Thank you for a good numerical entry by today’s standards. This is one of my favourite varieties of Dachshund having owned & lived with them & even making a Champion up. So I do know the challenges of breeding a good one, that said I found this entry a struggle at times to judge, I’m not going to preach the faults & virtues, I’m sure you all know & can see what needs to be done. Size saddened me, just because the scales have gone doesn’t mean this variety should’nt remain ‘Miniature”. We all know they are certainly a big hound in a small package, let’s keep them that way. A few ounces has never phased me but a few pounds takes them to another level & before long we will be judging Midi Dachshunds & not Miniature. Coats & presentation impressed me here & my main winners made me very happy. As you all know I make notes on each individual dog so that I can capture each exhibit at that moment in time, not on any past or future performance. To those who commented on how I hardly touch them on the table, for me this is only to confirm what has attracted my eye on the move to confirm for the right & wrong reasons. I would hope you don’t cauterise me as a ‘Teeth & Tail’ judge, but one who appreciates Type, angulation, confirmation & if we’re lucky a degree of soundness. My notes & placings reflect this. Thank you for your patience, being second in the ring especially behind Min Smooth’s did mean for a long day & I appreciated your support & applause
Puppy Dog (6,1)
1st: HAYWARD Foxearth Frank Zappa, 8 months, loved his type & especially his coat which quite simply was amazing. Very good head & dark almond eye, long well arched neck, very good shoulders, tight elbows on the best of feet, good length of ribbing, good top & underlines, short strong loins, well made quarters, plenty of length in second thigh, strong, short neat hocks. He moved very soundly coming & going, especially for his age, free from exaggeration with enough ground clearance for me, his overall appearance in profile was quite appealing, one that will be very useful to many I would think
2nd: THORN ANDREWS Drakesleat Gud News, 8 month at his first show, no phased & clearly enjoying himself. His head is quite stunning, long well arched neck, shoulders are in the right place, solid topline, short strong loins leading into well made quarters, tail correctly set & wagging, quite precise coming & going for one so young, retains a lovely outline in profile, slightly more length of leg than 1 but uses this to great advantage covering the ground, no doubt he will not only be useful but will make his mark as he matures
3rd: KIRKWOOD-EMERY Helydon Xtra Xpecial
Junior Dog (5)
1st: PRICE Collidach Thomas Tank, Masculine 14 month with the most super coat. Very good head & expression, good strong jaws, long well arched neck which he uses so well on the move, good shoulders, plenty of forechest & width, very good legs & feet, ribbing is well developed & extends well back, tail is correctly set & clear continuation of his rock solid topline. Moves ultra sound in front but a shade untidy going away here. Retains all that is good about him in profile, projecting himself well & covering the ground in style & ease. A good win here, a top sized boy that for me had a shade too much leg length when it came to the final awards, no doubt he will appeal to many
2nd: MAGRI Gilcoru Luigi Rozamie, 13 month, another with amazing coat, elegant & smart, good head & dark eye, long neck leading into very good shoulders, has great feet, ribbing extends well back & loins are short & strong. For me he excels in quarters, strong, well angulated with neat parallel hocks. He is ultra sound coming & going, shows good reach & follow through in profile & retains a lovely outline. Matched 1 for length of leg & style, just being a shade more narrow throughout
3rd: CROSSMAN & KENNEDY Moonshe Make Bee Leeve
Graduate Dog (3)
1st: PRICE Collidach Thomas Tank
2nd: SIEMINSKI Dallandor Burdock, 14 month with a super head & expression, enough neck, loved his solid bone & tightly bunched feet, he excels in body & ribbing, so well sprung for his age, another with very good quarters, he is so well muscled throughout, ultra sound coming towards me here but a shade untidy going away. Holds a very good outline in profile & shows so well. Just a shade too much of him for me & not opening his gait as freely as 1. Another with a great coat
3rd: UMFREVILLE Dogrose Bee Of Sound Mind
Post Graduate Dog (2,1)
1st: SIEMINSKI Dallandor Burdock
Limit Dog (4,2)
1st: HOWELLS Fallowmill Time Traveler JW, loved the type & elegance of this boy who was bang on form. Very good head & expression, good strong teeth & jaws, dark points throughout, long well arched neck leading into precise shoulders, elbows are tight, the best of bone & feet, prominent forechest, front is correctly filled & everything fits just right, keel extends well back into a good gradual underline. Topline is rock solid, loins are short, strong & well filled, well muscled quarters with good strong parallel hocks. Very sound out & back, covers the ground so well in profile clearly displaying correct reach & follow through from behind whilst retaining his elegant natural head carriage. His coat & presentation was bang on form, on this performance he gained himself a well earned RCC
2nd: MILLS- JONES Bimini Moonrise At Carlita, loved his type, 16 moths & is without doubt a quality one. He too is elegant & possesses the most amazing harsh coat that is put down to perfection. Very good head, dark almond shaped eyes, long elegant neck, good shoulders, ribbing is well sprung & extends well back, tail correctly set & carried at all times, well angulated quarters which had muscles like Mike Tyson!. Ultra sound coming towards me but just not as precise today as 1 going away. Easy free striding side gait, a natural showman who I’m sure will continue to appeal to the majority, smart
Open Dog (5,1)
1st: JONES Ch Bimini Song Sung Blue JW, Pure quality, typical, beautifully made, holds everything together & remains Miniature in every way. Coat & muscular condition perfection. He is my ideal blueprint of a male for this variety, when your hands flow going over him & you get goose bumps you know it’s right. Without any hesitation my DCC winner, lucky owner/breeder who must enjoy looking at her dogs everyday, should be very useful to others too. Congratulations & thank you for bringing him!
