Puppy dog,2,2abs. Junior Dog 3,1. 1st Vincent- Gainscroft Dark Destroyer 14 mths shaded red with coat being soft & totally flat, balanced conical shaped head boldly carried, he has dark almond eyes & correct scissor bite covered with well stretched lips. His ears are broad at base & well rounded, clean necked onto well set shoulders & adequately boned straight forelegs giving reach in front movement with full tight well arched feet as did 2nd place too.. He has a super level topline having equal height of withers/rump. With decent ribbing & a gradual rise of underline to a short loin. He has correct balance of hindquarters to mirror his front assembly, holding horizontal tail when freely moving on a long stride & parallel on away & back. BD made my decision hard but the bitch just pipped him on finish of coat. BOS. Reid- Cavallibrook Final Legacy at Maudaxi well balanced compact outline with well furnished straight coat. This boy has similar head qualities to first with kind eye, correct scissor bite as all the exhibits had today, slightly lower set ears, smooth line into muscled shoulders, preferred the slightly more prominent breastbone of 1st, this lad is well off for bone & has plenty of heart & lung room with short slightly arched loin, he has a strong rear that showed in side gait although he didn’t hold his topline as strong as 1st. Novice dog 1,0. Vincent- Gainscroft Dashing Dudley litter brother to Junior winner he has more length of coat but very slightly wavier on his back. He has super 2-1 body to height length, although not the balance of head, his skull being broader with a shorter muzzle. He has dark eye colour & a correct higher set ear. Decent lay of shoulder this boy stands true & his upper arm lies close to his ribs but still has ease of movement. Gradual merge of underline to unexaggerated rear quarters, straight tail of correct length, free mover. Post Graduate dog 1,1. Open dog 2,0 1st Cook & Rhodes- Abydachs Free Spirit for Bournder super conicled head shape with 50/50 head/muzzle with dark eye of medium almond shape. Longish slightly arched neck, he has a decent front with strong boned legs covering lowest point of keel, impressed to see short nails! Broad in rump with correctly angled rear, well furnished jacket with flagged tail & tidy feet. Long stride showing his pads going away. 2nd Eve- Sundayshill Benedict nice to see a slight arch to his muzzle, lovely dark shade eye although preferred the head shape of 1st. Clean, slightly arched neck into well muscled front, not quite the breastbone of 1st . He has the required ground clearance with a level topline held strongly when moving, extremely well muscled rear giving effortless movement. Puppy bitch 3,2. 1st Eve- Sandyshill Salvannah 6 months & so well behaved, very feminine headed scored with balance. She has a well angulated front with good width, nice flowing lines into a level topline with ribs well back & her underline very gradually merges into belly, she has strong angulated hindquarters, she moved out well in profile with a correctly carried tail but close when viewed from the rear. BP. Junior bitch 1,0. 1st Vincent Gainscroft Dollys Diner Black & tan of balanced body proportions, very dark eye although a tad round, muzzle/head of equal length. She has a decent lay of shoulder onto strong limbs, feet would be enhanced with nails trimmed, her ribs are well back & she has a good underline. She has a rounded rump & unexaggerated quarters with a kink free tail & moved freely, super straight coat. Post Graduate 4,2. 1st Rodrigues- Amberteckel Baltic Dawn at Islewin super tapering to tip of muzzle which is equal length of dark brown eyes to occiput. She scores in shoulder placement has good ground clearance, with a slightly arched loin & broad rump with a correctly set tail from a long croup, she has straight parallel legs when stacked, moved with drive but would benefit from a nail clipping. 2nd Lewis- Mimosa Rude this lady was a little apprehensive I did manage to go over her although she didn’t enjoy the showing experience, she has a pretty head of correct shape & proportions, has a correct straight soft coat with tail forming a flag, she has decent bone but lacks angulation which showed in her movement. Open 2,0. 1st Dare- Darsoms Zendra What a well proportioned young lady, beautifully presented & handled, moderately long in body free from exaggeration. Correct head proportions with slightly arched skull & reasonably high set ear with feathering, long neck gracefully merging into sloping shoulders, her breastbone is prominent having depressions either side, she has good width in front which is carried through to her rear & has strong forelegs, she has a robust rib cage which leads to a short loin & correctly angulated rear with her tail continuing from line of spine & carried level when moving true which was driven from behind BOB. 2nd Colman- Hannah Red another one not enjoying the experience, conicle head shape with dark eye, long neck, merging well into shoulders, ok for bone & clearance, she has a level topline & correct tail set.

Firstly, I must thank the committee of the Dachshund Club for inviting me to judge at this relaxing and very well organised show. Thanks also to my efficient stewards who kept the ring flowing at all times and to the exhibitors who entered their dogs for my opinion. I was very pleased to have such a fabulous entry for a breed open show with unfortunately a few absentees. My overall opinion of the wire-haired breed was a lot had a nice harsh coat but a few were very soft/lacked coat so more attention is needed to their jackets. Some exhibits were short in ribbing which meant the loin was longer than it should be. Nails were long on a few which spoils their feet and splays the toes. However, I was delighted with my main winners and I was proud and thrilled to watch my BOB winning Best In Show and my BP achieving RBPIS.
