2nd Eve's Dachslur Mairi My Dream at Sundayshill,

It was a great pleasure to be asked to judge my own breed at the Dachshund Club open show. There were some nice dogs here today with most having tight feet and good muscle tone. I was so pleased to see my BOB go on to the ultimate accolade of BIS and BPIS at the age of 11 months. One to watch! Long-haired: MP (1) 1. Eve's Sundayshill Hermione, nice s/red bitch, nice head, dark eye, good shoulder placement, level topline held on the move, moved true fore and aft. Will be watching to see how she matures, promising girl. PD (3,1a) 1. Dare's Darsoms Zybrox, what a cracking puppy, beautifully presented s/red, lovely head on nicely arched neck flowing into good shoulders, correct bite. Good handful of front, long ribbing, nicely angulated rear and a level topline held on the move. Moved really well and is a real showman. Pleased to award him BP and BOB. Over the moon to see him go BPIS and BIS. 2. Duchesne's Darsoms Zyjosh of Scandell, litter brother to 1, similar size and shape but not quite the front of 1, slightly longer in hock. Moved well but not as showy as his sibling. PB (1) 1. Dare's Darsoms Zeunice, s/red of nice quality, litter sister to the puppy dogs, pretty head, dark eye, nice shoulders and front, good width throughout, nice rear angulation, moved well. Could benefit from losing a kg as still carrying a little puppy fat. J (1) 1. Roberts Swansford Gemmadora, s/red bitch, nice size, nice head and neck flowing into good shoulders. Moved well. PG (4) 1. Duchesne's Darsoms Zamba of Scandell, nice size, nice head and neck, good rear angulation, level topline, moved well. 2. Roberts Swansford Grantador, dark s/red, good front assembly, moved well. Preferred head and rear angulation of 1. 3. Horn's Darsoms Zotis. OD (4) 1. Horn's Darsoms Zabbi, good head on nicely arched neck, good front and good rear angulation. Level topline held on the move. Possibly the best I have seen him move. 2. Dare's Darsoms Zamson, brother chip as they say, same remarks, could swap places anytime. 3. Burke and Manston's Bonavoir James Hobbs. OB (3,1a) 1. Dare and Guy's Darsoms Zindzi, pretty head, dark eyes, nicely arched neck into good shoulders, good rear, good topline held on the move. BOS 2. Eve's Dachslur Mairi My Dream at Sundayshill, more rangy type, nice balance, good topline, nice head and neck. Would like a little darker eye.

My first time judging and I enjoyed every minute. I was pleased to have many quality dogs to go over and presentation was good. My thanks go to the Committee of The Dachshund Club for the appointment, Liz my steward and to the exhibitors who were prepared to give an unknown judge a go! MP (8, 1) Difficult decision between first and second. 1 Brooks' Lyndarlea Vienna. This little red girl moved out well for one so young. At nearly 7 months old she was confident, with good conformation, excellent front, a steady topline and rear drive. 2 Wood's Wildstar Wreward. Handsome black and tan boy, only 6 months old, again strode out well with good construction, unfortunate to meet the winner of this class today. 3 Roylance's Abbilis Immortality. PD (2) 1 Brooks' Lyndarlea Just Andy. 9 months old, stunning cream puppy with excellent pigment. Structurally first rate. Good type of head with dark eye. Well balanced front and rear angulation with correct movement, driving from behind. A profusion of coat. Very pleased to award him BPIB. 2 Wood's Wildstar Wrobinson. Charming 7 month red puppy, different type to 1st. Correct head with dark eye. Good rear drive just preferred the overall construction of my winner. PB (8, 2) 1 Wood's Wildstar Wynnona. Sister to second in PD. Very elegant head, correct dark eye with good length of neck and sound conformation front and rear. Strode out well, maintaining her topline on the move. 2 Lockett-Walters & Walters' Ralines Flirtini. 10 month cream with good pigment. Lovely front construction with excellent ribbing but just not so confident today. 3 Oxley's Pearl Our Pride And Joy At Dinkidax. JD/B (8, 1) 1 Wood's Wildstar Wynnona. 2 Barnsdale & Hayward Barnsdale's Eldmour Nettle Omuro At Chriskim. 15 months balanced cream bitch with attractive head. Construction good front and rear, can move well but not really enjoying life today. 3 McCarthy's Nagshall Port Alice. ND/B (4, 2) 1 McCarthy's Nagshall Port Au Prince. Cream dog who moved out with confidence, maintaining his topline. Would prefer slightly more length of neck. 2 White's Hillstar Kristina. First time at a show for this black and tan bitch. Needs to build her confidence which will come with experience. Nice head but just needs to mature. PG (7, 2) 1 Poole's Findowrie Dixie Rose. Lovely red bitch, attractive head, good shoulder placement and length of ribbing, well balanced on the move, maintaining her topline. 2 Norris' Criscan Caress. 6 yr old quality red bitch with sound conformation and movement. 3 McCarthy's Nagshall Port Au Prince. OD (5) 1 Brooks' Obdax Lynn's Badger. This dog really caught my eye. Nothing to dislike about this lovely silver dapple. Noble head with dark eye. Good length of neck, with excellent shoulder placement and long ribbing. Good rear construction balancing the front, hence good rear drive. A well-deserved BOB. 2 McCarthy's Nagshall Just Santana. A lovely composed cream, moving out well but would prefer a slightly fuller chest. Coat in excellent condition. 3 Norton's Halunke Pure Magic. OB (7, 2) 1 Locket-Walters & Walters' Ralines Kandi Kisses. Showed herself off to her advantage, which won her the class. Eyecatching red, good head and dark eye, sound front construction, excellent ribbing and short loin. Retained her topline on the move. BOS. 2 McCarthy's Nagshall Love Actually. Another quality cream, attractive head, longer in body than first, balanced front and rear angulation, which enabled her to move with drive. 3 Norris' Criscan Khesia.

