My thanks to the Officers & Committee of the Dachshund Club of Wales for their hospitality. The ladies in the kitchen did a brilliant job with the catering. A nice show with a friendly atmosphere.

I awarded BEST IN SHOW to McCalmont's SILVAE TRADEMARK. Beautiful Wirehaired bitch, full of quality & with a lovely balanced outline. Her head is typical with good eye shape & ear carriage. Good length of neck leading into well laid shoulders, tight elbows, sound even front, good depth of ribbing which was carried well back, strong quarters with sufficient bend of stifle, well set stern, her movement was parallel fore & aft, a really lovely hitch who must have a bright future.
RESERVE BEST IN SHOW was Paget & Carroll's Std Smooth LAURALEE OSCAR WILD AT MARVALE.  This is another lovely young dog that oozes quality, he has a glorious head & expression, sound front assembly with sufficient pro-sternum and length & depth of rib, good bend of stifle with low hocks, super outline stacked, sound on the move.
BEST PUPPY IN SHOW went to Dance's charming Miniature Wire bitch EMEM SUMMER SUNSHINE.  I loved her personality, she has a lovely head with expressive dark eyes & good ear placement, nice shape with good body proportions & sound neat front, parallel hind movement, she maintained her balanced outline striding around the ring, lovely harsh jacket.  Beautiful baby girl.
RESERVE BEST PUPPY IN SHOW was Hunt's CARPACCIO FABERGE.  Free moving Std.Smooth girl that moved out well, she has a sound front with tight elbows, good depth all through with ribbing carried back. correct length with firm topline, well turned stifles, promising puppy.   Sue Ergis

Puppy (6,1)

1st Beach’s Riowood Arizona TAF 8 month old red brindle dog, very smart in profile displaying a balanced outline, lovely head and keen expression, prominent breastbone and good length and spring of rib, strong first thigh of decent length, his movement coming towards was not as good as going away but he maintained a level topline and I felt that he had done more than enough to win this class, pleased to award BPIB.

2nd Hunt’s wolferlow George Brown At Carpaccio 9 month old chocolate & tan dog, A little unsettled on the table today he lacked the confidence of 1st however he pulled it together on the move to display the correct free flowing movement.

3rd Rodgers’s Mynyddstud Best Kept Secret

Junior (4,1)

1st Starkey’s Carpaccio Black Obsidian For Hamoura 13 month old b&t dog, I have judged him before when he was a very raw 6 month old puppy and pleased to say that he is maturing into a really smart dog, very similar in type to 2nd place , I liked his front construction, body was well muscled with a good underline, topline levelled out on the move which was true fore and aft.

2nd Beach’s Beachdax Diamond Diva 10 month old b&t bitch, very good front assembly with a good depth of keel, ribbed well back with a better topline than 1st but I preferred the movement of my winner.

3rd Zaivej’s Formula Usepha Style

Post grad (8,3)

1st Paget & Carroll’s Marvale Master Of Disguise 19 month old b&t dog, very impressive outline, moderately long and low without any exaggeration lovely deep keel, excellent under rib, perfectly angulated quarters.

2nd Hunt’s Carpaccio Scarlet O’Hara nearly 3 year old shaded red bitch, smaller in frame than 1st, very feminine head with lovely dark eye and keen expression, Good lay of shoulder and really good length of upper arm, I preferred her rear movement to that of 1st but preferred the front movement and over all breed type of my winner.

3rd Kilroy’s Janacop Maggie May

Limit (5,0)

1st Worswick’s Dolyharp Sonata 2 year old shaded red bitch, lovely outline, front assembly was perfect, everything just flowed effortlessly, deep keel, body was well muscled with pleasing top and underlines, short loin her movement was the best in this class, RBOB.

2nd Melbourne, Carroll & Paget’s Marvale In Cahoots With Melriding 19 month old shaded red dog, litter brother to 1st in post grad, masculine head, super front angulation with very good length of upper arm, good pro sternum with super length an spring of rib, nicely angulated rear.

3rd Kelroy’s Bronia Ramona At Janacop

Open (5,2)

1st Melbourne, Carroll & Paget’s Donnadoon Sea Vermillion At Marvale 2 year old shaded red bitch, looked absolutely stunning today, when stacked her outline was the most gorgeous shape, for me oozes breed type, perfectly angulated quarters ribbing was long with a strong short loin, movement was faultless, very pleased to award BOB.

2nd Beach’s Izia Klara Difino (imp Svn) 2 year old red dog, Bigger in frame than 1st I loved this boy’s masculine head and reach of neck, topline and underline were both pleasing and movement was ok.

3rd Griffiths’s Glyndwr Star Player

Puppy (1,0)

1st Dance’s Emem Constance sunshine 11 month old brindle bitch, sweet expression on a smaller head, lovely front assembly a little fidgety on the table but relaxed enough on the move to show a pleasing outline.

Junior (2,0)

Difficult to place these 2 as I preferred 2nd when stacked but preferred movement of 1st so….

1st weeks’s Beldrew flora at Avon 17 month old b&t brindle bitch, super head, long neck, harsh coat, I would prefer less of a rise over the loin but moved with long free flowing strides, good reach, true fore and aft.

2nd Manston-Teal’s lordscairnie love island 14 month old brindle bitch, in profile very smart looking, typical head, good length of neck, ribbing is good with a short loin, unfortunately lacked drive and moved without purpose today.

Post grad (5,3)

1st Dance’s Emem Summer sunshine 11 month old brindle bitch, litter sister to 1st in puppy, WOW what a stunning outline, lovely expression on a feminine head, correct ear set, long neck flowing into well laid shoulders, good length of upper arm, strong breast bone with pleasing underline, good length of ribbing with a level topline, strong well muscled hindquarters which powered her around the ring, no hesitation in awarding her BOB & BPIB then delighted to watch her win BPIS. Well done ! 2nd Feetham’s kimbleholme king of hearts 22 month old red brindle dog, higher on the leg than 1st but presented a balanced outline, masculine head, excellent ribbing with a strong short loin plenty of bone and moved effortlessly.

Limit (4,2)

1st Feetham’s kimbleholme pot of luck 22 month old brindle bitch, I didn’t know until I looked in the catalogue that she is a litter sister to 2nd in post grad which would explain why I wrote exactly the same notes !!! Perfectly balanced, sweet feminine head with an appealing expression, good length of neck with a good overall front assembly, excellent ribbing with a strong short loin, good bone and coat, moved well true up & back, happy to award RBOB.

2nd Marston-Teal’s lordscairne lifes new love nearly 3 year old red brindle bitch, super coat, good length of rib, pleasing top line but today lacked drive.

Open (3,1)

1st Feetham’s kimbleholme jackpot 4 year old b&t brindle bitch, lovely outline, good length of neck leading to well laid shoulders, well ribbed up with good angulated quarters, good bone and moved true.

2nd pain’s Ravensbeech Rigoletto nearly 5 year old brindle dog, harsh coat, not as balanced as 1st good pro sternum and a good length and spring of rib I would however prefer more angulation on the hindquarters .
