Good Citizen Dog Scheme Bitch NO ENTRIES
My thanks to society for their kind invitation to judge this breed and to the exhibitors for their lovely entry and great sporting response to my class decisions. Thanks also to my super-efficient stewards Paige & Robert.
I always judge the dogs as presented to me on the day, take care in my handling of every exhibit and give each and every exhibit the same consideration.
An overall observation of the breed on this examination – I would say size is now very varied, from the correct miniature size & weight to some very rangy exhibits and some badly overweight! On a point of construction, my main criticism would be hind movement and a lot of non-parallel actions behind. Some had great drive rather than tummy tapping but a lot were ‘pinning in’ behind. Lots of good strong prosternum’s and some lovely ribbing and underlines. Presentation was overall very good with only a minority of exhibits with poor soft coats.
Minor Puppy Dog (2,0)
1. Hunt’s Earthsea’s Santa Paws – Very promising silver dapple of a correct size. Correct front construction, decent prosternum & a nice overall balance for a youngster just needs to strengthen behind and use his nicely angulated hindquarters.
2. Fitzherbert Stewart & Tomsett’s Dajean Spanish Gold with Ottateck – Good sound red of a rangier and larger size to winner. Plenty of ground clearance and will need to fill out and drop into his frame. One for the future I would say but sound all round and held a good balanced outline on the move,

1. Thorn Andrews Drakesleat Gud News – Lovely wild boar of a correct size. Great head shape, super eye and an excellent strong jaw. Masculine head into a great neck and super shoulders and sound quality front with great angulation. Looked super on the stack just rising a little more than I would like over the loin but still maturing and when fully strengthened behind will ‘sit-in’ to his well angulated hindquarters. Another very promising puppy. BPD
2. Grant’s Bingobongo’s Dodge at Granhoward – Nicely coated Black & Tan of a taller type. Another that will benefit from time and on the day was very unsettled so was difficult to assess properly. Moved wide behind but that could have been due to not being happy on the day.
Junior Dog (4,0)
1. Tomsett’s Sandanca Cosmos at Dajean – Very smart wild boar of 14 months. Correct for size, excellent in front and great shoulder placement. Nice length of ribbing and shortish loin. Correctly angulated hindquarters, strong and parallel, used to produce great drive behind. Always held a lovely balanced outline. A standout winner who should go on to do very well.
2. Maagri’s Gilcoru Luigi Rozamie – another very smart youngster, on the day not as assured or confident as winner but liked him a lot. Super sound throughout and another exhibit that used correctly constructed hindquarters with purpose, had real drive. Super outline on the stack.
3. Foley’s Bimini Alfie Moon at Clavannae.
Yearling Dog (1,0)
1. Jones’ Ch. Bimini Song Sung Blue JW – Super wild Boar of 21 months. A lovely picture of balance, correctly constructed throughout. Excelled in super chunky well-muscled hindquarters used to great effect on the move and in a natural, balanced stack. Lovely head and expression, correct eye shape and dark. Lovely his stylish head carriage showing a great neck and smooth transition into well laid-back shoulders. Pushed the CC winner very hard in the challenge but beaten on the day just on drive from behind. A lovely dog & a very worthy champion. Res C.C.
Post Graduate Dog (2,0)
1. Sieminski’s Dallandor Burdock JW – A sound, good quality exhibit of 15 months. For me a little too much of him but balanced. Good coat texture. Moved with good reach but a little weaker behind. Handled well to make the most of him.
2. Lindfield’s Nigel Nu at Zabannah – 3-year-old of a good size and outline. Was not settled on the day and so did not make the best of himself. I’m sure on a different day these two could swap places.
Limit Dog (4,0)
1. Howells Fallowmill Time Traveler – Wild Boar of lovely proportions and balance. Had real flowing hound lines and I loved his head and super strong clean neckline. Strong prosternum and well-constructed front girdle. Just needed to be encouraged a little more in the challenge to show off his stylish outline. Moved well and an exhibit of excellent breed type.
2. Kent’s Barratini Du Beke at Lokmadi – Shaded red of a good type and sound correct mover. Good shoulder placement and well angulated hindquarters. Quite a tight decision between these two boys, just preferred the stronger prosternum and flowing lines of winner.
Open Dog (1,0)
1. Corominas Ch. Almarxils Diego for Ruichango JW (Imp Esp) – stand out clear red of 2 years.
Holds a beautifully flowing outline both on the move and in the natural stack. Lovely head and darkest of eye. Super flowing neckline into well laid shoulders. Ribbing carried well back. Super hind angulation and lovely turn of stifle. Moved quite easily the best of all on the day with great reach and strong drive behind. In super hard condition with a harsh correct coat, presented beautifully and handled to get the best from him. Quite the showman - stood alone in this class but such a stunning dog was an easy winner of the CC & later BOB against strong opposition. I read that my best puppy was sired by him so I hope his fresh bloodlines will help to improve quality within the breed. CC& BOB.
