Thank you to the committee for inviting me
to judge today and to my very efficient stewards.
I was very impressed with the quality but sadly a huge variation in
weights from all classes which ranged from 6lbs to 16lbs and all through
the ages.
I was delighted with my main winners all showing super quality, movement
and ideal weights.
Puppy Dog (1,0)
1st STEPHENSON & STEPHENSON - Bothlyn Mr Zeus at Wistex -BP
Very handsome boy. Super head, correct eye shape, good pigment and
mouth, nice fill under eye, strong underjaw. Front developing nicely,
good length of keel, ribbing carried well back, topline a little too
flat lacking the strength of loin just now and a little long a hock.
Lovely movement in profile and coming. Good coat.
Junior Dog (3,0)
1st SEXTON & DASILVA - Molloney Woody or Won't He at Ertekes – RCC
Very masculine, handsome head showing correct planes, almond eyes, dark
pigment and super expression, nicely filled under eye and decent
underjaw. Elegant through neck, nicely angulated shoulders with balanced
rear, nice width of 2nd thigh. Deep through chest, brisket filled, ribs
carried well back and lengthy keel. Feet super. Harsh coat. Moved well
in all directions with presence, handled and presented beautifully.
2nd BLACKBURN - Stargang Plutonium
I personally prefer the breed type of this male, quality head, lovely
almond eye, correct ear set. Elegant neck, pleasing front, prefer a
slightly longer keel, topline good. Nicely angulated rear but lacking a
little strength in 2nd thigh. Nice on the move in profile and coming.
Super coat.
3rd WHITING – Zoldmali-Hunter Athos at Cragvallie (Imp HU) NAF (Imp)
Post Graduate Dog (2,0)
1st FULTON - Bothlyn Trail Blaze
Handsome male of good breed type, head classic and pleasing, good eye
shape and ear set, dark pigment. Elegant through neck, shoulders
pleasing with good length of upper arm. Well sprung ribcage with ribs
carried well back, nice long keel, prominent prosternum, strong over
loin. Balanced rear, tail set ok. Good height to length ratio. Very
smart on the move.
2nd STEWART - Genlusa Mini Duxi TAF
A heavier dog. Good breed type. Head masculine and pleasing, a little
round in eye. Strong neck, shoulders very pleasing but unbalanced to
rear which could have been better. A little too short in croup and too
long at hock, a stronger 2nd though would help to tighten rear movement.
Ribs carried well back, keel fairly long, strong over loin. Topline good
and underline smart. He moved well in profile and coming but a little
untidy going away. I would have preferred his coat to have been worked
more by hand to keep him tight and crisp.
Open Dog (4 ,1)
1st THORN ANDREWS - Drakesleat Gud Day Sunshine – CC
The most handsome of males, masculine head, dark eyes of almond shape,
ear set pleasing, super planes, fill under eye and width of underjaw.
Neck elegant and strong, shoulders text book, prominent prosternum and
correct length of keel, ribs carried well back, strong deep lion.
Pleasing length of 1st and 2nd thigh which was muscled. Hock well let
down. Good feet. Super coat. True coming and going and effortless in
profile.
2nd KIRKWOOD-EMERY & KIRKWOOD-EMERY - Ch Helydon Laird Loki JW
Another very handsome male, elegant head, pleasing eye shape and colour,
ear set correct, prefer a slightly stronger underjaw. Elegant through
neck, correctly angulated front and rear, good width of 2nd thigh. Nice
oval ribcage, ribs carried well back, pleasing length of keel. Enough
bone, good feet. Super on the move in all directions. Coat smart and
harsh. Presented beautifully. Very smart male.
3rd MILWARD – Ding Din Don Klara Difino (IMP SVN)
Special Beginners Dog - (1,0)
1st MILWARD - Ding Din Don Klara Difino (IMP SVN)
Small male, nice head, eye shape and ear set. Shoulders well angulated
but too straight behind.
I found it hard to access this hound as he was quite sharp and nervy.
Didn’t settle on the move either.
Good Citizen Dog - NO ENTRIES
Puppy Bitch (5,0)
First 3 of very different types. I preferred things about all of them.
It’s a hard age to access as we all know they can be all over the place.
4th and 5th were far too sharp, nervous and thin with coats needing
attention.
1st WHITEHOUSE - Gralinn Sunshine Dancer
Smart bitch, pleasing head, good pigment, mouth, ear set and eye shape.
Neck a little stuffy, but shoulders to fall back which will shorten her
topline a little. Underline was ok. Plenty of bone, but a little flat
footed just now. Ribs carried well back, loin strong. Tail set pleasing.
She moved well in all directions. Just needs time to blossom.
2nd WOODVINE-SHONE - Hanishan Ringing Tones
Nice head, ear placement, eye shape and correct mouth. Neck elegant and
shoulder angulation was pleasing and back in place. Slightly deeper in
chest than 1st and 3rd, keel long enough but a little too compact in
body for me. A little long at hock creating untidy movement going away
but pleasing coming towards. Again, needs a little time to mature and
finish.
3rd WEARING - Zoldmali-Hunter Chiffon at Genlusa
Beautiful red, amazing pigment and expression. Good eye shape, ears
nice. Deep in chest, shoulder angulation pleasing but to fall back. Ribs
well back, strong over loin, topline nice, underline correct, a little
too low to ground for me. If her rear movement was tighter she would
have won the class.
