Thanks also to my wonderful stewards and the exhibitors for their entries. Such a shame two other Dachshund breed shows were also taking place today.
Best in show – Was the quality long haired, young shaded red bitch Lewis Trixhund Madness jw caught my eye as she entered the ring and did not disappoint on further inspection. She was in super fit condition with rock hard muscles on the rear, sadly this was lacking in many exhibits today. She has the most beautiful head and expression leading to strong neck and excellent shoulders. Moved with such reach and drive a real pleasure to watch. I understand she has 2ccs and I wish her well, and hopefully soon will wear her crown, I will watch her future career with interest.
Reserve Best in Show - Ergis Siouxline Elsa Marie mini smooth
Best Puppy in show- was again another quality long haired bitch puppy, from the same kennel as BIS – Lewis Trixhund Crystal Royale, wow this silver dapple stormed into the ring as if she owned it !! and she did. Mature and already an established showgirl. I couldn’t take my eyes off her a real stunning puppy. Another with excellent muscle definition and so sound on the move if a little exuberant at times. So lovely to see her enjoying her day, as puppies should. Congratulations to her owners/breeders on a successful day and many more to come I feel, loved her.

Super quality brindle male of 11 months, with the most appealing masculine houndy head. A well-established show man, handled well to show off his many attributes. Loved his clean neck and correct shoulders, super prosternum, moved out well with drive, just felt he needs to tighten up coming towards, which held him back today from higher honours. BP and RBOB

6 Months old extremely outgoing bitch puppy, who really made me smile with her enthusiasm, so lovely to see her enjoying her time in the ring. Very pretty head with dark almond eye, tail carriage needs to settle.

Feminine 11-month-old red brindle bitch puppy, litter sister to previous class winner, at this stage of development she is not as forward as her brother, but time is on her side. Loved her for size and build and very correct front. Preferred her brother’s rear angulation.

17-month-old mature bitch, who has the loveliest outline when stacked, she has an excellent keel and topline. Unfortunately, on the move she just tends to toe in behind.

Quality red bitch who is very feminine and balanced throughout. On the stack she presents a beautiful outline with prominent keel and level topline. Shame today she was carrying too much body condition.

Pretty black and tan bitch eye a little too round, nicely conditioned with gleaming coat. Good bite. excellent front but lacks rear angulation to match

11-month-old ultra feminine bitch puppy, whom I liked very much. Afterwards looking at her breeding I can see why!! Her grandmother I have placed highly in the past. Well balanced puppy. with lovely rear angulation and superb ribs. Classic outline on the stack, and such a sound free mover. BOB, BP and RBPIS
2nd Cox Cheritondax Riesling
9-month-old cream baby who at the moment is very raw and just needs time. Very pretty with the darkest of almond eyes. Perfect size and good length and ground clearance, not as forward in development as 1st or as free on the move, just lacking in a bit of confidence and rear drive.

Masculine shaded cream male presented in lovely condition. Loved his handsome head with the darkest of almond eyes. Really went well on the move with a very happy disposition. Moderately long with plenty of ground clearance. RBOB

17-month-old bitch who was ok for size and had the harshest of coats. She was moderately long with good ground clearance. Excellent length of ribs, on the move she was sound and free flowing moving parallel. Feminine head, strong jaws and the best of almond shaped eyes, I liked her very much BOB

1st Roses Merryline Martha with Rosencrantz jw 2-year-old bitch. Another well-turned-out exhibit from this owner, and another who showed extremely well. I preferred her size over her kennel mate, but she couldn’t match her on the move, thought she was slightly carrying a little too much body condition today. RBOB