2nd:BEACH & PARTRIDGE Cardaxians Bambab Baby, now a well deserved champion, a real showman too, shade taller on the leg & a shade more of him all round to 1, masculine head, good strong jaws, long well arched neck, well placed shoulders, good top & underlines, strong loins, well made quarters on strong firm hocks. Ultra sound going away, a shade untidy here coming towards me although his eagerness to please may not help!. His attitude continues to shine in profile where he can go places on a loose lead with a totally natural carriage whilst retaining all that is good about him. Another with a great coat that is put down to perfection
3rd: COROMINAS Ch Almarxils Diego For Ruichango (imp Esp) JW
Veteran Dog (2,1)
1st: MILLS- JONES Ch Carlita Sunrise JW, hard to believe he is a veteran, so full of vitality & still full of quality. Masculine head & expression, well arched neck, very good shoulders, plenty of width throughout, ribbing is well sprung & extends well back, short strong loins, firm well angulated quarters, still so very sound coming & going, moves out well in profile on a loose lead, a natural showman whose coat & presentation was bang on. Ran the final winners close too!
Puppy Bitch (4)
1st: O’CONNELL Almarxils Flamenco Dancer At Llennocor, 11 month red so full of quality & promise, she is the perfect size & oozes femininity, beautiful head, dark points throughout, lovely dark almond shaped eyes, long well arched neck which she uses so well on the move, super shoulders for one so young, tight elbows on the best of legs & feet, firm in backline & gradual in underline, short strong loins that lead into well made quarters, plenty of length to second thigh here. Super sound coming & going especially for a baby, but it’s her profile action that makes you look twice, clear reach & full follow through from behind (she actually uses what she has in angulation correctly). A real show girl here, running the big girls very close & on this performance will without doubt go onto brighter things, BP & the only Dachshund placed in The Puppy Group & rightly so too!
2nd: KIRKWOOD EMERY Helydon Xeptional Xaya, 11 month, more compact & less exaggerated, loved her type & overall proportions, really feminine head & expression, the darkest of oval shaped eyes, strong well arched neck leading very good shoulders, her muscletone is quite unique for one so young, very good ribbing with the shortest & strongest of loins, well made quarters on strong & neat parallel hocks. Ultra sound out & back & can certainly cover the ground with style & personality. Her coat is really outstanding, a real credit to hard work
3rd: ROSE Merryline Martha With Rosencrant
Junior Bitch (2,1)
1st: JONES Bimini Moonlight, the type this kennel produces is really a credit to the breed. I really fell for this beautiful 15 month young lady whose silhouette in stance & on the move was retained at all times, stunning head & melting expression, strong jaws with no sign of weakness, long well arched neck, perfect shoulders & correct in upper arm, tight elbows, super bone & feet. Plenty of forechest here with plenty of width throughout, her keel extending well back under her front legs, superb ribbing thats well sprung & extends well back on a cast iron topline, short strong loins, tail is a clear continuation of her spine being correctly set & carried at all times. Ultra sound coming & going, in profile she moves out with ease & does everything so naturally whilst retaining that perfect outline. Her height to length ratio’s are so correct & her coat perfection. An exciting youngster that thoroughly deserved The RBCC
Graduate Bitch (6,1)
1st: KILROY Rozelle Rosalie At Janacop JW, really lovely 20 month red that fills your eye, super head & dark points throughout, plenty of neck leading into very good shoulders, good strong legs & feet holding a correctly filled front with plenty of width. Ribbing is well sprung & covered, loins are strong & well filled, enough angulation behind & she certainly uses what she has on the move, good strong parallel hocks with no sign of weakness. Quite precise coming & going & holds her outline so well in profile with the right amount of ground clearance. Another with a great coat that is beautifully presented
2nd: FLETCHER Collidach Dusty Storm, loved her size & balance, her overall shape & ultra soundness scored her this place. Feminine throughout, good strong jaws, enough neck, very good shoulders & tight elbows, ample forechest & width throughout, very good ribbing on a firm backline, the neatest & shortest hocks that remain parallel at all times. She keeps it all together in profile & can certainly cover some ground. Another with great muscletone & correct coat that was perfectly presented
3rd: ROSE Barratini Song And Dance With Rosencrantz JW
Post Graduate Bitch (5,1)