Junior Bitch (2,0)
1st RUSSELL – Russteck Cordelia
Not my type but smart bitch, head pleasing, almond eyes, ear set
correct, mouth correct. Elegant through neck, shoulders well angulated,
nice length of upper arm. Keel long, prominent prosternum, ribs carried
well back. A little too weak in loin for me, tail set on quite high.
Good width of second thigh. Needs time to mature. Presented in beautiful
coat of harsh texture. Moved well in profile and coming.
2nd STEPHENSON - Bothlyn Sweet Missy at Wistex
More my type of hound, pleasing head, prefer a little more substance
though. Good length of neck, shoulders correctly angulated. Long keel.
Prefer ribs to be carried back more and needs to strengthen over loin.
Nice coming and in profile, a little untidy going away. Presented in
good harsh coat. Handled well.
Post Graduate Bitch (7,1)
1st STEPHENSON - Wistex Taking It Easy – RCC
Super breed type. Feminine head but in no way weak. Strong underjaw,
almond eyes of good colour, nice fill under eye, ear set pleasing.
Elegant through neck, shoulders well angulated showing good length of
upper arm, keel long, prominent prosternum, ribcage oval and of good
length, loin strong and deep. Very pleasing rear, strong and of correct
angulation, super 2nd thigh. Tail set good. Feet well padded. Cannot
complain about her at all. Super on the move in all directions. Coat
tight and harsh, well handled and presented.
2nd KIRKWOOD - Helydon Quickstep Queeni
Nice old-fashioned type, classic head, good eye shape, ear placement and
width of under jaw. Neck strong, front pleasing, super length of keel
and prominent prosternum. Topline and underline spot on. Strong over
loin. Hindquarters strong, well muscles and compact, correct angulation.
Lovely on the move. Presented in good harsh coat. I would prefer a
fraction more ground clearance. Pleasure to judge.
3rd WHITEHOUSE - Rioban Trinket
Smart bitch, very dark and pleasing head. Good fill under eye. Shoulder
angulation correct, good length of keel. Plenty of bone. A little out of
balance H-L ration, could be a little longer. A little loose in rear
movement. Smart hound, presented in good coat and condition.
Limit Bitch (5,1)
1st RUSSELL – Eyez The One Russteck
If only I had another CC or RCC to hand out. I really adored this bitch.
Stunning head, eye shape super, pigment pleasing, good fill under eye,
nice width of muzzle. Neck strong, shoulders textbook, keel long, ribs
well sprung and carried back, strong over loin. Rear is beautifully
angulated, super 2nd thigh, hock well let down, correct feet. Topline
and underline spot on. Stacked I couldn’t fault her at all, movement was
very correct in all directions. I genuinely had 3 girls I could have
awarded the CC too and she was the 3rd. A super bitch. Pleasure to
judge.
2nd SEXTON – Molloney Noodle Not A Doodle
Very nice bitch, super head, eye shape, pigment and fill under eye,
prefer a slightly stronger underjaw. Very elegant in neck, shoulders
correct, keel nice and long, prominent prosternum. Ribs deep and carried
well back, short and strong loin. Rear pleasing, good 2nd thigh, hocks
well let down. Topline and underline spot on. In super coat and hard
condition. Very unfortunate to meet 1st today who just out moved her in
profile.
3rd CLARKE, FULTON & FULTON – Jolanda Uptown Girl At Bothlyn
Open Bitch (5,0)
1st THORN ANDREWS - Ch Drakesleat Too Gud to be True – CC & BoB
The most beautiful bitch, super breed type, real quality and elegant.
Classic head, correctly shaped dark eyes with super expression, pleasing
pigment. Beautiful set on from back of skull to neck. Shoulders well
back and correctly angulated. Prominent prosternum, long keel, ribs deep
and carried well back, strong deep loin, rear totally in balance with
shoulders, strong second thigh. Feet correct and well padded. Topline
and underline textbook. True coming and going and effortless in profile.
Harsh jacket. Very balanced, good hard condition. Real pleasure to
judge.
2nd BLACKBURN – Ch Stargang Witches Shadow
I love this type of head, slightly aquiline, darkest of pigment and eye
colour, eye shape correct, ears well placed, super expression. Beautiful
set on from back of skull to neck. Shoulders well angulated. Keel a
little shorter than 1st. A little too long in topline for me and untidy
on the move going away, but pleasing coming towards. Super coat.
3rd KIRKWOOD - Helydon Magical Mika
Veteran Bitch - NO ENTRIES
Special Beginners Bitch (5,1)
1st MCINTOSH - Ceffylmor Ardanberg
Smart bitch, classic head, pleasing eye shape and colour, good mouth,
correct ear placement. Good length of neck, pleasing shoulder angulation,
prefer a slightly longer upper arm. Good length of keel and prominent
prosternum. Good length of ribbing, topline and underline correct. Nice
rear with good width of 2nd thigh. Pleasing to see her handler move her
calmly and in a super rhythm, keeping balanced on the corners. Pleasure
to judge and award Best Special Beginner.
2nd MILWARD – Pierscapes Betty Boop
3rd MILWARD – Pierscapes Matilda May
Both very hard to access, very nervous and sharp on the table, could
both benefit from more weight and attention to coat with some ring craft
experience. They certainly moved a little better this time being
slightly more settled on the go around. It would be nice to see these
hounds again in the future with improvements as I am sure their handlers
could have fun with them, so don’t be disheartened, it just takes lots
of work, don’t be afraid to ask fellow exhibitors for help and advice.