My thanks to the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge at this very friendly, welcoming show and for their wonderful hospitality. This club is very generous to the members, exhibitors and judges alike. Thank you to all the sporting exhibitors for a wonderful quality entry, although numerically small, and allowing me to go over your hounds. A special thank you to my stewards for keeping everything running smoothly. Overall presentation was very good across all the varieties and teeth were clean. Movement was better on the mat than on the floor and decisions may have changed if the dogs had been outside. I judged according to my interpretation of the breed standard - not forgetting Sayers. My decisions were based on how the dogs appeared and performed on the day, with emphasis on good movement.
PUPPY D/B (3) 1ST Seath Sunsong Hope For The Best BP, RBOB 7 month-old w/b dog. Good quality, handsome and happy pup. He has a well-balanced conical head, intelligent, keen and cheeky expression. Dark almond eye, strong jaw and correct bite. Broad, well-set ears. Furnishings are just coming in and coat texture is harsh. Forelegs strong in bone and loved his well arched, broad feet. Prominent breastbone and oval front. Lengthy neck, running smoothly to good shoulders. Good length of well sprung ribbing, good top and underline, short loin, well angulated hindquarters and correct tail set. Correct 2:1 proportions and plenty of ground clearance. Moved extremely well in profile and up and down. He keeps a firm topline and showed has pads going away. Has a lot of maturing and developing to do, a little on the rangy side just now, but liked him a lot, full of character, confidence and promise. Pleased to award him BP & RBOB. 2ND Jones Koenhonds Ice Cream Sundae 6 month-old bitch. Needs more time to mature and to settle into her frame, but is promising. Good head, dark almond eye & intelligent expression with well set ears. Good bite and jaw. More compact in body than the winner and ribbing needs to lengthen. Nicely angulated hindquarters. Very good feet. Moved a little narrow in the front and rear but kept her topline in profile. 3RD Richards Koenhonds Lemon Cheesecake
JUNIOR D/B (1) 1ST Seath Sunsong Forever Hopeful 7 month-old w/b litter sister to puppy winner. She is more mature than her brother and very nice quality with correct 2:1 proportions. Lovely balanced head, keen expression with dark almond eye. Correct ear set. Good strength of foreface, strong jaw and correct bite. Harsh coat texture. Like her brother, she has strong, well-boned forelegs and good feet. Prominent prosternum and oval front. Good length of neck running to well-placed shoulders, Good ribbing with short loin. Nicely angulated hindquarters and good tail set. She kept her firm topline on the move and has plenty of ground clearance with neat underline, but moved slightly close in front and going away today, both in her class and in the challenge.
POST GRADUATE D/B (1) 1ST Jones Piece of Cake 4 year old very feminine w/b bitch. Attractive, well-balanced head with dark almond eye and intelligent expression. Harsh coat texture. Fair length of neck running to fair shoulders with good ribbing and short loin. Hindquarters are good, giving her a driving action and she maintained her topline very well on the move.

Like A Star BOB 17 month-old w/b bitch with a harsh jacket. Beautifully balanced
head, dark almond eye and pleasing, intelligent expression. Good strength of
foreface, strong jaw and correct dentition. Prominent breastbone, oval front
with strong forelegs and very good feet. Good reach of neck into correctly
placed shoulders with good return of upper arm, tight elbows and good length of
keel. She has the correct 2:1 proportions and good ground clearance. Well sprung
ribbing, extending well back with a short, strong loin and good top and
underline. On the move she has good reach in front and good hind extension,
keeping her topline on the move at all times. Very pleased to award her BOB.

