I enjoyed my day at the Dachshund Club open show, thank you for your entries.

MPD/B (4,2a)  1. Brookes’ Ranglewood Oberon of Kyrenia, 6mth male, small but compact, very raw baby, moved freely, good topline, nice width and frony assembly. 2. Paskins’ Kindeace Texas Ranger, another raw baby who is going through a bit of a gangly stage and a little too long in body.  Hopefully he will grow into this as he’s only 7mths.

PD (4,2a)  1. Booth and Elsley’s Abbalongdat I Had A Dream, 11mth, good reach of neck, nice width throughout, solid topline, free flowing movement. BPIB.  2. Booth and Elsley’s Abbalongdat One Of Us, litter brother to 1, just preferred the width of 1 as he’s a little narrow, nice on the move.

PB (5)  1. Chapman’s Melminds Make Them Gold, 11mth, nice head, good reach of neck, good spring of ribbing, solid topline held on the move.  2. Potter/Vincent Metadale Monica at Gainscroft, nice sound bitch just preferred the movement of 1, nice head, neck and shoulder placement, good topline.  3. Brookes’ Metadale Makayla at Kyrenia.

JD/B (2,1a)  1. Lvova’s Eos Kometa Integra (IMP LTU), FCI style bitch, very shy and hard to assess on the table as she would not let me go over her.  Moved ok but only in one direction.  Needs time and patience which I’m sure her owner has.

ND/B no entries.

PGD/B (6,2a)  1.Chapman’s Africandawns Justin N Time for Melminds, very showy male, nice on the move, good forechest, good drop down, strong male head leading into good reach of neck  and nice shoulder placement.  2.Potter/Vincent, Tan Socks for Gainscroft, loved this little bitch, she may be small but she is so well made, moved like she owned the ring, quite clearly loves showing. BOS.          3. Paskins’ Kindeace Scarlett O’Hara

OD (6,1a)  1. Rodrigues’ Darsoms Zydexta, commanded the ring, moved very freely around the ring and was very showy, sound dog, good strong head, lovely reach of neck leading into nice shoulder placement, solid topline stood and on the move, nice spring of rib and good width throughout. BOB  2. Booth and Elsley’s Abbalongdat Eagle, a nice dog but was out moved by my winner, good spring of rib, solid topline held on the move, tight elbows, good drop down.  3. Chapman’s Melminds Zsylvester ShCM.

MP (5) 1 Storton’s B, Dereheath Dee Major. Small compact bitch correct head and eye, well laid shoulder with plenty of return giving a good forechest. She is well ribbed and is carrying a good crisp coat. She stands and moves four square with reach and drive. BP. 2 Rankine’s B, Fallowmill Pumkin Pie. Similar remarks apply to this bitch. She moved well behind but wasn’t settled in front on the return. 3 Storton’s D, Dereheath Major Tom. PD (2, 1) 1 Phillips D, Birichino Barley Of Robinswod. He possesses a good head and correct front. He is carrying a good crisp coat and he stood well and moved soundly. PB (4) 1 Rankine’s B, Fallowmill Pumpkin Pie. Second in Minor Puppy. 2 West’s Archidax Dark Phoenix. Much to admire about this puppy, I particularly liked her low hocks which she uses well on the move. 3 Storton’s Dearheath Marjory. J (4, 2) 1 Salisbury’s D, Pennywave Nosey Parker At Brocklewood. Good headed and harsh coated dog. He has a good shoulder and is well ribbed, he stands four square and on the out moves very well. I would appreciate a little more extension on his front. 2 Mullen’s B, Rozelle Kamiras Year. Excellent coated bitch she carries a good head and a correct eye she has a good front construction, is well ribbed and moved soundly. N (3, 2) 1 Marston-Teal’s B, Lordscairnie Love Island. This bitch stood well on the table. I liked her head and shoulder placement she has a good return and good forechest and is well ribbed. A little close behind on the out but move correctly on the return. 2 Corner’s B, Gragareth Girl At Carcorn. Again a good headed bitch with all the essentials. I felt she was inclined to loose her topline on the move. PG (6) 1 Kay’s B, Foxearth Run For Fun At Kaytian. Lovely headed bitch with a good dark eye, she has a well developed front and is well ribbed. She stands four square and has lovely low hocks which she uses to her advantage. 2 Lee’s D, Driveelm Main Attraction At Daxilee. This dog has many similar qualities to the winner but wasn’t quite so positive on rear movement. 3 Mullen’s B, Starhill Flirty Girty. OD (3, 2) 1 Kay’s Kaytian Tempest Over Haiti JW. Smart Red boy, he carries an excellent head with a good dark eye. His shoulders are well laid and has a good return giving a correct forechest. He is well ribbed and stands on well shaped, well padded feet. He moves soundly both on the out and back. Pleased to make him BOS. 2 Clarke’s Lordscairnie Love God. This dog has all the essentials in body proportions. He stands well and has a well developed forechest and stands and moves four square. To be critical I would prefer a more refined backskull. OB (5) I believe and said to the exhibitors in this class that I would have happily placed any of them first. 1 Dance’s Ch Emem Summer Sunshine JW. A well known and understandably well awarded and critiqued bitch. I feel it is enough for me to say that she is made very well and moved correspondingly well. She clearly loves showing and her personality definitely shows when in motion. My BOB and RBiS. 2 Storton’s Dereheath Helen Reddy. An excellent exhibit I liked her head and her lovely dark well shaped eyes, she is constructed correctly throughout and moves soundly both on the out and back. Unfortunate to meet the winner. 3 West’s Byabye Brillare With Archidax JW.