1st: SIEMINSKI Dajean Surely A Vision, 23 month red, loved her size & outline, she too is ultra feminine throughout. Lovely head & expression, well arched kneck, good layback in shoulder, plenty of width throughout with a good prominent breastbone. Ribbing extends well back leading into well filled loins, tail is correctly set & carried at all times, well made quarters on strong neat hocks. Really sound here coming & going & in profile she comes alive with her natural showmanship giving a picture of elegance with her lovely head carriage which she used so well
2nd: KILROY Do Smartie at Janacop, another that appeals for type & retains an appealing overall shape, really feminine head & expression, long elegant neck, good layback in shoulder, good forechest & length of keel, well sprung ribbing with short strong loins. Although she has enough angulation in quarters her hocks where not as strong or as parallel as 1 & this showed especially when moving away today. However her profile outline is certainly appealing & she too can cover some ground with ease. Another in beautiful coat that is a result of hard work
3rd: HOWELLS Fallowmill Story Time
Limit Bitch (6,2)
1st: KIRKWOOD Helydon Vexy Vixen JW, Really beautiful 2 yr, so well made, free from exaggeration, fit & a real showgirl. Her proportions & ratios throughout are the ultimate ideal & her coat is perfection. Lovely head & expression, strong teeth & jaws, long well arched neck leading into very good shoulders with correct upper arm. Plenty of forechest with correct width throughout on the best of legs & feet. Her ribbing is well sprung & extends well back into short strong loins. Firm backline & gradual in underline, strongly well made quarters on super neat hocks. Ultra sound coming & going, great reach in front & drive from behind in profile showing a pair of clean pads. Retains all that is good about her at all times, one I really liked & pushed all the way, something she will continue to do on this performance
2nd: MERRY & SELBY Olivia Belle for Merryline, Another beautifully made bitch & lovely type too!. Good head & proportions, although not the ultra feminine expression of 1, long muscular well arched neck, very good shoulders, super bone & feet, plenty of width throughout, very good length of ribbing wich is well sprung, correct in top & underlines, she excels for me in hind quarters which are perfectly angled, balanced & well muscled, neat & strong parallel hocks too. Very sound & precise coming & going, looks the part in profile retaining a typical outline with a lovely natural head carriage. Another in great coat & one that appealed for the right reasons!
3rd: GILKES & STORTON Dereheath Love Is The Tonic
Open Bitch (3)
1st: THORN ANDREWS Ch Drakesleat Too Gud to be True, I just fell in love with her!. For me she is everything that I look for in a Min Wire. Her name sums her up perfectly. Her head & expression is beyond beautiful, I really could look at all day & her furnishings just make it totally captivating, long mobile neck carriage, copy book shoulders & upper arm to die for, to view & handle her front assembly is an object lesson to us all, it is true Dachshund, correct width, crook that fits precisely on the best of legs & feet with her Keel extending well back, ribbing is long & deep with short strong loins, correct in top & underlines, well made quarters & so well muscled throughout. Ultra precise coming & going, her free striding action in profile clearly gives you the impression she can do a days work. Attitude & determination that can’t be overlooked. No hesitation that she is pure Miniature Wire & fits the standard in every detail. Goose bumps can only confirm that my day finished on a high awarding her The CC & BOB with so much to spare
2nd: MERRY & VRANCH Ona Meli for Merryline, loved her type & proportions, beautiful head & expression, dark points & lovely dark almond shaped eyes, long neck leading into good shoulders, not quite the width throughout of 1 & shade more exaggerated although her body is well proportions & show good height to length ratio’s. Ribbing is well sprung & loins are short & strong. Enough angulation in quarters, tail is correctly set & carried at all times, quite precise up & down, looking well in profile with her lovely neck carriage & cast iron outline, another in great coat & condition
3rd: KIRKWOOD EMERY Ch Helydon Tartan Talula JW
Veteran Bitch (2,1)
1st: PROCTER Waldmeister Agnes, just wow, this sassy 9 yr old is so full of life & attitude!. Really lovely head & expression, long well arched neck leading into good shoulders, tight elbows on very good legs & feet. Plenty of width through her front with a good prominent breastbone, ribbing goes well back with short strong loins, tail is a continuation of her spine, hocks are neat, strong & still parallel. Moving away she is still very sound although not quite as precise coming towards. She moves out so well in profile clearly enjoying every minute, active & loving life which is a joy to see