Veteran Dog (1,0)
1. Bruty’s Jantar Wild Horses (Imp Pol) – 9 years wild boar of a good type and balanced outline. Moved correctly fore and aft.

1. Tomsett’s Dajean Spanish Eyes – Very smart and elegant correctly constructed 8-month puppy having her first outing. Of a correct size and super build. Great front and shoulders, nice head and eye, lovely neck into super strong topline. Good length of ribbing, short loin and super angulation behind. Although a little erratic at times on the move showed a great set of pads from behind which impressed me a lot. Best Puppy bitch & BP
Puppy Bitch (2,0)
1. Hunt’s Earthsea’s Rose Crystal – Wild Boar of a good size and nice construction – good strong prosternum and nicely placed shoulders good feet and nicely angulated hindquarters. On the day was a little hesitant but out moved the opposition to win the class.
2. Lindfield’s Zabannah Firestarter – Clear red of a larger rangier type. Elegant outline but would prefer more bone. Giving her handler a bit of a hard time on the day, will fill and improve with age.
Junior Bitch (6,1)
A lovely class full of quality.
1. Jones’ Bimini Moonlight – 16 months Wild Boar of correct size and super outline. Well balanced throughout with correct front construction and super shoulder placement. Moved well, holding a lovely outline at all times. Must be destined for the top honors.
2. O’Connell’s Almarxils Flamenco Dancer at Llennocor – super red of a size and type that is spot on. Very well balanced throughout and both on the stack and on the move had a beautiful outline – one of the best on the day but unfortunately didn’t like the wind, weather and noisy outdoor tent conditions which meant she did not show to her full potential.
3. Dance’s Emem Joyful Sunshine.
Yearling Bitch (2,1)
1. Blackburn’s Stargang Aurora – lovely silver dapple of 19 months. Super shape with lovely flowing hound lines. Good head and strong underjaw, elegant reach of neck, correct lay of shoulder into super top and underline. Great angulation behind but not the parallel hind movement I would like to see.
Post Graduate Bitch (7,0)
1. Howells Fallowmill Story Time – very smart wild boar of super type with great flowing lines. Strong prosternum, good head and reach of neck, lovely underline, quality coat and nicely angulated hindquarters used well and accurately on the move. A very smart exhibit.
2. Crossman & Kennedy’s Moonshe Maybe – Lovely B/T of a smaller type but correct throughout and had good substance. Proof that it is possible to breed a standard in miniature! Lovely lines throughout and correct angles in the shoulder and hindquarters. Moved well with true action in front and behind. Just preferred the reach and drive of the winner.
3. Sieminski’s Dajean Surely a Vision
Limit Bitch (7,2)
Class of great quality.
1. Dance’s Emem Hazel Sunshine JW – Lovely well balance wild boar of overall elegance and style. Good head and eye, nice reach of neck, tight elbows, lovely topline on the stack and on the move. Decent ground clearance. Great mover with strong hindquarters. Won a strong class here.
2. Kirkwood’s Helydon Very Vixen – another of great quality and sound honest construction. A little more cobby than the winner, super wire coat that was very dense. Good sound front with decent prosternum nice tight elbows. Nice outline on the move. Another top flight exhibit.
3. Blackburn’s Stargang Fanfare
Open Bitch (5,1)
1. Kirkwood-Emery’s Ch. Helydon Tartan Talula JW – wild boar of a lovely well-balanced type. Excelled in front, strong correct prosternum, tight elbows, great lay of shoulder giving a strong correct reaching action on the move. Lovely head and expression and a good strong under-jaw and well-fitting teeth. Moved with strong drive from well angulated hindquarters, always holding a beautiful outline. CC
2. Thorn-Andrews Drakesleat Hear No Evil – Another lovely exhibit full of quality. Correct size and type. Lovely head and expression, good reach of neck into well placed shoulders, good ribbing and short loin nicely angulated and moved with drive and purpose. In the challenge just preferred the prosternum and overall balance of the winner on the move. No doubt a well-deserved champion of the future. Res CC
3. Stephenson’s Wistex Taking It Easy
Veteran Bitch (1,0)
1. Stephenson’s Malloney Winnie Tergames at Wistex – Lovely 7.5 yr of super sound construction. Good head and eye. Lovely balanced construction from shoulders to hindquarters. Held a super topline on the move and in free stand. Great hind angulation. Delighted to award Best Veteran in Breed.
Special Beginners Bitch (4,1)
1. Lindfield’s Zabannah Firestarter
2. Brown’s Payched Mulberry Marvel – Correct sized – nice type although needed a bit more strength in bone and substance.
3. Grant’s Earthsea Dixieland Girl