I would like to thank the committee for the invite to judge and to the exhibitors for the lovely entry. It is good to see such quality from youngsters, though it was disappointing to find that far too many are lacking muscle and condition. Feet seem to be another point of concern, too many are flat and not of correct shape. Temperaments on most were lacking many looking dead behind the eyes and no ring presence.  Was absolutely delighted to see my Best of Breed and Best Puppy take both Best in Show and Best Puppy in Show.

I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge at the breed open show. It was a real honour to be able to judge my own breed at a club show. I would also like to thank all of the exhibitors for allowing me to go over and judge their lovely dogs. I am very honoured to have been given this opportunity of such a good entry. Thank you

MPD/B (5/2) 1 st McCalmont – Silvae Fan Dancer. What a treat to judge this gorgeous puppy. This 7 month old Brindle Bitch has a lovely correct head and expression with a kind dark eye. Good reach of neck, length of shoulders and upper arms, with correct angles which nicely placed the front legs well under the body. Good prosturnum, adequate keel and ribbing. Moved well, showing good reach and good drive although was a little unsettled, she still performed well keeping her topline. One to watch for the future. 2nd Wharton – Bystock Big Bucks. Another cracking puppy at nearly 7 months old he looks mature for one so young. Fabulous coat on this puppy. Good, correct head and eye. Not quite the forechest as 1 but still has good angulations and proportions in his forequarters. Good topline, good length and spring of rib. Moved showing drive whilst being parallel away and towards. 3rd Pugh & Fraser- Bystock Best Mate. PD (5/1) 1st Vine -Seton Hacking Jacket at Cishelvine. An 8 month old Red

Dog puppy in a stunning Red Coat of good harsh texture. He has a good proud prosturnum, with good shoulder/Upper Arm ratio. Adequate ribbing and keel leading to the hindquarters which gives a very pleasing return of stifle with well let down hocks. Moved well and sound with enthusiasm and drive and I’m sure will settle more as he ages. 2nd Wharton- Bystock Big Bucks. 3rd Pugh & Fraser – Bystock Best Mate PB (4/2) McCalmont-Silvae Sky Dancer. Another lovely puppy, litter sister to 1st in Minor Puppy D/B, At first glance this puppy has a balanced appearance, is in good harsh coat, she has a good correct head, eye shape and colour. Good lay of shoulder with good angulations of shoulder blade and upper arm. Adequate ribbing and keel. Good hind angles with well let down hocks. She moved with lots of enthusiasm enjoying her time in the ring, moved with drive and presence. 2nd Matthews – Wyeknot Come Fly With Me Over Sonham. This is a very nicely put together puppy a hard choice between 1 and 2.
