SCOTTISH DACHSHUND CLUB BEST OF BREED
16th June 2024
Judge Fay Hutchings (Collidach)
Thank you to the Scottish Dachshund Club for your invite to judge at your show, I really enjoyed my day, and had a lovely entry to go over. Unfortunately the weather gods were not kind and although we started outside in drizzle it soon turn into heavy rain and we had to retreat inside, A lot of the dogs didn’t not like the rain and moving inside the grass was very long and lots didn’t handle it so well. I’m sure placements may have been different on a different day.
Heads were ok, although still not the almond eye shape I was looking for in lots. Decent Upper arms and correct fronts was lacking. Movement was difficult to assess. Presentation on the whole was great, and some softer coats was in the minority. Thank you for your entries and your sportsmanship, and the applauds on the day. And a big thank you to my steward who did a fab job.

Lovely to see this Wild Boar chap again, I gave him a CC a few back, love him, super coated, beautifully presented, loved his head and eye shape, Nice hindquarters and good ribbing. Moved out well, considered again for top honours today, just had to give way to the younger boys on the day.
2nd: FEETHAM Kimbleholme Jackpot
Wild Boar Dog, Nicely presented to coat, could do with more weight for his advantage as he looked a little cut up under neath. Moved out well back and forth and in profile.

Litter brothers, 4 Months old. Both Wild Boar, little to choose between them, both had lovely quarters, lovely heads and eye shape and good feet. Super temperments. 2nd just lost out on the move today, as 1st kept a better topline. Im sure will swap places.
2nd: FOLEY Bimini Alfie Moon at Clavennae
As above.

Nice headed boy, with a decent front. Looks a lovely shape stacked. Coat was well presented, but could be a little harsher. Had lovely hindquarters, moves out well in profile. But was moving a little wide behind today. Although I don’t think the wet grass helped. BPD
Junior Dog (1)
1st: JONES Kimbleholme Blitz
Larger built Wild Boar lad, Lovely
harsh coat, could do with a little tidy. Lovely front and decent hindquarters,
Moving a little all over the place when moving and not handling grass too well,
but good when settled in parts.
Post Graduate Dog (2)
1st: FULTON Bothlyn Trail Blaze
Lovely shape, more compact wild Boar boy, Nice head and eye shape, beautifully coated and well presented, Enough front, and moved out well, front and back and in profile.
2nd:KENT Barratini Du Beke At Lokmadi
Lovely Red lad, taller type than 1st,
lovely head and eye shape, good muscular neck, decent front construction, just
preferred the hindquarters of the 1st. but a close decision.
Limit Dog (4)
1st: SEXTON & DASILVA Molloney Woody Or Won't He At Ertekes
Very much a type I like, lovely head and eye shape, (although could be a shade darker) A decent front and correct upper arm. Well ribbed, Moved out the best in this class and ultimately in the challenge, awarding him the Dog CC, his 3rd.
2nd: BLACKBURN Stargang Plutonium
A lovely shaped dapple Boy, again one
I liked very much, nice head and eye, beautifully presented. Very nice male who
should make up, just moving wide today, another victim of the wet grass I feel.
3rd: KIRKWOOD Beetlejuice Vitoraz at Helydon (Imp Cze)

A worthy champion, Wild Boar dog, Beautifully presented, nice head and eye, enough front, lovely quarters both front and back, again moved out well, but didn’t handle the grass as well as the limit winner on the day, close call. RCC
2nd: BLACK Bothlyn Back In Black Bassodon
Wild Boar dog, Decent front, correct
ribbing, good hindquarters, although longer in hocks than 1st. Moved
out ok, but didn’t like the wet grass, as the disgust on his face told, and
losing his topline on the move.
Special Beginner Dog or Bitch (2)
1st: SIEMINSKI Dajean Surely a Vision
Really sweet small red girl, Lovely head and eyeshape, Nicely presentd coat which was of harsh texture, Loved her on the move, could do with a little more weight to benefit her.
2nd: ROSE Barratini Song And Dance With Rosencrantz
Super coated red girl, Nice head and
eye shape, decent front and good hindquarters, didn’t move as well as 1st
on the day, could lose a little weight to benefit, both outline and movement.
moving wide behind.
Minor Puppy Bitch (1)
1st: KILROY Rozelle Rosalie at Janacop
Very pretty red girl, Loved her type,
nice hind quarters and front assembly correct. moved out with purpose and really
well in the long grass. although slightly losing her topline in profile, which
was the deciding factor for BPB as it was very close.
Puppy Bitch (3,1)
1st: MILLS- JONES Carlita Jellie Baby
Gorgeous head and eye shape on this promising Wild Boar girl, Lovely feet, well ribbed. Really covered the ground moving out with drive from behind showing her pads. Coat well presented. Kept her topline on the move which clinched her BPB and BPIB
2nd: KILROY Do Smarties at Janacop
Wild Boar, Good head, Decent neck, would like more front. Not the bone of 1st, moved out well both ways and in profile, topline was lost a little both standing and moving, just needs to settle into it.
Junior Bitch (5,1)
1st: KIRKWOOD Helydon Vexy Vixen
Really sweet little Wild Boar girl, Lovely mover both front and back and in profile, handling the grass really well, Super coated and well presented. Would prefer more front.
2nd: SIEMINSKI Dajean Surely a Vision
As Special Beginner, just preferred the shape of 1st.

Loved this young girl and pushed her kennel mate all the way. Super coated Wild Boar Girl who was beautifully presented, nice head and good eyeshape. Loved her hindquarters and lovely front construction. Lovely mover who moved out with Drive from behind and reach in front. Her day will come. RCC
2nd: MCDERMOTT Bardot's Brigitte (Imp Swe)
Loved the head and eye shape on this
Wild Boar Girl, Moved out really well, both front and back and in profile. Good
feet, well presented and lovely in coat, just lost out to 1 on the move.

A lovely class.
1st: DANCE Emem Autumnal Sunshine JW
Loved this girl from nose to tail, Gorgeous shape, Super presentation, as all from this kennel, Harsh coated Wild Boar, Super neck leading into correct shoulders and correct front. Lovely hindquarters and underline. Moved out with reach and drive as did her Kennel Mate from PG who pushed her all the way. A champion in the making, which isn’t far away a way I feel, her 2nd CC and BOB
2nd:FEETHAM Kimbleholme Hoola
Wild boar Girl, Placed on her
movement, Lovely head and eye shape, Good front and decent hindquarters. A
little tidying of coat would benefit, but it was a good harsh texture, Liked
her very much.
3rd: BLACKBURN Stargang Sapphire And Steel
Open Bitch (4,1)
1st: STEPHENSON Wistex Taking It Easy
Nice head, and such good reach of neck on this girl, Very smart Wild Boar girl with lovely presented coat, Loved her on the move which was precise. Good ribbing, just enough front. Lovely happy temperament. Another who pushed hard all the way.
2nd: WHITEHOUSE Ir Ch Gralinn Sunshine Dancer
Wild Boar, lovely head and eye, lovely hindquarters, good reach of neck and front construction. Super coated and well presented. Again moved really well, but the enthusiasm of 1st.