Conical, well balanced head, pleasing expression with good pigment. Dark almond eye, and well-set ears. Strong jaw with correct dentition. Good length of neck into well placed shoulders, good length of upper arm and tight elbows. Forelegs are well boned with very good feet. Prominent breastbone and oval front. Well sprung ribbing extends well back to short loin and correctly angulated hindquarters. Good topline and underline. She has a balanced outline with no exaggerations and 2:1 proportions. Moved freely from all angles and kept her topline with reach in front and drive from the rear. Coat is soft, straight with feathering coming in. Correct height to length ratio and plenty of ground clearance. In the challenge for RBOB her movement was not quite so positive at the rear. A lovely young bitch and was delighted to see her win BPIS, congratulations.
JUNIOR D/B (1) 1ST Cooper & Hendren Bronia Leonardo Red dog of 14 months with a happy disposition. He has a handsome, masculine, well-balanced conical head. Dark almond eye with strong jaw and correct dentition. He is a compact type with moderate neck and fair shoulders. Ribbing extends well back and has a short, strong loin. Good top and underline and firm hindquarters. Beautiful shining, straight, soft coat and presented in excellent muscular condition. Plenty of ground clearance and his movement was good in profile, kept his topline at all times, but a little narrow up and down today.
POST GRADUATE D/B (2) 1ST Turton, Bay of Biscoff Biscuit At Damoradaxies 3 year old dog with well balanced, masculine head and dark almond eye. He has a good length of neck leading to well-placed shoulders. Correct, soft, straight coat. Has a good topline, but would prefer longer ribbing and shorter loin. Well angulated hindquarters. He is longer than the required 2:1 proportions but has enough ground clearance. Moved steadily keeping his outline at all times and saw his pads going away. 2ND Bronia Leonardo
LIMIT D/B (1) 1ST Partridge, Ranglewood Xmas Cracker to Riveroyal, RBOB B/T dog of 23 months. He has a balanced masculine head with dark eye and keen expression. Good ear set, strong jaw and correct bite. Has a prominent prosternum and well filled oval front with strong, well boned forelegs and good feet. Good length of arched neck leading to reasonably good lay of shoulder. Ribbing extends fairly well back with strong, correctly angulated hindquarters. Correct tail set. Has a good top and underline but is slightly longer than 2:1 proportions and would prefer a slightly shorter loin. He is very well muscled, has straight, soft coat and was well presented. A strong and substantial dog. His movement was very free and he held a good topline on the move and was parallel in front and rear which gave him RBOB.
OPEN D/B (3,1) 1ST Lewis, Trixhund Madness JW BOB Loved this beautiful, feminine 3 year old shaded red bitch of such good quality and breed type. She is a lovely size with no exaggerations. Excellent head, conical and well balanced with dark almond eye and good pigment. Strong jaw and correct dentition. Good length of neck, smoothly running to well laid shoulders and good return of upper arm. Prominent forechest with well filled oval front. Strong well boned legs and good feet. Very lengthy well sprung ribbing, short strong loin and excellent hindquarters, with good turn of stifle and short hocks. Good top and underline, with lengthy keel. Has correct 2:1 proportions and good ground clearance. Moved with good reach in front and drive from the rear, keeping a beautifully balanced picture at all times and showing her pads going away. Coat is soft and straight, not obscuring outline but with nice feathering. I hear she has 2 CC’s already and hope she gains her title soon; she deserves it. Was thrilled when she won BIS today, congratulations! 2 Partridge, Pettigans Viva La Vida By Riveroyal JW Another very feminine bitch with a well balanced head, dark almond eyes and intelligent expression. Correct dentition. Lengthy neck leading to well placed shoulders and good length of upper arm. Has prominent prosternum and well filled oval front and well boned strong forelegs. Good spring of ribs, length of keel and short loin. Balanced outline with correct 2:1 proportions and good ground clearance. Moved with drive and held her topline, but a little close coming towards me today.

