As a substitute Judge I found a small but overall tidy
entry with some quality hounds, to which I was happy to award top honours.
MPD (1) 1 Beach & Partridge’s Cardaxians Bambam Baby. Houndy, brindle of 6
months, still sorting his baby teeth out and raw, but presented a decent
outline. Excels in head, coat in super order and well presented. Moved
soundly and with purpose. Well up to size, hope he doesn’t grow much more.
B.P.D. PD (1) 1 Howells’ Fallowmill Time Traveller. Smart Brindle dog, super
head and eye. Correct bite. Needs to settle in topline and running up behind
today. Well up to size. PGD (2) 1 Kirkwood’s Beetlejuice Vitoraz at Helydon
(Imp Czech). Red dog who scores in head with plenty of foreface and super
eye. A bit narrow in front and cuts up on the move somewhat, but he moved
with drive and purpose. 2 Gilkes and Storton’s Dereheath Shaken Not Stirred
At Birichino. Smaller and lower to ground than 1. Could have more upperarm
and needing to settle in topline here. OD (2) 1 Dance’s Ch. Emem Solar Power
J.W. Really smart and well presented brindle in rock hard condition, with
super bone and substance. He has great reach of neck and well placed
shoulders. Is well ribbed up and really used his powerful rear to drive
round the ring with a firm topline. Pleased to award him the C.C. 2 Thorn
Andrews & Billinghurst’s Ch. Drakesleat Kumquat May. Smart and houndy
brindle dog of fab make and shape. My notes say ‘”neat and tidy all through”
and he is. Super head, tidy front and well placed shoulders with correct
length and depth of rib. Well made hind assembly which he could have used
more here. Nevertheless, a super dog and pleased to award him the R.C.C. MPB
(1) 1 Dance’s Emem Hazel Sunshine. Delightful, raw baby who has it all to
come. Has yet to finish in head but is so well made all through and is
brimming with promise. Moved with great enthusiasm and confidence keeping
her topline, just needs to sort her brakes and steering! Once she does
she’ll be hard to get past. PB (3,1) 1 Thorn Andrews Drakesleat See No Evil.
Beautiful, dark brindle bitch of lovely type. Not overly long and nothing
overdone. She is extremely correct and in hard condition. Super head, reach
of neck and correct shoulders. Neat front with tight elbows, well ribbed and
super hind assembly. Moved soundly and with drive, close up for R.C.C.
Pleased to award her B.P. 2 Howells’ Fallowmill Story Time. Lighter brindle
bitch, well presented and in super condition. Lower to ground than 1 but
moved so well here. Losing her topline here, but gave a good account of
herself. PGB (5) 1 Jones’ Bimini To the Moon & Back. Smart and neat brindle,
typical of this kennel, who scored in movement here to win this class with a
bit to spare. 2 Kirkwood’s Helydon Quickstep Queenie. Dark brindle of lovely
type, well presented and so well made. She just would not move as I’m sure
she can when in the mood. 3 Gilkes’ Dereheath Just the Tonic At Birichino.
LB (2) 1 Smith’s Alncroft Ida Zire. What a find! Absolutely tip top brindle
bitch of lovely type. Beautifully presented in hard condition with not a
hair out of place – and handled so well by her young owner, who got every
last ounce out of her unobtrusively and in an understated manner. Fabulous
head with dark, almond, eye; super reach of neck and layback of shoulder.
Correct front, ribbing and strong hindquarters which she used to cruise
round the ring with ease, keeping her topline at all times. One to be proud
of. No hesitation in awarding her the B.C.C. and later B.O.B. 2 Mills’
Middleton Hunt at Oniasidyy. Red bitch of different type but very smart
nonetheless. Super mover and no disgrace to stand behind 1. OB (4) 1 Thorn
Andrews’ Ch. Drakesleat Too Gud To Be True. Really classy brindle, typical
of the type consistently produced by this clever breeder. Classic head &
eye, neat front, well placed shoulders. Super length and spring of rib,
strong loin and well angulated rear. Put down to the minute in hard
condition, she moved soundly but lost out to 1 on her drive. Pleased to
award her the R.B.C.C. 2 Dance’s Emem Letty Bee Sunshine J.W. Cracking
brindle bitch, different type to 1 but a good one. Classy head, plenty of
neck with well placed shoulders. Super ribbing and strong loin, preferred
rear of 1. Moved soundly with drive. 3 Jones’ Bimini Chasing Moonbeams
