled on the move due to the grass, but displayed good rear drive. BV Puppy Dog (2) 1st: FULTON Bothlyn Trail Blaze. A promising pup. Masculine head with almond eyes. Nicely filled out at the front with good angulation and well placed shoulders. Harsh coat, correct ribbing, excellent rear angulation with a good turn of stifle. Once he got going he moved with drive and was very sound coming and going. Worthy to win BP 2nd: DANCE Emem Solar Power. Lengthy neck. Ok front angulation, good length and spring of rib and rear angulation. Moved round the ring with purpose and a correct topline that was maintained throughout. Overall a sound dog with a fantastic coat, just preferred the front on 1. Junior Dog (2) 1st: KIRKWOOD Beetlejuice Vitoraz at Helydon (Imp Cze). A masculine red dog with correct head proportions and dark almond eyes. Well placed shoulders and tight elbows, correct ribbing thats well developed for his age, good rear angulation and turn of stifle. Well balanced at both front and back, moved ok with a decent stride. 2nd: CORNER Carcorn Fabulous Frank. Correct proportions from muzzle to skull, dark almond eyes with a good ear set and shape. Lengthy neck that flowed well into the withers, ok front and rear angulation. A little softer of coat, but moved well with purpose. Limit Dog (1) 1st: FEETHAM Kimbleholme Jenga. A nice masculine boy with a good size and weight. Dark almond eyes, good front angulation with well laid back shoulders. Correct topline and underline that were maintained throughout, excellent rear angulation. He had his head down a little on the move, but created a very pleasing outline when stood. Open Dog (4) 1st: THORN ANDREWS Drakesleat Gud to Go. Excellent head with an intelligent expression, dark almond eyes. Well arched neck that flowed smoothly into an excellent front, correctly placed shoulders and a harsh coat. Correctly angulated at the front and rear, moved around the ring with drive and a lengthy stride. Nice size with good construction and a very pleasing outline. RDCC 2nd: RUSSELL Russteck Romeo. A nice black and tan boy who powered round the ring with drive and purpose. Masculine head and a lengthy neck, ok front angulation. Level topline that was maintained throughout, excellent rear angulation with a good turn of stifle. Overall a very nice boy with lots of pleasing qualities. 3rd: FEETHAM Kimbleholme Cazino Champion Dog (2) 1st: KIRKWOOD-EMERY Ch Helydon Laird Loki JW. A very well proportioned dog with good construction. Ample forechest with excellent angulation, well sprung ribs with a short loin. Well angulated at the rear, flawless underline and topline that were maintained throughout. Moved perfectly round the ring, showing confidence with correct reach in front and excellent drive behind. A worthy winner for the DCC. 2nd: THORN ANDREWS Ch Drakesleat Ivor Notion. Another excellent dog who I very much liked. Masculine head with dark almond eyes, a strong front with well laid shoulders and ample forechest. Well ribbed, good angulation at the rear, he was so sound coming and going, moving fantastically with good reach at the front and drive behind. Minor Puppy Bitch (3,1) 1st: STEPHENSON Bothlyn Sweet Missy at Wistex Feminine head, front is well developed for her age with correctly placed shoulders and feet. Ample width throughout with a good amount of ribbing, moving to a strong rear with fantastic angulation. Lost her topline slightly on the move although overall a well constructed young pup. 2nd: MARSTON TEAL Lordscairnie Endless Love. Compact bitch free from exaggerations. Correctly proportioned head with almond eyes, Ok front, well sprung ribs reaching back well into a short loin, good topline and underline. She was a little better on the move than 1, I just preferred the front on 1. Puppy Bitch (2) 1st: KIRKWOOD-EMERY Helydon Radiant Rivva. Another promising young pup, Correct head proportions and dark eye, tidy front with well placed shoulders. Correct ribbing, an excellently angulated rear with a good turn of stifle.