Correct dentition and ear set. Good reach of neck to well laid shoulders. Prominent breastbone and oval front with strong legs and good feet. Good length of ribbing with short loin and good top and underline. Has balanced 2:1 proportions and good ground clearance. Hindquarters are well angulated with long upper thigh and short second thigh. Has a well-muscled croup and nice short hocks. Good tail set. Moved freely, keeping her outline on the move, with reach in front and drive from the quarters. 2ND Small, Clentry Walking In Memphis Red bitch of 10 months with a conical head, dark almond eye and keen expression. Correct dentition. Slightly low set ears. Long, elegant neck running to good lay of shoulder. Prominent breastbone with oval front, strong forelegs and good feet. Good topline, croup and tail set. Well - muscled hindquarters with good length of upper thigh. Correct 2:1 proportions and plenty of ground clearance. On the move has a balanced outline from the side, but was moving close behind today.
JUNIOR D/B (1) 1 Ashby, Jaxinorydax Screenshot Dis Red dog, litter brother of puppy winner and built on similar lines but not as mature. Has a balanced, conical head with dark eye and keen expression. Good ear set and dentition. Good reach of neck but preferred his sister’s front. Has good ribbing and short loin with good hindquarters. Kept a reasonable topline on the move but close coming towards me today.
POST GRAD D/B (3,2) 1 Ashby Raajputs Canadian Winter With Wakywilks B/T bitch of four years of good breed type with a balanced, conical head, dark almond eye and correct ear set. Good length of neck running smoothly into well laid shoulders with good return of upper arm. Prominent prosternum and well filled oval front with good length of keel. Legs are well boned and has good feet. Level topline with ribbing extending well back, and short, strong loin. Neat underline. Well angulated hindquarters with sloping croup and good tail set. Nice short hocks. Is well balanced with 2:1 proportions and good ground clearance. Kept a lovely outline on the move and moved parallel both ways. Considered for reserve best of breed but in the challenge was a little close behind.
LIMIT D/B (3,1) Two very nice bitches. 1ST Rycroft & Rycroft, Raajput’s Dancer Divaa With Triensara RBOB B/T bitch of nearly 2 years with a feminine, well balanced, conical head, dark almond eye and broad, well-set ears. Strong jaw and correct dentition. Very good reach of neck running into well placed shoulders, correctly angulated, and good length of upper arm. Oval front with prominent prosternum, forelegs strong and good feet. Well sprung and lengthy ribbing and short, strong loin. Good top and underline. Presents a compact outline, showing lovely breed type with no exaggerations and balanced 2:1 proportions. Good ground clearance. Moved really well, good reach in front and drive from the rear, keeping her outline at all times and parallel up and down. Shown in beautiful, well-muscled condition. 2ND Ashby, Rayol Pumpkin Pie At Jaxinorydax Red bitch of 3 years and another with good breed type. Conical head, correct eye, strong jaw with good bite and well-set ears. Good length of neck, well placed shoulders with good return of upper arm. Oval chest and prominent prosternum with well boned forelegs and good feet. Topline is strong, good length of ribbing and short loin. Tidy underline. Hindquarters are well angulated and muscular. On the move she shows a balanced outline in profile. Going away was a little close, but good coming towards me.
OPEN D/B (4) Lovely strong class, all four were of good breed type and quality. 1ST & BOB Rycroft & Rycroft Ch Jacksondax Hornet Hurrah At Trisensara JW ShCEx OSW One I have admired from the ringside for some time for his ideal size, completely balanced, unexaggerated breed type and soundness. Looks like he could do a day’s work and is certainly ‘fit for function’. Four year old B/T dog who was initially distracted, but handler managed to bring him to attention. He has a balanced, very masculine head with correct dark, almond eye, strong jaw, correct bite and well-set ears. Long, arched neck, flowing into well placed shoulders, with good length and return of upper arm. Prominent breastbone, well filled oval chest, good length of keel and tight elbows. Strong forelegs and good feet. Holds a firm topline, excellent length of ribbing and short, strong loin. Neat underline. Really strong, well angulated, powerful and well-muscled hindquarters with good turn of stifle and short hocks. Good length of croup and set on of tail. Movement was excellent, powerful, free and flowing, keeping outline at all times and was parallel towards me and going away. Was a little proud of his tail today, at times, but did not detract from his overall performance. A really lovely dog and a very worthy champion, congratulations. 2ND Stark, Gobannium Made Of Honour JW Attractive and feminine 3 year old clear red bitch of substance and good breed type. Balanced, conical head with dark, almond eye, correct ear set and strong jaw. Good reach of neck running to well laid shoulders with good length of upper arm. Prominent fore chest with a well filled oval front. Has good length of well- sprung ribbing, a firm top and underline and correct tail set. Super quality red smooth bitch, so balanced and sound. Not showing her age at all presented in fit condition a pleasure to go over. Immaculate front with exceptional prominent breastbone. Loved her length of rib and strong topline. A worthy champion thank you for the opportunity of going over a bitch of outstanding merit. Just lost out for top honours, but an easy BVIS
2nd Roses Pennydach Mystique at Rosencrantz VW
Another feminine mini smooth bitch, with a beautiful head and expression. Lost out to first as not as good in front construction and rising a little in topline. Moved well with plenty of rear drive.