Firstly I would like to thank the Committee, and exhibitors for asking me to judge Mini Smooths at this well run show. Also to the exhibitors for their entries. It has been quite a while since I have been around the Mini Smooth ring and I find that hocks and rear movement hasn't got any better. Many toe in, or moved wide at the rear. Fronts have got some depth now but cut up. Also short upper arms are creeping in giving an unbalance movement. Heads are losing the true hound head, lacking underjaw, they are getting more toy like, losing large teeth and eyes are more round then they should be. I was pleased with my main winners and the puppy going on to RBIS, well done. MP?(6) 1 Salisbury's Brocklewood Black Orchid. B/t bitch of lovely shape held a good topline. Just needs to drop in rear. Good length of neck, width to muzzle with good size teeth, dark eye and ears well set. Moved steady but lacked rear drive, in puppy challenge. 2 Kent's Lokmadi Oh Marion. Red bitch, immature smaller type. Well constructed, good length to neck. Dark eye, well set ears. Looked well on the stack not so settled on the move. 3 Jones' Radclyffe Alca. P?(8) 1 Hunt's Carpaccio Scarlett O'Hara. Shaded red bitch. Finer type but not lacking in bone or substance. Pretty feminine head with well shaped dark eye, ears have good placement, good reach of neck, correct shoulder placement, tight elbows. Depth to chest and ribbing that has length, level topline which was held on the stack and when she moved, nice angulation front and rear. Won this class with her strong rear movement. 2 Hutchings' Stargang Hot Cross Bun. Larger type brindle bitch, true houndy head with lovely expression. Reach to neck, ribbing deep and with length. Sweeping hind angulation, Just not as settled on the move as first. 3 Burke & Manston's Radclyffe Acanthus. N?1 Hunt's Carpaccio Scarlett O'Hara. 2 Hutchings' Stargang Hot Cross Bun. 3 Yeoman's Klynerbyner Trade Mark. PG ?(12) 1 Reed's Deercroft Deep Secret. B/t bitch with well shaped conical head, with dark well shaped eye, strong clean white teeth (many lacked), length to neck, nice pro-sternum, depth and length to rib, tight feet and elbows. Elegant bitch. Moved well but not flowing as well as Open Bitch in the challenge. 2 Shutt's Donnadoon Waterloo Sunset. Shaded red dog, well put together with a good outline. Nice amout of bone, good lay of shoulder. length to neck and level topline. He was very unsettled and this showed in his movement. 3 Phillips' Stargang Devil May Care Of Robinswood. OD?(6) 1 Protheroe's Royalmaple Anky Panky. Red dog of quality. So well put together, he has very good muscletone, tight feet and good bone, elegant head with dark well shaped eye, ears well set, length to neck, good pro sternum, ribs have length and strength. Flowed around the ring with elegance and power. Lost out to Open Bitch for BOB as not so strong in topline. 2 Parish's Melriding Lambert Simnel Of Garlandelms. Red dog who moved well narrower type. Was a bit tucked up and not holding level topline. OB 1 Hunt's Ch Carpaccio Blithe Spirit JW. B/t bitch, oozes quality. So well put together, length to muzzle, dark well shaped eye, length to neck, into well placed shoulders. Lovely angulation fore and aft, depth to front with ribbing having length, strong bone tight elbows, moved with ease holding a good topline at all times. BB, BOB. 2 Protheroe's Am Ch Grandgables Ms Ever So Yummy At Royalmaple. Another quality bitch. Red with elegant head with dark well shaped eye, length to neck, width to front and depth to ribs that are oval and long, in good muscletone and tight feet. Not quite as free moving as first.
